By Yurtlicious Go To Postyou can join and betray everyone in the game 🤭 her quest requires venturing into high level areas though and one of the rewards is skipping their whole dungeon. Try the dungeon first see if you like it?So accepting lets me skip the manor? I was under the impression this was a mandatory legacy dungeon. Either way, I think I'm gonna snoop around a bit more before talking to her again. I'm torn between exploring here or going to the capital. I've also got the medallion quest from the albinauric woman I could continue. This game is overwhelming :lol

Volcano Manor: you could do what I did, accept and do all the contracts except the last one (you'll know), which would've taken me to an area I haven't explored yet anyway, and then go explore the manor. But you can still do the latter after you finish her quest - just don't take the shortcut.
The fingers, this lady at the manor; they're all just variations of frampt and kaathe. the only person i really trust is wolfbae, and he trusts ranni, therefore ranni must be trustworthy too 😤
@zabo I might just do that then. thanks!

ironically the lord of ***** was no match for me. It was over so quick lol, thought there was gonna be a phase 2 at the end there.. good progress for today I think. holy shit at the runes you get tho 0_0
Rennala down.
Will really need a deep dive into her backstory eventually and what she was doing with that egg. And what Ranni is up to with her.

Chris Yurtleton, good call on going to Mt Gelmir. Bit of a journey from the coffins graces, found 4 side dungeons, met an NPC that gave me a spell, completed Sellen's quest and made it to the front door of the Manor. Thoroughly enjoyable the whole way.
Learned what's basically the first 20-30 minutes (slowly) / set-up for the "All Remembrances" category. So, from the intro to Rykard. Gotta learn the strats, but this fight is actually annoying as all hell without many upgrades. I just want to talk to whomever thought Poison needed a sequel.
Taking my time with it, because I'm willing to bet that they are going to patch out the AI breaks and probably nerf the fuck out of some of the shit that's used in both Any % and this.

Shaded castle: elemer fudd of the briar here almost made me rage quit but i got him. baiting his shield slam did the trick
By inky Go To PostThat's such a weird name lolI know. It’s never mentioned in game either. No idea why the community settled on that name for those areas.
Its even more simpler, From called them that in interviews 🦎

Not for maps/optional bosses, only for npc quests, and you're close to it, but you'll absolutely know before it triggers as its a choice that you can reject/put on hold. It's at the top of the Forge past a main boss fight. Go to the capital now! And then head to Castle Sol in the mountains for the second part of the medallion.

you've got a ridiculous amount of content left btw
made it to the constapated snowfield
other than the lanetta stuff i have no idea what the objective for this area is

PSA: there's no point of no return for optional areas/bosses, just NPCs.
sorry I missed your post
By HonestVapes Go To PostAnyone else feel the similarities in Elden Ring and Dark Souls II? I feel like overall ER does most of the things that DSII was stated to do (pre-release) but never achieved in the release build.can you elaborate? Because I think you might be onto something 🤔🤔🤔
sorry I missed your post
Did Volcano Manor. I couldn't resist.
Rykard...holy shit. The spectacle of these demigod fights are sensational.

Just unlocked the Godskin Peeler weapon. Gave it the Blood affinity and Dual wielding with the Bloodhounds Fang. Starting to think I'm overpowered.
Attempted the gaol puzzle in ordinia, saw what was going on and turned the game off 🤣🤣
Also, apparently gaol is pronounced jail

There’s a few things from pre-release Dark Souls II interviews and gameplay that stuck out to me. One of those key things was the stark contrast between light and dark areas. Torches were said to be practically essential and you’d need to choose between visibility (torch) or defence (shield) when venturing into areas with poor lighting.
That aspect never made it into DSII for better or worse. However I do feel like it’s alive in a way with ER. I bought a torch early on and the first cave I ventured into was pitch black in parts without it. That’s something that’s kept up throughout the game. Dark areas tend to be fucking dark without a torch or lantern.
There’s a particular type of torch too that illuminates invisible enemies, which makes a late game puzzle much more manageable.
Beyond that, there’s other points that I’m pulling from memory so I may be off. I recall that they wanted to change up the formula with bosses and have more in the middle of levels, which is definitely realised in ER. Each legacy dungeons is littered with bosses or boss-like enemies. I’ve had more than one encounter with bosses that sprang out of the ground and turned a regular part of the level into a minor boss encounter.
Plus there’s the bosses in the open world too.
One other point is that DSII was set to convey a sense of vastness in it’s world. Which I think they did to some degree in the final release, I don’t think they nailed it. ER definitely conveys a sense of vastness, not just in the size of the open world but in the scale of it too. It’s a game that makes you feel small in comparison to the world.

Altus Plateau's level range is waaaaaaay behind most player curves tbh. I'm getting like 10k runes from bosses here whereas 20 levels ago I was killing bosses and getting like 80-100k.
I think Ranni's questline kind of fucks up a smooth power curve. I'm sure the game will catch back up but yeah, I feel almost invincible going around this area in the 90s range.
By Zabojnik Go To PostThis fucking Runebear in Dragonbarrow Cave is harder than most bosses.it's impossible to kill.
Yeah Atlus is more of a transitional map that connects to the other higher level ones. 90 is about right for them
So ideally people should clear it after Caelid and leave the ones conneted to it after Ranni's quest
Vapes that sounds right on the money. Hixx knew all along

Does Patches disappear from the game completely after Volcano Manor? Thinking i should top his arse and get his bell as i've done his quest.

By Patriotism Go To PostDoes Patches disappear from the game completely after Volcano Manor? Thinking i should top his arse and get his bell as i've done his quest.I did the assassination for him and expected him to come back but so far nothing.
Does Aya the the snake/lizard girl who invited you to the manor show up again? Feels like there was more to that story.
I'm in Caelid right now and very much not enjoying myself. Doesn't help that I keep finding portals that take me deeper into this castle and I'm scared.
I can relate. I took those portals as well, but I want back and started cleaning out the place. I think I'm mostly done now and ready to go to the castle, however there are a few big enemies left I want to tackle first. Good old dragon Greyll on the bridge shouldn't be much of a problem, not sure about the big bird in front of the Bestial Sanctum, but I can always come back later. The colossal dragon near Fort Faroth though. Do I even dare? Talk to me, tarnished brothers.
