Got the moonveil katana ... why can't it scale with faith, sigh.
I've considered respecing to an int build, but I finally started getting sensational faith incantations, so I'm sticking with my dex/faith/str build.

Been using the crystal sword myself.
Think moonveil katana is goals. I started vagabond with the intention of doing a straight sword with medium shield and Sacred Blade looked like the best path, it was very fun... until I discovered unsheathe.
My second run with the prophet is holding up quite well to say the least, since I didn't memorize where to get all the pyro and faith books so I gotta explore looking for them. The pyro cunts camps is a start
Zabo you'll get an incredible weapon for your build next area. Scales with STR/DEX/Faith, and its fucking ridiculously cool. Hell, I made this character for it
By Zabojnik Go To PostGot the moonveil katana … why can't it scale with faith, sigh.Moonveil is legit broken lol but most special weapons are I'd say, which is fun! Highly recommed for INT builds.

By Yurtlicious Go To PostHey ashes of war-ing is legitttI just wish I knew about it sooner. Would’ve got some extra damage out of it early on.
I found the crystal sword, but I haven’t the stones to get it on the same level as my long sword.

You'll be able to buy them off the round table eventually
By Elliott Go To PostWhere does one acquire such a weapon?Got it after I killed a mini boss, Magma Wyrm in Gael Tunnel to be precise. It's basically the only thing I've done in Caelid so far and I only went there because you can only get to the mini boss door if you enter the tunnel from that side, can't get to from Limgrave.

I'm still exploring Liurnia east, was thinking of going south of Limgrave next.
Level'd up my broadsword to Keen Broadsword +7, since I have tons of smithing stones, added the ice attack ashes, it's pretty cool.

And Zabo since you're faith you can use the dragon hearts to get some Faith/Arcane shit too. I totally forgot about them till now lmao
I be summoning dragons now

By n8 dogg Go To PostI didn’t even know you COULD scale ashesYeah, it's kind of esoteric. Gotta be checking NPCs to see if you get new conversation options and even then it's not straightforward.
Same thing happened with the sewing kit and needle/golden needle. Almost didn't find the NPC, then by chance I remembered where to check for him again, then idk where the fuck he's at after our last convo, or if it's a location I already visited even. There are literally npcs hiding in bushes and pots lol, sometimes with no nearby clues

And for the faith/arcane builds each dragon unlocks a different spell depending on his 'element'/movesets. Always worth killing them

Yeah, once I killed a couple dragons I was like "this is the shit I should be speccing for holy shit"
Faith?
I’m all over the place so far

Then like 14-17 for everything else. What should I be prioritising for maximum fun?

I think a lot of the spells that I have are kinda under-tuned, tbh (especially gravity related). As cool as they are, visually, it's a different story actually using them. Cast times take to long. The fp cost is to high, so you're kinda forced into using the unlimited fp gem, instead of something else (or just use pebble). To get the most out of them, you need setup, which isn't always viable. I don't mind situational spells, at all, but they could have used a bit more work, imo.
Not to say that it isn't strong. If I have enough distance to get the setups off, shit just dies to the kamehameha or spells after I hit with the Moon's magic resistance debuff.
Meanwhile, Faith gets Pyromancy alongside the usual. The names be like unfathomable fire of the unjust Mercury Lord, or some metal ass shit like that. lol
Moonveil might be one of my favorites in a Souls game. That shit carries. With summoned swords, you're actually just Magic Vergil.

Put more dragons if anything. For one area in particular, it was more of a puzzle in how to get rid of them. all at once
It's a massive open world filled with unique enemies, I don't mind. The named knights (and dragons, I'm sure you remember the trailer) have different movesets, the arcane ones are horrible cunts lol.
I *need* my dragonhearts. NEED THEM ;_;

no wonder people think these games are the peak of hard
By EldritchTrapStar Go To PostIs there a list showing which sorcery actually scales with each family?Kinda. These are all the spells and incantations
https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Magic+Spells (massive spoilers)
For my build it depends on which Seal I'm carrying, there's even one for Strength (!). So yeah a strength build could cast those without even investing in Faith if they have the Clawmark Seal.
By n8 dogg Go To PostFaith?I don't know if it's because I haven't been farming at all, but I keep feeling like some of my stats should be much higher after 40 hours. Certainly faith, seeing how some incantations need 40+ (some of the aforementioned dragon ones for sure) and I'm at like 20 something. It will take me a long ass time to get there, unless I commit to farming or the game stars becoming considerably more generous with runes. Think I'll respec soon and completely deplete INT, which I've upped to like 18 because I thought I'd wanna try some of the cool looking dex/int weapons I found.

Now we're smashing baby
weird, I +5d mine already and I think you are ahead of me
have you done Magma Wyrm? Maybe I got an extra one on the way up there but I can't remember

It's fine tho, I'm sure I'll start getting them once I go exploring the north-est and north-west regions.
Story Boss fights have been piss easy (first tried both renala and godrick) while random dungeons fuck me up lol.
Zabster no worries Runes and especially consumable will drop A LOT. Mini bosses were giving me 100K+ lol..
At some point you wont even know what to do with all those levels.
But respec why not! You already have the item I assume

Sorry I can't be more help. At the beginning I tried to make a mental note of where some key items and weapons but I gave up very quickly. Considering there's a million tiers of stones I guess I must've just thumbed through it.
Played for an hour today but I have a massive headache, so I'll have to wait till tomorrow.
Gelmirs hero cave has been the best cave in terms of rewards and boss fight
Edit: just went back to the academy the cave boss was a copy paste of the wolf boss lol

I just cleared the Carian Study Hall (the part I could access for now anyway) and made it to the four-legged giant mausoleum thingies in the north. Crystal caves should be somewhere around here, I think.

Haven't done anything in Caelid either. Noped the fuck out when I got teleported there early game. I'm probably going there last.
Zabo: I actually checked the wiki because it was bothering me too much and I think I picked it when I was a wee noob and didn't know what it even was! I've been carrying it around since like lvl 15 LOL (apparently there is one in the Academy, but it couldn't' be that one because I haven't even been inside. I still don't have the thing you need to break the seal).
Location: I got teleported to the Crystal Mine in Caelid through the Dragon Burnt Ruins chest like everyone else. I thought I couldn't TP back (i didn't know you just could from the map lol) so I did a little bit of exploring trying to find a site of grace. If you exit the mine and go north around the swap there is a thin path to the right. It was filled with those ball worms with the stormy eyes. I kept going until I hit a dead end and found one of the arcane face spheres there. They are easy to kill even at low level so I guess I must've killed it because it drops one.
No wonder I couldn't remember where I got it, jeez.
edit:
Yes! Me too! I actually didn't know you could just teleport from the map, so I was frantically trying to make it back to Limgrave or find a site of grace. I remember going through a swamp, then a marble town filled with magic casters, blazed through it and found some giant fucking undead doggo I barely escaped from, THEN I found a white dragon down the street and thought I was about to die. Fortunately I did find a site of grace and a trader in that road and TPd back to the Church. I had just started and From was already throwing everything at me, jesus.

Ahaha Zabo, Caelid is your next big area don't run. Ideally you should be 50-60 there.
