Gonna try a caster now.

Man, I'm so bad at this game. Think I've a decent grasp on 1 v 1 but as soon as I aggro mobs I'm fucked.
Anyway, just been exploring the world and reached Castle Morne. Really enjoying it but stopped when I was mobbed by like 10 demi humans.

Having a form of ranged combat to lure enemies out individually is near essential.
By HonestVapes Go To PostHaving a form of ranged combat to lure enemies out individually is near essential.Don't agree. Jump attacks, ashes of war, weapon arts, items ,etc, there are many ways to deal with mobs up close and meaty.
It’s always easier to take a 1v1 than to take on the whole mob of enemies. So for someone struggling with mobs (Cleff), I’d say it’s near essential.
I’ve always played these games with a ranged attack on hand anyway. Stuck in my ways at this point. There’s definitely no shortage of options in ER vs previous FROM games though.

any weapon that requires arcane is pure insanity.
but the special ones in particular are super sci-fi anime, one turned me into a homing cloud that exploded on contact.

The Twinblade has a great two handed function and hits enemies from all angles. But there's still just too many to beat all at once. Better to pick a few off individually before taking on a mob.
another thing Cleggy, always carry a faster weapon with you to switch to when needed. With my melee character I used a heavy 2H + a nimble rapier.
By data Go To Postso far ti feels liek Dex got all the cool weaponsWas annoyed when I got this and it required like 30 Faith. Need more cool strenght/Dex weapons

Just exploring the world moreso than hitting story beats. Will hopefully stumble upon some quicker weapons soon.
By Cleff Go To PostThanks Yurt.I don't know your build but big fuck off weapons like axes are also good for mobs. and i can't recommend jump R2ing enough

Same sy, all the cool stuff I've got so far is either pure STR pure DEX or requires Faith
Maybe I'll reroll as some Dragon Hunter or something just so I can put those hearts to good use

What a fucking adventure I’ve been on over the last few hours.
Went off to plunder a tunnel I saw on the map in the northernmost part of Liurnia. It turned out to be much more than a mere tunnel.
Felt very reminiscent of Dragon’s Dogma. Only thing missing was a pawn screaming “harpies” every 7 seconds.
Moving through that and the area boss, I’ve found myself in the Atlus Plateau.
I could tell I’m not supposed to be here yet, but I pushed onwards.
Found the map piece, saw a large road on the map and ventured forth. After dying to two ballistas, I realise I could take a side path and get back on the road higher up. Near the end, I was greeted by a duo of Tree Sentinels.
Tried taking them, died again. Went back for another round, this time riding past them and getting to the bonfire through the gates behind them.
Another new area, but thankfully the map piece was close by. After looking around, saw another tunnel and went off to plunder that too.
I put my sign down at the bonfire inside, went through as a phantom and cleared the area and boss with two others. Then went through solo.
The boss was fairly easy (Onyx Lord), however on the other side of the boss arena was path leading to a fucking huge tower that I can’t open yet.

this been me everyday now. I just don't know where I'm gonna end up. The stories my friends are sharing are wild too and seems like each one us is having their own distinct experience, its what makes it and other good OW special.

Finally found a somber smithing stone 3, so I can upgrade the Bloodhound Fang to +4. It's still slaying, the special jump-back attack is sensational.
I guess I'll need to decide soon which common dex / quick weapon I'm going to level up and use as secondary. Got the broadsword at +3, but it's kind of a boring weapon.
Currently exploring the west side of Liurnia, pushing north, made it to The Four Belfries, activated the first portal, fought two absolute cunts.

I'm kind of burning out already because of the combat. I like exploring the world, I think the controls and all the variety of weapon builds feel good
but my experience with all the mobs is 'Ok mob do your move now I get to hit you once. Maybe twice if you're a totally braindead mob' Everything you fight is hyper aggressive, has more combos than you, has a leaping/lunging attack, is unclenched by what you're doing, etc. It basically just feels like poking a rock every 4 seconds then playing dodge/roll.
It's funnier because the game's never been easier to level and shit thanks to all the waypoints but just dealing with 'bigger trash' like Knights and this blob castle shit makes me want to turn the fucking game off and has none of the satisfaction of killing a boss.

So that sorceress i killed is somehow alive back in witchbane ruins. She's aggro though, so is there a way to absolve my sins like in dark souls or should i just kill her again lol
Also, beat Margit and Godrick. I had a hard time with the latter, but in retrospect his moveset wasn't so bad, especially in the second phase where he becomes even slower. He was such a tank though, had to reinforce my sword a couple of times or else it would have taken forever.

Lunaria seems less focused than limgrave but there's a lot of cool stuff here.
Just realized you can clearly see where the map for each area just from the icon

Bro these fucking giant hands at Caria Manor, hate them with a passion.
Defeated Loretta and the Glintstone Dragon (well, got him to teleport him somewhere else for a later part 2, I imagine), spoke to Renni and accepted her quest, also Selvius' task of delivering the potion.
Is there more to do here? I feel like there should be, considering the grace indicator points to Caria Manor.
EDIT: Guess not.

Did you meet the blacksmith. Always worth a chat for updates

Btw, I'm assuming the underground city Blaidd is talking about is the you access via Mistwood? Well, has to be, he was surprisingly explicit, as were the other two LADY Ranni's helpers.
What does the red square and arrow pointing down under my health bar mean? I've had it for a while now and not sure what or why it is. Is it a health debuff?

The midgame+ mini dungeons are really cool btw. Like, really bizarre puzzles and not something you'd expect to do in Souls.
I was stumped a few times

By Patriotism Go To Postlmao this happens every time i play. Still yet to do the second major dungeon 35 hours in.I'm still finding new content just from tracking back to clean up stuff. Went south to Oridy's Rise yesterday because after fighting a lobster I had a light bulb moment on how to open the tower (fucking turtles) and found 2 world bosses on the way there! I knew some only show up at night but I had only seen the rider on the bridge to Stormveil castle. There's probably more I missed.
