She’s the typical kind hearted, over confident outcast you see in shonnen. Aside from aesthetic and acting preferences they could’ve tipped the scales more towards a trickster type or the anti hero type, but it’s a tricky balance.

Someone who we were already familiar with, that's why nu Kratos worked so damned well.
To do what you're suggesting and I'm not disagreeing with this, the tone of the game would be so different. And honestly, coming from the grunts in killzone, Aloy is a decent first attempt at a sympathetic and likeable - if a bit of a Mary-sue main character.
Definitely something to build on.
Heck, even ND needed a rougeish, mix of indiana Jones and Nathan Fillion character to find their feet with character stuff.
