Former NFL QB A.J. Feeley says he saw Tom Brady use illegal footballs
“Prior to Tommy and Peyton Manning going to the league and saying, ‘Let us doctor our balls' we used to all play with the same balls,” Feeley told 97.5 The Fanatic, via PFT.
(In 2006, two years after Feeley says he saw Brady breaking the rules, the NFL allowed teams to provide their own footballs for use during games, thanks largely to the lobbying efforts of Brady and Manning.)
Feeley continued: “Somehow this beat-up ball from the ball boy was getting thrown in on offense for New England, yet when we were on offense this orange brand new ball was getting thrown in.”
So for those of you who think January's AFC Championship Game wasn't the first time Brady and the Patriots were guilty of skirting the rules, here's your (alleged) smoking gun. For those of you wondering why Feeley waited 11 years to speak up, that's a fair question. Either way, Feeley says he didn't appreciate the gamesmanship.
“He's getting his own balls thrown in on offense,” Feeley said. “That was an issue to me at the time. ...We saw it then.”

generally I agree, but anyone here who has played basketball or football...anything where you put your hands on a ball, grip is HUGE. It can easily easily easily be the difference in the placement of your shot or pass. If one team has that advantage and the other doesn't...there's potential there for a significant difference between opposing QB's.
I've never even tried to play QB but I did play WR. I'm just not understanding how it would have that much of an impact.

This is such a non story yet it's become the biggest things in the new cycle. I'm an LA fan. I hate Boston teams and even I can't manage to muster up the hate needed to give a shit about slightly deflated balls. Especially in a league rampant with PED use that slides by. Everyone harping on cheating and legacy in the NFL are being giant hypocrites.

Catching a deflated football is A LOT easier than a fully inflated on. A fully inflated ball has a lot more bounce, and a result, can bounce out of your hands, chest, etc. A deflated ball doesn't have as much bounce to it, even if it is only 3-5psi. It's easier to grip, catch with one hand, you name it.

I'm pretty sure Conan had Drew Brees on the show early in January and he accurately guessed which were deflated, which weren't, and by how much. Tom Brady is a sack of shit.
