Smokey shook, 70B for a military America fuck yeah shooter while Sony went out there and got real talent.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostWhat are you talking about?
I’m imagining a scenario where Jimbo counters Phil once COD is gone after 2023.
Them remaining 3rd party and explicitly saying so is a big “lookitsnothing.jpg”, outside of hey this is the studio that built a defining series for our rival.
Good thing Destiny am trash
I'd trade dedicated servers for 'real talent' but sure why not
nevermind smokey gotta shit up the thread for the next 3 days bbl

By Daz Go To PostDestiny is Phil's favourite game.Call of Duty will be going exclusive after Sony's marketing deal expires next year, but it also sounds like Microsoft is going to basically end the practice of all Activision studios working on the franchise. So it'll be interesting to see what CoD looks like going forward.
This move is most likely to keep a popular fps franchise and studio on PlayStation should cod go exclusive.
Also ice cold from Jimbo.

Either way, Bungie has pedigree, Destiny, love it or lump it is the biggest looter shooter in the market with the best shooting out there.
It's a tight contingency plan, smart in hindsight and engenders goodwill by keeping them multiplat.

For the record I’m a Nintendo guy outside of Uncharted idc about either Microsoft or Sony’s first party games

PS5 and XS are selling whatever they can produce, which is not much these days

Yes I’m sure Sony don’t care about anything MS is doing including buying publishers.
It outsells because of the cadence of third party releases with timed exclusivity (or full on exclusivity) + cinematic 30fps 1st party games games, along with PS being a more global brand. You pointing that out isn’t a gotcha.
Take a sizeable chunk out of the former and yeah, it impacts their schedule quite a bit. Unless you think Sony is capable of carrying their entire platform by themselves like Nintendo in which case lol

Square, Capcom or kadokawa next
Jim Ryan out there trying to save gaming from evil dystopian mediocre monopolistic criminal M$.

By Daz Go To PostNo more acquisitions pls.lol
that's how business has been done since the silicon valley and mega tech-corp era began
By s y Go To PostOkay, that actually lines up with bungies creative studio thing and all that from last year.
Just kinda funny looking back because MS wanted to bring Bungie back and were turned down over price of all things. Makes sense now.

By DY_nasty Go To PostOkay, that actually lines up with bungies creative studio thing and all that from last year. The reporting that I recall was that Bungie still wanted to retail a level of independence that Microsoft wasn't willing to offer. The only brand/franchise they own that has been allowed to remain multiplatform is Minecraft. Which is also why people are fooling themselves about the status of Call of Duty after next year.

I'm actually pretty happy to see it.
I think I was talking to maybe Kibner about it a while back, but one of the best things Bungie had going for it with Activision was the ability to lean on Blizzard and other smaller development teams for support when needed. Vicarious Visions in particular was sorely missed and everyone can acknowledge the drop in stability by migrating to Steam.
The expansion/dlc cycle with Activision wasn't sustainable as things were but the positives have always been missed. Taken over a year for them to rebuild momentum since then. MS probably had them uneasy after all that to say the least. This was back when 343 was getting grilled up too.
By Daz Go To PostWe can talk like normal dudes about this.speak for urself looser

By Smokey Go To PostBungie is Sonys answer? And they stay MP?
I means its great that they stay multiplat. Only smooth brain fans of corporate imperialism would think that was a terrible thing to happen.
By diehard Go To PostMake another Myth goddamitAt least you didn't say Oni
(This will never happen)
So who is open for acquisition and actually still holds attractive IP? Ubi, Take2 and EA.. anyone else? No one cares about your favourite Japanese dev so don't mention them.

I vow to give Sekiro another go, if and when we get a remaster / remake.

It's called a PC, man. Cutting off your nose to spite your face.
I still think that the endgame here for Sony is pushing whatever their answer to Game Pass is across both PC and console. The game is just not about selling consoles anymore and they're leaving money on the table if they don't sell on Steam/offer a PC solution. Them acquiring a port house, the Bungie acquisition, the talk about service games, etc. it's all pointing to this.
