It's inevitable that Gamepass will come on Playstation regardless of what Sony says. With phones being treated as computers and more legislation and court rulings coming showing that the "walled garden" model of doing things is dying out, it's only a matter of time before it hits consoles as well.

Gamepass on PS only makes sense if it’s basically only MS games, in which case Sony would probably pretty happy to bring it over. Seems like MS is spending the money to do just that.

It would turn Sony into mainly a HW company over time with regards to gaming, Sony can't compete with MS on software, it was always a pipe dream that they could. Sony would just be a carrier for content that's owned by their competitor. Would be great for gamers though.
Think what Apple, FB, Netflix, etc. did to AT&T, Bell, Vodafone, etc.
Sony should pivot to being more like Nintendo and find their niche ASAP, and hold onto their best franchies going forward.
