Sony want to sell as many games as possible because they get a cut of that whereas for something like game pass it's up in the air what money they would get out of that. If you subscribed to game pass through the PS store then Sony would get their cut but if somebody signed up to game pass outside of the store and then used their game pass account on a PS5 would Sony expect a cut of that and would Microsoft want to give it to them? It's part of the reason why the cross-play stuff is still a bit of a mess.

If MS got gamepass on PlayStation would really only hurt Sony and nerds that refuse to accept out digital future present.
Really getting it on PS would be the end game. MS could drop the Xbox console (although I doubt they would at first) and just have the gamepass be their platform with a lot of power and none of the console making money loss.
