By cRrusheR Go To PostThey have a lot of money, they just don’t have “let’s buy Activision” money, but in the long run that might end up being a bad piece of business. Silicon Valley has a hard on for metaverse right now, Ms and the lot believe this is some sort of end game already but I bet you the gaming landscape and the IPs that are on top will change a lot over the years.the metaverse is defintiely a part of their strategy - if Sony's VR is solution is popular and good - dont be surprised if Nadella comes with a cheque book.
By s y Go To PostThe deal won't be done until 18 months from now?Deals of this size take an absolute age to complete from a regulatory standpoint, especially if there are international companies involved.
By Old King Rob Go To PostWhat’s a good racing wheel for Xbox? Trying to get into FH5 but racing games with a controller just feels awfulGood or great? If you want good, then whatever Logitech's latest wheel is works fine. You can get that wheel, pedals, and a shifter for the same or lower price of a great wheel from, say, Fanatec.
In either case, I can safely
It is very solid, allows enough adjustment to get something comfortable (except the shifter mount), doesn't slide, folds up for storage while keeping everything attached, and is compatible with nearly everything.
It is quite heavy, though.
By Smokey Go To Postiirc fh5 (and horizon in general) don’t really play that well with a wheelNah, they play fine. A lot of adjustments, too, iirc.
Afternoon, lads. I see that Bungie, Laboured and Zabo are conspiring to burn down the world around them.
That’s a disgusting amount of money to be splashing around for Diablo, lads.

Titles like Modern Warfare 2 will still come to PS.
How the hell will Microsoft ever recoup this money? 70 billion for this and billions for Bethesda? Giving gamepass for cheap, R&D cost of the Series S/X, etc, etc. They must really just want to bury Sony at this point no matter what the cost.
Remember when the press threw a tantrum the time Sony got spiderman as exclusive for the mediocre avengers game?

Huh
Maybe I’m thinking the mainline Forza games in comparison to GT and how wheels feel in that series

Xbox is an american company so it’s alright.
By Smokey Go To PostHuhI mean, I doubt they measure up to GT's implementation, but they work just fine. Plug and play, you get all the different things you expect when hitting stuff or going into different kinds of terrain, etc. I'm not an expert on this stuff, but it is still much more fun than using a controller.

Microsoft are making bets long term on stuff like metaverse or game streaming as a service. Windows is fading as a consumer brand and if Microsoft don't want to just be an enterprise supplier, they need something that will position them for supplying content to the mass market
It may also depend on what kind of wheel you use, too. The Logitech wheels use the cheaper rack and pinion system which can feel chunky whereas Thrustmaster and Fanatech use belt driven wheel systems (which can have louder and hotter motors and some say produce distinct smells when in use).
I might just be talking out my ass here, but I wonder if the games are designed to handle one type of wheel system over the other and if it even makes a difference.

Kibner the gawd
This topic is relevant to me as I was casually throwing the idea around of buying a wheel setup for GT7. The last time I did this was the Logitech G27 wheel for GT6 and it was great.
Was looking around on Fanatechs site and was thoroughly overwhelmed.

Big tech going in big on metaverse shit.
Sony and Nintendo and we'll everyone in the gaming space will be a casualty of it.
By Smokey Go To PostAzure & Windows.I guess? Looking from the outside in I find these purchases outrageous. If Azure/Windows have the capability to bankroll the financial dumpster fire that is the Xbox division, why not instead spend that cash on more data centers for Azure and engineers to develop Windows instead?
They know more than me but damn! You already have xbox in people’s homes, just throw them a couple of games and call it good. You have them in your ecosystem already.

These companies don’t know shit, they are making it up as they go. Nobody knows what will happen.
Look at gamepass, 25 million? This time two years ago everyone was predicting at least double of that.
Nintendo has died many times.

Fanatec bases are direct drives.

MS may purchase every 3rd party publisher but nintendo will still sell 150 million consoles by releasing one good game every two years. 😎

By Smokey Go To PostKibner the gawdThrustmaster is cheaper for that, iirc. But, yeah, Fanatec is the best of the best in this niche. I would have to do a lot of reading up on things to tell you the difference between all the wheels, but just know that general prices for complete setup (wheel, pedals, shifter) for the brands is roughly like this:

Logitech: $250-350
Thrustmaster: $550-800
Fanatech: $1,000+
It's been a couple years since I last looked, so my numbers are likely off.

Shit's too far gone at this point. HOTS is more salvageable than Overwatch. At least Blizzard seemed to have a consistent vision of what HOTS is.
By Andrew Go To Postwould the playstation guys not just… buy an xbox.Ironically this impacts me less than the Bethesda purchase. Haven’t been super into CoD since Infinite Warfare. Even still I’ll grab a Series X eventually but mainly for Forza Horizon.
