Anyone know much about Investing? I want something that can grow at a decent rate but you can still cash out if you had to. Obviously i know nothing is fool-proof..
Was going to put about $10K in an index fund... i'm looking at the Vanguard 500 Index Fund (VOO) .
Any thoughts?

Just to give actual details, index funds are nice because they generally do as well as other mutual funds but at much lower fees and the return on investment for the stock market over a long period of time has been extremely good historically. A 5-7% real return on your investment would transform your $10,000 into an amount worth between $43,000 and $76,000 (in today's money, it would be a lot more in nominal terms due to inflation) in 30 years (before considering tax stuff).
