Spent a lot of time outdoors, hooping (when I was younger), partially because of him. Probably the same for a ton of people. RIP
I heard the news at 6am in a club for my friend’s leaving doo.
Tried to hold it in, but just burst in to tears and had to run out.
My thoughts with his family.

I’m bringing my autographed picture home from work and hanging it in my house. Wife will have to deal
Never even watched a game of basketball but I know Kobe was seen as one of the greats. Absolutely tragic.
Kobe truly lived for basketball. His death is a huge loss to the sport and to the world as he was just starting to branch out after retirement.
By FortuneFaded Go To PostKobe' last tweet was about Lebron too.
Neymar dedicated his second goal to Kobe after finding out at half time that he passed

A lot of footballers and even clubs reacting and sending their prayers via Instagram/Twitter too, shows how big of an impact he had

He grew up in italy and his wife spoke spanish. If you know italian and you have someone to practice you can learn spanish real quick.
devastating beyond just being a fan.
for someone like me who has never been known for motivation or persistence i found inspiration in Kobe.
i could never be Kobe. be that good at basketball. but I could emulate his mindset as much as possible to be a little bit better than i was before.
its probably a little silly as an adult but sometimes in a tough game or workday or gym session i still ask myself "What Would Kobe Do"

Today has fucking sucked man. At this point all I can really say is to cherish the moments you have. Live your life the best way you can. If opportunity presents itself, give it a go and don't have regret down the line. You never know how long you'll be alive, so make the most of every moment you have.

Last game 3 games I went to were game 1 of the 2009 finals, games 1&2 of 2008 WC Finals. Vintage Kobe performances that I'll never forget.
My family cried when they heard the news.

The only time I ever got to see Kobe play in person was in 2006 when he scored 81. It was one of the happiest days of my life and I am absolutely devstated he's gone now.
Still shocked and disbelief at this point
We were supposed to watch you get old gracefully as you coach your daughters into pro athletes. And watch your empire rise economically. I wanted to see the Mamba mentality in the business world. I had saved a LA times newspaper of your last game with the hopes that one day I'd be lucky enough to work on a film project of yours and have you sign it.
I have that newspaper hanging up in my room as a daily reminder to work hard, to strive for excellence and to give it your all. It has helped me immensely in my own career. Thank you for being a model for guys like me that need that motivation.

Based on what I've been reading, sounds like it happened relatively quickly. I hope that was the case, and not something where they realized what what was happening ahead of time. Just devastating all around.
By Fenderputty Go To PostMy daughter has her first basketball lesson tonight at 5 and I’m gonna be a fucking wreck
Just make sure she learns the mamba mentality, with how much he pushed for women's basketball he better be the main player you make her watch.
He's my go to for teaching footwork to my nephew.
Iverson posted his thoughts, including a story of him and Kobe meeting for dinner during their rookie season before AI's first game in LA.
After dinner, Kobe: "What are you doing tonight?"
Iverson: "I'm going to the club. You?"
Kobe: "I'm going to the gym."

when you're filthy rich, you get to make your own rules.
We over-rely on too many life-threatening method of transportation. Safety should have taken absolute priority long ago over profits.
Either way, it's a tragedy that no one saw coming. Whoever or whatever is to blame

I'm still in disbelief, man. News reports, people posting about it, NBA people sharing their anecdotes, etc and I still treat it like some sort of thing that didn't happen and then I force myself into accepting it, at least for that brief moment.
By Not Go To PostYeah Lakers might be about to go supernovaEveryone may be getting a power up for Kobe. The urgency to chip just got bigger since you know it would be a Hollywood ending if the Lakers won a title in his memory.
