So where were the spiders while the fly tried to break our balls?
I know we are about to have a Hip-Hop OT here shortly, (c'mon Macca/Ace, get with it!), but I wanted a more general music thread with recommendations and what not. And please, please, please, PLEASE provide an artist and album title.
Mitzi - Truly Alive
Phantogram - Voices
The Chain Gang of 1974 - Daydream Forever
Action Bronson - SAAB Stories
Childish Gambino - Because the internet
I started listening to Voices tonight. Really liking it so far. My musical tastes have been crazy eclectic lately.
I like 'Binos album for what it is. He's still got a ways to go as far as what his music is about and what kind of rapper he wants to be, but the production keeps me coming back and that was knocked out of the park.

Behemoth - The Satanist
Got this the other day, it's a lot different than their old stuff but it still rips. Highly recommended it you like metal.
The new Protest the Hero - Volition is also fantastic.
Been mixing my music around with:
Trivium
Kendrick Lamar
Bullet
Cudi
Tiesto
And a mix of 80s classics.
Right now, I'm trying to help my buddy at Black Tide write a song. Sent him over some lyrics and they're gonna discuss it at their next get together. Fingers crossed a year from now, I'll have something on wax. :)

Kezia was a'ight and Fortress is my jam, never got too much into their last effort. I'll check out Volition soon.
Some albums I've heard recently that are really good:
SubRosa-More Constant Than the Gods. Excellent doom metal with perfect pacing. Band is from SLC...
Deafheaven-Sunbather. Shoegazing Black Metal. The band is incredible and their first album (Roads to Judah) is great as well...
Cormorant-Dwellings. The lyrics can seem a little try-hard, but I think they do well in tackling difficult subjects. Progressive metal, great guitar work, pacing, drumming, everything.
And, of course, everyone should listen to Opeth, Mastodon, Baroness, Animals as Leaders, and older stuff like Atheist and Cynic...

I have no idea why, but I've been in a weeknd feel lately. Listening mostly to Kissland and Echoes of Silence. Not the best of Abel's work, but it's got a majority of my most played songs.
This is my favorite album of 2013 and I'm not even really into screaming vocals all that much. Album is perfect.

For the last few months though, I've been listening to a lot of Agalloch. I love the riffs these guys come up with. I hadn't really been into metal much for quite a while now, but all these black metal bands who manage to fuse together other genres have been slaying me.
Agalloch - Ashes Against the Grain
Lantlôs - .Neon

If you like Fortress you'll love this album. Scurrilous was a step back for them but this is three steps forward.
Also anyone who hasn't checked out Sunbather by Deafheaven needs to right now.
I just got Voices by Phantogram... haven't spun it yet but I'm looking forward to it.
I've been listening to the following album a lot and I actually just ordered it on vinyl, because I think it's just an excellent album
EDIT: Totally forgot to include the album title and artist, well it's "St. Vincent - s/t"

How come when we talk about being soft we immediately default to Drake?
Why do we all forget the most butter soft of them all is actually The Weeknd?

Isn't he black? His parents were Ethiopians and spoke the native language.
I think the correct answer here is that because they're both Canadians.

Their songs translated so well live, I didn't know what to expect at first because the album has so much chaos but it was incredible. It was so powerful and they blend the elements of post-rock and black metal together effortlessly.
Just started listening to Cashmere Cat's new EP: Wedding Bells
Pretty dope.

Yo, Gondo. New Mastodon track:

Instrumentally, it feels like they're starting to recycle some stuff from Leviathan, but it's still them and still good.

Came out last year, but Manifest Decimation from Power Trip is really good.
Kind of in-between Metallica and Testament.
The new Animals as Leaders album is good too though it feels a bit more technical than their first album.

I've seen it all.
On the list right now...
The Virgins - Strike Gently
The vocalist reminds me a whole ton of Chromeo's, but their sound is quite different and a lot softer.
Ray Lamontagne - Lavender
It's summertime Beck sound without the depression.
Wild Nothing - Nocturne

I'm really liking this, thanks.
Late as hell, but been listening to this a lot lately. 80's influenced Pop.
Went to Mastodon and Gojira on Sunday. Both bands were great. Mastodon played a new song (Not "High Road") for the first time, but I didn't record it and it doesn't look like anyone else uploaded it to YouTube, sorry  . It sounded pretty great and decently original though so it helped get me excited for the new album.
The Black Keys full album Turn Blue is available for stream through iTunes:

Baths has a new EP up on iTunes
Haven't heard any of it yet but all his previous stuff has been great. His first album (Cerulean) was mostly vocal-less beats but his last album (Obsidian) was where he really impressed me.
Baths - "Worsening" off of the album Obsidian.
his first album has some great stuff too though
Baths - "Lovely Bloodflow" off of Cerulean.

Cymbals Eat Guitars released the first song off their upcoming album "Lose" as well as the cover art.
First single titled "Jackson" can be streamed here.
If you've never heard them before they already have two really good albums under their belts. They're a rock band at their core but that doesn't give them enough credit. They're a great headphone listen.
The opening track off of their first album "Why There Are Mountains" titled "And The Hazy Sea" should give you an idea of what they sound like.
