Matt Murdock (played by Charlie Cox from "Boardwalk Empire", "Stardust") - a man with a tragic past. Matt was raised by his father, a former boxing champion, after his mother died. A bright kid, Matt was constantly being pushed by his father to hit the books so he could have a better life. An accident in his youth robbed him of his sight but improved the rest of his senses. The tragedy would strike again as his father was murdered by criminals and young Matt would then take a vow to fight injustice in Hell s Kitchen by any means necessary. Now an adult, Matt Murdock defends the innocent as a lawyer with the help of his partner Foggy Nelson and by night as a vigilante called Daredevil.
Wilson Fisk (played by Vincent D'Onofrio from "Law & Order : Criminal Intent", "Full Metal Jacket") - Born and raised in Hell´s Kitchen, Wilson Fisk had to learn from a young age how to survive on the mean streets. Throught the years, he became a powerful and menacing figure in the criminal underworld, rising all the way to the top. While he may show a softer side when in the presence of his beloved Vanessa, Wilson Fisk is a ruthless man who will stop at nothing to destroy Hell´s Kitchen so a better place can reborn from its ashes.
Foggy Nelson (played by Elden Henson from “The Butterfly Effect”, “The Mighty Ducks”) - Was Matt´s roommate in college and they've been best friends ever since. He and Matt opened up an office together in Hell´s Kitchen to defend those in need.
Karen Page (played by Deborah Ann Woll from "True Blood") - Framed for murder, Karen was Matt and Foggy´s first customer. She started working as a secretary to repay them for their help and will soon become an important part of Matt´s life.
Claire Temple (played by Rosario Dawson from "Sin City", "Clerks 2") - A nurse who tries to heal Matt´s injuries from his long nights, Claire seems to be the only one who knows that he is Daredevil.

I'm the same way. Took years for me to get no The Wire and Avatar: The Last Airbender. TV has to get better than that or at least approach that for me to be interested. I try to FORCE myself to watch movies just so I can understand pop-culture references in writing/media. My brother watched The Wire on my suggestion and I still owe him Breaking Bad.
Watched the first episode. Wasn't impressed with the hero parts. At the beginning he looked like he knew what he was doing, but then botched the finale fight and looked like John McClaine not suffering from multiple injuries finishing. I was much more fascinated by lawyer-Murdock, if that makes sense. Perfunctory side-boob...what is this? Wife certainly wasn't impressed, so I'll be discouraged to press forward.
I can make a commitment to watch an episode/day, though. Just offerning my first impression.
