By reilo Go To PostWatch brand for idiotsTo be in the high end you need to be technically good at something. Like RM that builds ultra light cases. Like Piaget that builds the thinnest movements in the world. AP that perfects a new technique to get a mirror finish on steel. Or Hublot, they make full ceramic or full saphire cases. It can also be movement innovations like Grand Seiko or enameling or Moser's Vantablack dials or whatever. But much like materials these innovations serve the purpose of to some extent justifying the higher purchase price. The reason you pay for Burmeister or Naim sound system in you S-Class or Bentley or whatever is not necessarily because you are an audiophile. It's because you are willing to pay for the best. That technical innovation, that feature is something that provides justification for that exorbitant purchase. I'm aware that when I say justification to some it will sound like I'm saying that rich people need a reason to justify their purchases. And in part, that's true. We all need in some way to justify our purchases to ourselves at all price points. But in the high end the standards that the random rich person and the wealthy watch enthusiast have are incredibly high. They expect the high end to be able to do something special and are not just swayed by a gold case alone. Something factual or objective needs to push them over the edge in terms of handing over that cash.

Boss lady always asks what time it is. Wears a Cartier Tank on a bracelet but I got bored of it after a month.
By rossonero Go To PostNot sure about the strap, but that watch is a beauty. Its flipping brilliant but I'm going to pass on it because it doesn't suit my rough exterior.
That's about as chonky as a Pilot's Watch. I was really close to buying one on a recent trip (it was an older model for $5,600, and I wouldn't have paid sales tax) but it was REALLY tall. Too tall by like a good 25% for my tastes.
But man, it was nearly perfect from a watchface perspective.
