Lol a bunch didn’t go, but the ones that did really wanted to go. Also the lack of man boob grab in this thread lol
By Pac-12 Go To PostI'm pulling for the Astros in games 8 and 9, fuck this shit.
Yankees didn't give a qualifying offer to Didi Gregorius, which is kind of fucked. 1) He's good. 2) He bats lefty, which the Yankees need. No guarantee they don't eventually sign him to a new deal, of course, but at least made a QO so you can get draft pick compensation, if nothing else.
I know they probably think they can slide Torres over to short, play DJ at 2nd, which they probably can! But everybody got injured this year and then some, so plans and reality might not overlap too much.

https://theathletic.com/1363451/2019/11/12/the-astros-stole-signs-electronically-in-2017-part-of-a-much-broader-issue-for-major-league-baseball/
Four people who were with the Astros in 2017, including pitcher Mike Fiers, said that during that season, the Astros stole signs during home games in real time with the aid of a camera positioned in the outfield.
Now, an MLB investigation into the Astros’ culture in the wake of the team’s firing of assistant general manager Brandon Taubman could be expanded to determine who in the organization was aware of the sign-stealing practice — and whether it continued or evolved in subsequent seasons. The Athletic’s confirmation of rule-breaking by Houston is limited to 2017.
Early in the 2017 season, at least two uniformed Astros got together to start the process. One was a hitter who was struggling at the plate and had benefited from sign stealing with a previous team, according to club sources; another was a coach who wanted to help. They were said to strongly believe that some opposing teams were already up to no good.Smokey, pls.
They wanted to devise their own system in Houston. And they did.
“That’s not playing the game the right way,” said Fiers, who was with the team from 2015-17 and was non-tendered in the offseason after the Astros won the 2017 World Series. “They were advanced and willing to go above and beyond to win.”

You're the patriots of professional baseball team. Congrats. Maybe next year you can deflate your mits or something.

That dynastic team? Those Patriots?
I'm down. So this is what it feels like
By blackace Go To Postwhat does cheating but still losing feel like? 🤔
We won that year m8 . And caught Fenders boi Darvish at home where our spy cams traveled well.
All this time I thought Darvish was tipping his pitches. Turns out Smokey just cheats. Probably camps in CoD too

Yeah that didn't stop them f..hold on *checks notes* losing all 4 games at home in the WS. I guess National Park had the better setup 🤷♂️

We will refine the technique and get byke at it next year. Simple. As Fender said, Patriots like.
Be noble brehs
By Moris Go To PostThe Astros have never won a world series, that's crazy.

Your boy Darvish gifted that one to you, though. 5 runs on 5 outs, then nothing. Hell, only 2 hits the rest of the game.

Take it up with Fender

I assume Darvish was a double agent, to go along with the sign stealers.
Hell, do we know his whereabouts when he wasn't pitching?
Astros executive asked scouts for help stealing signs and suggested using cameras, email shows
An Astros front-office executive wrote about the team’s desire to steal signs in an August 2017 email that was obtained by The Athletic. As the club discussed its advance scouting plans ahead of the playoffs, the executive asked the team’s scouts to pursue sign stealing from the stands, and suggested cameras could be used to do so.
“One thing in specific we are looking for is picking up signs coming out of the dugout,” the email’s sender wrote in a message from August of 2017. “What we are looking for is how much we can see, how we would log things, if we need cameras/binoculars, etc. So go to game, see what you can (or can’t) do and report back your findings.”
The email was sent to multiple people and provided to The Athletic on the condition that both its sender and recipients remain unnamed.
stras signed for dumb money
not sure if we can keep Rendon now, but we'll see what happens--wouldn't be shocked if the Lerners said "fuk it, we chipped, meh" and moved on

By Smokey Go To Post9 years for a 29 year old pitcher, gl with that m8sIf they get a World Series or two, it's fine. Of all clubs, the Yankees can afford to pay guys for past greatness.
Besides, the Stanton contract is way worse.

We shall see.

We still have real estate on the Yankees. They haven't been able to get past us in the playoffs for how many years now. And ya know we not short on techniques when it comes down to the nitty gritty
Damn near a decade tho, lol. Guess that's the price you pay for whiffing on a guy for years and failing to trade for him due to incompetence. Best case here is Cole ain't shit and is on the decline after year 2 or 3, and the Yankees are stuck with him for another half decade with a no trade clause
By Smokey Go To PostWe shall see.Cole will be good for the majority of those years, he will be like Randy Johnson.

Do you have an electronic trade stealing scheme going?
I know he still has two more years of control, but isn't Correa hurt too much to get good value for? Dude hasn't played close to a full season since 2016.

impossible to get anyone top tier these days on low years unless they are a B tier player that just happens to breakout
and even then, they'll probably an eto to test free agency

That was my whole point when I brought it up. Great talent, but hes been hurt too much. Back problems are no joke. I said they'd either trade him or let him walk, wouldn't be surprised at either. When healthy though, dude is super nice. Somebody might trade for him on that alone, confident that their medical staff can take care of any issues.
