The latencies are bad, but it’s the artifacting also that I see as a problem. Consider that the console space has been moving forwards and pushing resolution and image quality standards, and consider that the PC space has been about higher frame rates and lowering input lag for as long as I can remember.
If it’s subscription based and cheap, then sure, it might do alright. If it’s not, and you have to buy games on this service then fuck no it’s DOA.

I don't see artifacting or latency being a problem for console gamers. Not like they can start claiming to have higher standards now.

By HasphatsAnts Go To PostAt any given point there's only so much interesting work happening at Google. 25% of it might be cutting edge while the other 75% is really boring or monotonous.
Now imagine if you're a Stanford PhD at Google and you're being asked to figure out whether this YouTube button should be blue or red. You're well paid, but probably not that jazzed about the actual work you're doing.
Now, adding an ML dimension to your work is a quick and easy way to make your work more interesting and also get exposure to senior leadership, which creates a lot of solution seeking rather than actual problem solving.
I don't wanna sound fecacious but I do speak to Stanford PhDs pretty much all day everyday and while I don't wanna make a sweeping statement, often the context is really secondary to the problem. If your coming from a statistics or ml background something that we may deem mundane is probably really interesting to a stats ML guy, what better assumptions can be made, if I use this technique instead this do improve accuracy but at what computational cost etc.
Ofc some or even many do care about the industry the go into, but 8 times out of 10 if I get a CV at the bar of what I'm looking for I present him or her with stats problem rather than hey here is a domain that is going to change lives.
