By markao Go To Postdid the same 1st run in Singapore
That big a lead?
Hopefully he can keep it this time. No more fuck ups.
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostNow for Ferrari to fuck it up with strategy loltire wear was way worse than Merc on Friday, but they might have worked on it yesterday. But if they can get 1-2 1st lap with-out team orders ;), should be able to keep one of them upfront.
weird feeling that race is little later, so justed to the day of, human brain works in mysterious ways.
Q3
Full Session:
Don't know what Charles was doing here, ran out of talent or front end. I know they do not want to hand out penalties, but this is just stupid.
By Spengo Go To PostIdiot Leclerc.that one was coming for races, if you let to much go, drivers think they can get away with everything.
see Albon to make my point : stupid:
By Spengo Go To PostThese stewards are fucking shit. Of course that was Charles’ fault and they just dismissed it.either he lost his front end, loss downforce behind seb. Or he tried to pushh Max wide and did not realise how far ahead Max was.
right now i cant tell, need charles onboard, but feel more towards the 2nd option.
Vettel just gets away with it, probably sensor helped him out. Visualy it looked bad
poor Max, race destroyed by Charles.

By markao Go To Posteither he lost his front end, loss downforce behind seb. Or he tried to pushh Max wide and did not realise how far ahead Max was.I can sort of understand that leniency is shown in the first round incident Charles taking out Max, but how does Charles not get penalized for consciously and willingly endangering fellow drivers by driving on with damage?

Guess they some how trust the teams, or do not want to get in to a situation were 'how much damage is dangerous" and why did you not call him in last week and did you call in me kind of precedents.
if you get what im trying to say without sleep
at least some racing in the end, other than the midfield delivering as always, but Ferrari power is even to much for the mighty ConstructerWorldChamps Merc.
Start promised a good race, shame Charles ran out of talent and we only had some strange merc/lewis strategy entertaining us. Bottas great start and full control of the entire face, deserved winner.
McLaren best of the rest again.

Nice for Merc to play nice and let VB finally get a win, Lewis probably had it in the bag had he not pitted.
By Spengo Go To PostNice for Merc to play nice and let VB finally get a win, Lewis probably had it in the bag had he not pitted.Tire wear was real, specially with the pace Lewis was going and Mercedes always want drivers on same start, so Valteri won this one.
Perez vs Gasly for lat lap:
Interview with Charles confirms my feelings, he blames not to have seen anything or does not know what he did wrong (no mention of loosing downforce/understeer), so either blind or deliberate trying to push a car wide to late.............penalty for next race please. And now another interview (later) and now all of a sudden there was understeer, think he realizes by the questions he was in the wrong.
results:
If you wonder how a crashed car finished, they made an error and flagged the race one lap to early

Those post race penalties are a bit pointless to me and unnecessary. There was nothing a post race interview was going to add to the situations (new info) and the situations (slam dunk) should have been dealt with in race.
There is also an interesting protest by Racing Point against the legality of Renault's braking systems.
They alleges the team’s two cars include a “pre-set lap distance-dependent brake bias adjustment system”. This is forbidden by article 11.1.4 of the technical regulations which states “any change to, or modulation of, the brake system… may not be pre-set”.
So basically the brake balance changes by were you are on track and that should be done manually (see drivers chance that a lot in a lap on their steering wheels. Curious if this was something that was playing for a while and why RP decides to log a complaint right now (what did they see/know about it and how?).

By Spengo Go To PostCurious to know how Racing Point knows that. Espionage? There are two stories running
- As often in F1, old member of Renault working somewhere else (whistleblower)
- Watching on-boards a lot. You see drivers continously chance brake balance, if one team does not do that at all, but looks good on braking in all places, it raises questions. So you provide 12 pages of all kind of data, to raise that question and ask for answers.

According to La Gazetta Honda will increase it’s budget for F1 engine development in 2020 to 140 million raheems in order to beat Ferrari and Mercedes.
And both Renault's DQed from Suzuka race.
Curious as to why only this one, cannot believe Racing Point got that entire 12 page complaint from just this race.

We are racing this weekend on the circuit Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico. Track located well over 2 km above sea level means thinner air density that throws all kinds of problems to the teams.
Normally ICE engines would run with less power, but because we run turbo engines it all comes down to which team can compress the air the most inside that turbo. Last few years Renault, smaller turbo --> higher rpm, looked better than on other tracks, curious how it is with this years updated engines.
Less air also means your cooling is worse and that might have an impact, if so Mercedes struggled the most at higher temps.
And finally the aero on the cars do not produce the normal downforce levels at this height. So teams will be running high downforce cars (Hungary/Monaco) that produce Monza/Baku downforce levels. Mercedes should be top in that, but last few years they struggled with graining, but looking at this years "tire wear performance", I cannot see Merc struggle with it.
Can Ferrari use its full power advantage and how much do they loose in S3 and at what cost for their tires (wear), so tune in to find out ;)

As always hard to read anything in the FP1 times, Merc/RBR reds & Fer on mediums. Hardly any grip first session, stopped in middle with Lance going off and reds definitely grained a lot (front left), see how that develops during the weekend (if it stays dry, some rain expected in the weekend).
Stroll:
Max won’t win shit let alone a championship with a team mate that bins it every practice session. I worry about next season.
It's Albon's 1st year in F1, give him some slack, I mean Charles is in his 2nd year and also bins it a lot.
RBR more competitive as I thought, specially long runs. If it rains overnight (Saturday/Sunday) and tracks stays green, they might have a chance on Sunday (specially if it rains). Mercedes more of than I expected, that engine must not like the thinner air. Graining and 1-2 stops could be fun even if it stays dry, hard to pass Ferrari's on track but tires falling off might give others a chance.
And looking at the Toro Rosso's, Honda like the Renault might look better at altitude and maybe they can challenge McLaren for best of rest.

Merc bit more power than yesterday and closed gap a little, RBR boys didn't get a lap in in the end when track was dry due to traffic, Max looked at least as fast as Ferrari's if not faster. Sainz best of rest and shout-out to Gasly who was sick ans only stepped in car last 15 min, so TR 2nd best. Renault had some issues on DR car and than kept Hulk car in as well for same issue, not sure what it was.
