"Japanese magazine Famitsu confirmed on its official website that the PlayStation 5 CPU will be an x86-64-AMD Ryzen “Zen2”, 8 cores / 16 threads CPU. Many speculated that the console's CPU would sport 8 cores and 16 threads, so it's nice to finally have confirmation."

Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC takes full advantage of the power of the PC to bring every corner of this massive, rich and detailed world to life from the windswept snowy peaks of the Grizzly Mountains to the dusty roads of Lemoyne; from the mud-spattered storefronts of Valentine to the cobbled streets of St Denis. New graphical and technical enhancements for deeper immersion include increased draw distances for better navigation; higher quality global illumination and ambient occlusion for improved day and night lighting; higher quality snow trails, improved reflections and deeper, higher resolution shadows at all distances; tessellated tree textures and improved grass and fur textures for added realism in every plant and animal.
In addition to the technical enhancements, Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC brings additional updates to the world of RDR2 Story Mode, including:
3 New Bounty Hunter Missions:
Herman Zizendorf has been stealing tools from tradesmen – track him down in Blackwater.
Ex-Confederate Cavalry Officer Camille de Millemont is wanted dead or alive out by Catfish Jacksons, but his loyal men are never far behind.
Bart Cavanaugh and his gang are camping out in Big Valley. Take Bart dead or alive without alerting his gang if you want to avoid a whole mess of trouble.
2 New Gang Hideouts:
Take on the deadly Del Lobos gang in new hideouts at Gaptooth Breach and Solomon’s Folly.
2 New Treasure Maps:
Search for treasures across the new Landmarks of Riches and The Elemental Trail maps for gold bars and other rewards.
New Mission “To The Ends of The Earth” – collect requested herbs for a range of rewards
New Weapons for Story Mode including:
M1899 Pistol – all-new Semi-automatic handgun with clip loaded ammunition
Evans Repeater – high capacity repeater (previously available in Red Dead Online only)
High Roller Revolver – ornate double-action revolver (previously available in Red Dead Online only)
Le Mat Revolver – powerful revolver with the ability to shoot shotgun shells (previously available in Red Dead Online only)

Good. Or rather, modern. Unlike the Jag CPUs which were outdated from day 1.
Get a mod for automatic looting based on a radius around Arthur, skipping the animation, and the game will improve tenfold

And better fast travel options.
Unlocked frame rates and HDR confirmed. By Allah.
No surprises, though: A 2018 console game shouldn't require a beast of a PC. That said, Rockstar's done some work on RDR2 since its console release. According to the developer, the PC version will include:
Increased draw distance
"Higher quality" global illumination and ambient occlusion
"Improved" snow trails
"Improved" reflections and higher resolution shadows
Tessellated tree textures
"Improved" grass and fur textures
HDR support
Unlocked resolution (4K and higher)
Ultrawide aspect ratio and multi-monitor support
Unlocked framerate
The most important takeaways from our perspective are the unlocked resolution and the unlocked framerate, which PC Gamer confirmed with Rockstar separately from today's press release, which just promised "faster" framerates.

The game, while I'm enjoying it quite a bit, focuses too much on realism at the cost of actual fun. Constantly brushing and feeding my horse is lame. Auto slowing my character when he enters a house is lame. Having to manage my camp is lame even if it's not difficult. Having to clean myself so I'm not insulted is lame. Can't traverse stairs quickly is lame. Having to tap a bunch of button to clean myself is lame. Looting animation was cool for a minute and then it becomes tiresome.
They do all this stuff for realism and then make you a walking bullet sponge that can take enemies down in two shots. The game is stupidly easy. You barely even have to take cover. I've used like 5 health cures so far and only cause I'm lazy as fuck entering a fight cause I know I can be.
By unemployed sy Go To Postpc nerds, this good or bad? It's somewhere in the mid-to-entry-high-level range of their current CPU's.

By Smokey Go To PostGood. Or rather, modern. Unlike the Jag CPUs which were outdated from day 1.It was so weak Digital Foundry tried to find an equivalent when they wanted to make a PC with Xbox and PS4's specs, and failed.
It was a struggle beating RDR 2 the first time. Couldn't imagine doing it a second time

By Kibner Go To PostIt's somewhere in the mid-to-entry-high-level range of their current CPU's.It's probably a much lower frequency though. I doubt they can dedicate more than 30-40 watts of cooling capacity to just the CPU (also the side effect of increased yields).
Especially if that leaked design is real, the airflow.. yeesh.

Given the 2020 release, I’m calling that it’ll be a Zen 2 mobile CPU, 35w jobby.
Yeah, diehard and Vapes likely have the right of it. So, knock it down a tier from my original statement. A good budget part. One that should be capable of running current games up to ~100 fps, I think. With the resolutions and framerates game devs often target, the CPU likely won't be the bottleneck by any stretch next gen.

It’ll still be decent like, and better than the PS4 CPU by a country mile.
The current top end mobile AMD CPU, the R7 3750H is really not that bad as is. Still behind Intel’s offering due to being Zen+ and limited in cores/clock speed compared to Intel.
A straight up 8 core Zen 2 at 35w, even if it’s locked to 3Ghz across all cores should be really decent in a console.
Planning seems to be really good so far, unlike PS4/X1 era the necessary hardware to make compelling hardware is also there.
Don't forget though, many devs will still choose graphical fidelity over frames per second. The 30FPS cap is here to stay, as is poorer performance as the generation ages. Which is weird honestly, looking at the numbers the most successful games tend to be 60FPS on consoles. Fortnite, Call of Duty, FIFA, nu-Battlefield and so on.

I'd argue that a good amount of their success is in part due to being 60FPS. The casual gamer might not know what a frame rate even is, but they definitely feel the difference when playing a 60FPS game compared to a 30FPS game.

Ya I was just watching the DF video post patch. I know it's not the best example but I'm still very excited to move on to HDR generally as I have not yet got a proper HDR TV (still waiting on proper high-end HDMI 2.1 TVs to come next year) and have very little experience of it so far.
Google Stadia will be “faster and more responsive” than local gaming hardwarehttps://www.pcgamesn.com/stadia/negative-latency-prediction
Google Stadia will be faster and more responsive than local gaming systems in “a year or two,” according to VP of engineering Madj Bakar. Thanks to some precog trickery, Google believes its streaming system will be faster than the gaming systems of the near-future, no matter how powerful they may become. But if the system is playing itself, does that really count?
CARBON NANOTUBES
BLAST PROCESSING
NEGATIVE LATENCY
Fact is any trickery they apply to Stadia (if it's actually any good) can still be even better applied on local hardware.
i don't think that's true, there's more compute resources in the cloud to run cv/ml operations, we're bound to see some actually interesting innovations at some point, i just doubt it'll be with stadia since that whole project sounds like it's run by marketing execs. negative latency could be cool for cinematic set piece driven sequences at least
oh nice to see that Google broke the laws of physics and their first application is a gaming console
Sounds like their version of client-side prediction, which multiplayer games have been using forever to reduce visible lag. Physics still gonna physic.
