Speaking of RTX...I really want that ASUS Matrix 2080ti. Fascinated by the engineering that went into that but fuk at $2,000.

Get back from holiday first week of June. Hoping new monitor and RTX card are in that timeline for this humble Horse.

I will take your widescreens when they give me the hot, sexy premium experience I desire. Honestly if they had comparably featured monitors in widescreen that's what I'd get,

Don’t be fooled by the Asus fuckery, the Kingpin card is the only 2080Ti worth that money.

Honestly if they had comparably featured monitors in widescreen that's what I'd get,Yeah, I get it. Personally I'd pick the PG35VQ (if available, sigh) over the PG27UQ without much hesitation. I get the appeal of 4K, but I'm done with 16:9 and 27" isn't big enough anymore. It sucks that new and better panels aren't coming along faster, but it is what it is. Slaves to LCD. Forever.
Random question : people who say 27" is too small for s monitor and 4k...how far are your guys sets away from you?
By Smokey Go To PostRandom question : people who say 27" is too small for s monitor and 4k…how far are your guys sets away from you?I sit pretty close. Maybe 2 feet away if that. I'll bring the screen closer if I'm playing MP games too (bless monitor arms).
Oh yeah, ITX stuff. Recently it was announced that the Louqe Ghost S1 case will be retailing at Amazon. That's pretty big for a small start up company previously struggling to send out cases on time.

By Kibner Go To PostThat is an incredible case. It's so teeny!
It's similar in layout to my previous case, but much smarter in design. The "sandwich layout" has grown in popularity a lot since the DAN case. The optional top hats for an AIO or fans, extra storage, etc. is such a cool idea to me.

128GB of memory? inject it to my veins.
The big takeway here is that AMD has made tremendous improvements to the IMC (Integrated Memory Controller) inside the Matisse processors. The chips purportedly possess the potential to support memory speeds up to 4,400 MHz and faster. However, we would expect this to be on a chip-to-chip basis since not all processors are made equal, and the IMC will surely vary from one sample to the next.another bit of that Intel wall is crumbling down.
The leaked specifications also suggest that Matisse chips could only accommodate up to 64GB of DDR4 memory in a dual channel configuration. Now that 32GB DDR4 modules are a thing, we could possibly see that limit pushed to 128GB through a simple BIOS upgrade.

By Smokey Go To PostRandom question : people who say 27" is too small for s monitor and 4k…how far are your guys sets away from you?~60cm (~23.5") when in competitive playing chair position, ~80cm (~31.5") when playing in Cavalo mode.
Monitor is wall mounted on a fully articulated arm and my desk is deep enough so that I'd have no problem pushing a bigger monitor further towards the wall, if needed, find an ideal position. It's not that 27" / 34" ultrawide is too small. I could simply go one size bigger with only positive effects.
I... I might cop that Louqe case or a similar one when I upgrade from my current 2700x. Make it my new server over the NUC. It would look something like this though like $700 worth of those parts would be recycled from my current server and the aforementioned 2700x.
Would need to figure out how to install Linux on it while it is headless, though.

So that ReShade path tracing magic is behind a paywall still? I'm devastated here, wanted to give it a whirl with Oblivion.
Put a GPU in then take it back out afterwards?

I was going to recommend something like this https://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/X11/X11SCL-IF.cfm that has IPMI , but they dont have any socket AM4 mini-ITX boards :/
Asrock Rack has one that are mATX but no mini-ITX

If you want adventure then there's still this (I really don't recommend it until future revisions get made)

You probably arent going through with that PCPP list anytime soon, but just in case make sure you change out the 960 EVO for something else. The 970 is out and much cheaper..

oh, duh.
I was going to start talking about performance-per-watt but you already have the 2700x so no need with that either. IPMI for a headless machine is really great though.
iDRAC 9 is so cool

By Kibner Go To Post🤔🤔🤔A note on PSU choice btw, that fanless SFX unit is fine and dandy but the price? Yeesh. A Corsair SF750 would cost around $10 less, and it will run passively upto 300w draw. The SF600 is $150 and it'll run passively under 240w.
Good call.
Considering your potential set up will be just a CPU, there's no way it'll pass the passive wattage load.
The price gap is even larger here. £130 for the SF750 and £150 for the Silverstone unit.
By Kabro Go To Postspeaking of psu, leaning on a corsair ax850. will that be enough if I throw two GPUs on it?Depends on the GPUs and the rest of the set up, but I imagine it wouldn't struggle.

running a dual xeon e5-2670v2 atm, which ive mentioned ill be turning into a network render once I build my new system this summer.

If you want do something like 2x 2080ti's with a 140w TDP CPU (not that TDP means much, just a small indicator) with all sorts of drives and crap.. i would go higher than 850w for sure.
how about a ryzen 3000 chips with 95w.
will 850w still not enough?
edit: nevermind, the Ryzen 9 3850X is rated at 135w.
guess ill be getting higher PSU.

Who mentioned undervolting a 2080Ti a few pages back? Adam?
I just undervolted mine and the results are pretty tasty. 1905mhz consistent boost clock at 868mv, +500mhz on the GDDR6, 66c peak temp and it no longer hits the power limit (280w max for my Gigabyte card). Gonna try and push it a bit more, I'm pretty conservative on the GDDR6 OC, and I reckon I could go a little lower on the voltage or gain a bit more on the clockspeed.
At stock it'd ride the power limit constantly and my boost clock would waver between 1700mhz-1800mhz, peak temps 72-73c (with the Accelero).

Probably pretty well binned chips, wonder how well they'll overclock and undervolt. The 8086K was supposedly a champ for both compared to the 8700K despite being practically the same CPU.
Rumors not looking good. Maybe Smokey is right after all

Undervolting doesn't mean overclocking, you'll just need to start from a higher point. Like say, say 1000mv or 975mv.
Easy way to go about is it use the auto overclocking in MSI afterburner, then after it's done it's thing save the curve as a profile.
Then edit that profile in the volt/frequency curve editor. Find what voltage your 2080ti boosts to 2000mhz at, then just drag all the sliders beyond that point down to the same level. If I were to do that now, 2000mhz is at exactly 1000mv, but if yours is a better bin then it could be lower.
You can go manually from there, try getting 2000mhz at a lower voltage.
Amd Reddit will burn to the ground if Lisa doesnt announce 5ghz and no benchmarks.
