By s y ngmi Go To PostIf you want a good low key, psychological horror, watch Suspiria(2018). It was on Amazon Prime last I checked. It's an Amazon Studios movie so it will definitely be there. A good recommendation for an underrated psychological thriller is Frailty, Bill Paxton's 2001 directorial debut.
Knives Out has premiered at TIFF and it has been very well received by critics.

Have you see the original? If not watch it for some amazing art design
Can't wait for Ada Astra. I'm a sucker for space movies so going to see that the weekend I get back from a wedding.
Ad Astra, Knives Out, The Irishman and The Lighthouse all HIGH on my to watch list
Need to see if Parasite is on the distros

By data Go To PostWatched House (1986). Figured it would be some sort of low key, psychological horror about a haunted house like The Shining.metal
Nope
It Chapter 2 sucks. It's way too long, overly relies on (bad) cgi and is mostly devoid of tension because every moment of potential scares is undercut with jokes. And it's not just the losers, Pennywise is literally cracking jokes as he's trying to kill guys. Also, the ending is completely abysmal.

I mean, it’s been like seventeen minutes since you said you liked Venom. Maybe not the time to go to bat, breh.

People need to learn liking something and knowing it's stupid/trash.
I'll post a personal example: Chronicles of Riddick.

The adult parts are definitely far weaker than the kids, but you could still easily make an amazing movie out of it. Alot of stuff could be cut, especially towards the end.
They decided against it though, by going the route of teasing fears and relying on jump scares and scary makeup and shit.
Tim Curry > that cheap ass new clown.

By i can get you a toe Go To PostHope they just bypassed the weird everyone doing Bev stuff.Yeah that’s not in the film, for good measure :lol
The hilarious thing is the defense of that to me.
"It was for bonding."
😒
More like King is just a creepy freak himself sometimes, it makes his writing good but there are times when it's like "bruh."

Saw Hobbs & Shaw tonight. The Fast movies were already ridiculous but this seemed like a parody compared with the others.
It wasn't terrible but it was way too long.

Might just be me but I feel a bunch of action movies just take too fucking long now. Even ones I like. Shit should ideally be like 1 hour and 45 min at the most. Anything more than that fuck you.
I'm watching a Horror or Horrorish movie a day up until Halloween.
Think I'm going to watch The Gate tonight

it was pretty bad
the bathroom shower scene with eddie and ..............bowers................. was fucking bizarre--the tonal shifts are fucking crazy. " I fucked your mother" as his last words despite being too scared to even move like ten minutes before. The ending suicide letter was problematic and awkward. " Guys I was trash...and I killed myself so yall could win".
I'd need to read the book, but I question whether the adult part is even necessary tbh. The kids overcame a LOT of shit in part 1 and the job was basically done except for him slipping away at the last second. Why not just let him die there aside from having a reason to add massive amounts of bloat?
By diehard Go To Postso did they actually digitally de-age 14 year olds? They 100% do and it's really jarring and noticeable. Every scene that Finn Wolfhard is in, for example, is super distracting because the de-aging cgi is so obvious. It's awful.
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostWhy not just let him die there aside from having a reason to add massive amounts of bloat? It rhymes with $$$
By diehard Go To PostIT is one of the longest novels i can think of, be glad there was only 2 movies. It should have been a 8 or 10 part series at Netflix or somewhere
By Dark PhaZe Go To Postit was pretty badBecause there is actually alot more to him in the books, that isn't in the movies. Not just the continuation of the killings that continue after a certain period of time.

Some stuff they cut rightfully as it's hard to pull certain things of in a movie and give it the right context. The entire backstory of Pennywise, the history of him in the town Derry and how he's actually involved in alot of tragedies and other things that happened there.
Last time I read the book was like 10 years ago so my memory is a bit fuzzy.
Dean is right. It should have been a longer series instead of a movie. Enough time to establish the context and not just having him as clown.
They could have also switched in between adults and children like in the book. Think that works alot better than just having one part for each of them.
Wonder if they planned all along to have the kids again so prominently in Part 2 with the de-aging stuff. They have a stellar adult cast, but Part 1 was fun because of the kids.
The adult part of the book is defo necessary. It’s all about how scary growing up is and then how childhood trauma haunts you as an adult.
There is a video being shared of one crucial scene of The Joker so watch out for spoilers.
It spoils much of the movie and it's fucking brutal.

By Kidjr Go To PostIt could be great if it doesn't take itself too seriously.Kinda doubt they will... the problem will be casting. Hard to sum up an era of Hollywood as well as Face/Off did
I want the Face/Off remake with 21 Jump Street's director helming it, and Jonah Hill/Channing Tatum as the main characters.
That Joker clip 💀
How about another joke? What do you get when you cross a mentally ill loner with a society that abandons him and treats him like trash? I'll tell you what you get. You get what you fucking deserve!"
Tell you what, this is potentially incendiary lol. You can depict it, a la Scorsese in Goodfellas/Wolf without advocating it. I don’t know if Todd Phillips is that dude. Super curious about how this film frames shit.

Joker is definitely Scorsese-ish.
You could see inspirations from Taxi Driver to King of Comedy everywhere, even without De Niro.

Like the sentence in context is even more wild because Every thing that happens is because the Joker is psycho. But he sees himself has a victim
It's not the film's fault but it's really just gonna inspire some fucked up shit since there are so many edgelords who will identify with him.
