By DY_nasty Go To PostThis what I mean 🙄
let me link you to some positive reviews
Nearly all MCU are pretty poor from a technical perspective. Star Wars movies sans I-III have always pushed the boundaries in that regard. Hell, ILM is Star Wars.
I don’t particularly like Star Wars but quite liked TLJ.
I thought it possessed higher quality cinematography, sound design and general composition than the Marvel movies. Writing may be hit or miss and pacing can get overwrought but the other major components of movie making are across the board better in TLJ.

The only MCU films with decent lighting and colour grading is all the pre-vis stuff in the GOTG films. Everything else is washed out bantha poodoo.
Yedlin the kween. I don't even know who DoP is on TROS, but TFA looked pretty good too. I'm assuming it's Mindel.

Bunch of goalpost moving. Don't really care if they're technically better. Still about the same in terms of entertainment and depth.
Black Panther had some nice stuff in the spirit world. And the close ups on cryin' Michael B Jordan in the second half, sensational shit.
But then
edit: the bit with the valkyrie in ragnarok looked nice

By FortuneFaded Go To PostI prefer story and characters over lighting.
So do I, which is another plus in The Last Jedi's favour. Watching it right now. Every single scene is character work, serving the story. Brilliant shit. What a movie, lads.
Your fav culd nevah.
It's got Disney's full blank check lol no one is disputing how star wars uses those assets to waste time shooting shit that would simply look cool
Rogue One is a perfect example of that. But hey it's something right...

I mean, Rogue One is exactly what an MCU Star Wars film analogue would look like. It's all texture. The bit at the end with Vader slaying dudes. I mean, that bit has people whooping and cheering. Breh, it's the villain slaying hero soldiers. You're supposed to be scared and horrified, but actually they just went for what looks good instead of what makes actual satisfying drama. They could have put Vader up against the Rogue One team to up the stakes. They could have given Jyn a character other than 'Felicity Jones tries hard to sound mean' or Cassian a character other than 'Diego Luna tries hard to look like Han Solo without having any charisma'. Donnie Yen and his mate were fun, but there was absolutely nothing for them to do.
They did fucking NOTHING with Ben Mendelsohn. Even Captain Marvel used him well.
Scust. Rogue One is boring as a dry cum shot porno.

I really liked Rogue Ones commentary on late stage capitalism and the hippies rise to popularity with looser form of sexuality and drug use. But most interesting of all was their (imo) very positive and subtle digs at kodokushi in Japan.
Can you imagine being the guy who sees Rey, *THE* Mary Sue Chosen One, and then goes on to say "brilliant character work"?
And Star Wars movies cook as long as MCU flix now too? Okayyyyy lol. Want to talk budget comparison and link Black Panther. And you not bothered n8? Aite.
I started off with calling star wars any other popcorn movie with a big booty budget and rattling off the dumb shit of TLJ and all I can tell is how strong the fandom still is.

Rogue One is about ‘saving who we love’. About ‘failure being the greatest teacher’. About ‘forgetting the past and forging your own destiny’. And, in my opinion (again, I have no desire to change your mind), it nails those themes, themes which make Star Wars accessible and universal, themes which contributed to it being the biggest fuckin’ franchise around. IV and V are very much about similar things to VII, whereas something like VIII or Infinity War is all surface-level texture.
Rogue One does have something to say. Forget your opinion on its quality. It is not the same kind of film as 80% of the MCU.
Point 1. If you use the term Mary Sue, your argument is rendered null and void due to using the same terminology as Max Landis. Lol.
Point 2. Rey's short-fix Force Awakening takes place in The Force Awakens, not in The Last Jedi. The Last Jedi's character work regarding Rey concerns her relationships with Luke and Kylo.
Point 3. Far as I can tell, The Last Jedi and Black Panther both cost about $200m dollars to make. Some sources vary on TLJ, perhaps putting it at around 250, while Black Panther's had a few sources at around 210-220. Not much in the grand scheme of things.
Point 4. The fandom argument is a little weak considering I just trashed Rogue One on this very page, and said TFA was all surface and texture a page or two ago.
Point 5. Max Landis lol.
extra sy post: point 6 ^ how are the intelligence levels of your posting as bad as your cooking

By Apollo Go To PostYou’ve proven time and time again you dont know anything about filmmaking so you should sit this one out.
Sorry, i proved that when?
Get bent out of shape about Star Wars brehs lol
I would watch a TLJ version with all the bullshit edited out. Think that would elevate it quite a bit in my eyes.

Just want to point out that there's been 2 pages of this, just in case any of you want to make a claim that you have any sort of a fucking high taste in film ever again.
By Laboured Go To PostAnyways Elegant Angel's MILF Performers of the Year 2019 is absolutely tops.
I really liked the way the directors interest in entomology was incorporated into the film, it really nailed that and the struggles of trying to become the greatest mom you could possible be. It was almost like experiencing Dear Ijeawele, or A Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie again. Powerful stuff, bravo.

I would post examples, but I might already have fucked up once today, and I know LFMartins is lurking in the shadows.

I know brother Wooden is on probation but I can say the lighting is excellent.

For a franchise that is all about action, MCU movies by and large have badly shot and edited action.

I am sure she is nice and all. But there is only one true Goddess Claire and that is N8's mother.
By reilo Go To PostNearly all MCU are pretty poor from a technical perspective. Star Wars movies sans I-III have always pushed the boundaries in that regard. Hell, ILM is Star Wars.Winter Soldier was technically sound, to be honest. The rest are at best alright.
Thor Ragnarok remains the best because it doesn't give a shit.
