Well, that's one way to discourage practicing safe sex.
is rapists using condoms even a thing btw? seems kinda paradoxical
yeah I'm about to commit a heinous crime that leave leave you traumatized for the rest of your life, but let's also care for protection

Clearly you thought that one through more than I did :lol.
Fuck now I can't get over the amount of absurdity that produces. Would they share it?

Incredible
https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/chandra/news/black-hole-image-makes-history
It's from ANOTHER galaxy 55 million light years away and the ring is so bright they were able to capture it from ground telescopes here. Wild af.
The stunning new image shows the shadow of the supermassive black hole in the center of Messier 87 (M87), an elliptical galaxy some 55 million light-years from Earth. This black hole is 6.5 billion times the mass of the Sun. Catching its shadow involved eight ground-based radio telescopes around the globe, operating together as if they were one telescope the size of our entire planet.
“This is an amazing accomplishment by the EHT team,” said Paul Hertz, director of the astrophysics division at NASA Headquarters in Washington. “Years ago, we thought we would have to build a very large space telescope to image a black hole. By getting radio telescopes around the world to work in concert like one instrument, the EHT team achieved this, decades ahead of time.”
I like how everyone online is all ... well this is anticlimactic, as though an object which doesn't emit light is going to be some grand image. It's fucking incredible we're even able to get an image of a blank spot in the middle of super charged light speed super heated gasses.
Also ... roaming black holes that can't be found are scary AF.

TY .... very cool stuff. Crazy actually. math is rad.

damn I had no idea about the condom thing with rapes tho
While I won't shit on efforts to deal with rape like spiky tampons or nail polish that shows if a drink has been spiked, most sexual assault is pretty much done by a family member, acquaintance or significant other. Efforts to deter rapists usually just defers them to someone else, someone more vulnerable or a better opportunity, it doesn't really deal with sexual assault in and of itself.

I don't even understand the relevance. The comment section isn't going to tell you who wrote most of the code. It's not just sexist it's dumb af but I guess that's it, so much reaching because how could a woman.

Besides, someone can come up with an algorithm but another person could be tasked with writing the implementation. That doesn't mean the algorithm belongs to the latter.
By JesalR Go To PostAlso, this weird insistence that more lines of code = more work doneThat, too. There's so much cruft that goes into it. Hell, just running a linter with auto-fixing can credit you with owning most of the lines just because you were the one to commit the change.

Meanwhile someone's doing some insane javascript. Hell I've known some coders who write lines on paper too while just out for a lark and then someone else puts that shit in.
Incredible that they were able to create algorithms that took data from multiple telescopes around the world and turned that data into an image that is the first of its kind, and I'm still waiting on cross page quoting.
