By Meier Go To PostIt's a two pronged thing though. It certainly would benefit City and other big clubs having B teams, but it would also be more beneficial to the actual players who are at those clubs. Playing professional games that matter is important. And knowing that the players will actually get games as opposed to hoping they do when they're out on loan is important.
I still think the proposed idea of adding another league into the overarching Football League pyramid to accommodate the added B teams without taking the place of other teams was a good idea. It's not as if the "football pyramid" hasn't been affected in England before. It is no surprise that the national teams from Europe who have been the most successful in recent years are from countries that utilize B teams.
It's absurd. If a club can't give chances to their youth, because they are buying expensive players from elsewhere then the problem is the club and not the league/system. Players know in which clubs they will get chances, if they choose quick big money over playing time is their call. Loaning players out is still an option for big clubs.
By Bungie Go To PostThe problem is not the football league, the problem is the academies of the top clubs stockpile the best young players but don’t provide a pathway to the first team. I wouldn’t think that the best solution to this is to destroy the integrity of the football league.
By Bungie Go To PostThose players should take ownership of their careers and go to a club where they’re going to get games then. Simple as that I thinkBungie in.
The youth leagues are not that competitive, and the Championship being so contested make it so it's not really prime for youth players to feature without pressure (blame the money essentially), but that's not really an excuse for a club that supposedly are interested in investing in the grassroots, developing an academy and that stockpiles talent for good money.
It's really low and dishonest to suggest that there is no path to your first team due to the quality of the youth leagues and not due to your own philosophy when, first, other clubs manage to do it, and second, your youth talent is leaving to feature in clubs competing in Europe, they are not going to a backwater mickey mouse club in some old forgotten continent.

Pep not used to managing in a country where anyone cares about anyone outside to top 2 teams. Pls understand
Pep is full of shit, he's had plenty of opportunities to bring on youth players. I still remember his last game at Bayern where he didnt sub anyone even after ET. I wouldnt be surprised if he had some sort of similar trajectory as Mou in a few years.
Used to think there should be B teams but big clubs should just stop hoarding youth. Would say Liverpool alone have ruined plenty a promising career.
Guy in the local takeaway tells me they bought £50 worth of crickets and can't even give them away; no one wants to eat crickets apparently. Who could've foreseen this.

While the end result regarding youth is pretty bad well, at least he didnt promote McTominay into the first team.

So is this Leonardo lad going to start for Dortmund?
Seems now that we wont be getting any CBs, Emery is going to have to put in OT with this defense.

you guys just don't understand, it's more important that we beat barnsley 9-0, there's no room for youf
A former Benfica player is playing against them and has missed an open goal, slipped up to leave Seferovic open for the first goal and now has received a red card.
All this in 30 minutes. It's a bit dodgy.

The CB situation was a bit shit towards the end of the season.
Akanji is out for now and it's unknown when he will get back exactly. Zagadou was out and is back in training, but both him and Diallo had some smaller injuries over time.
Toprak our 4th and now 3rd CB is a good replacement as experienced player, but we don't wanna continue with only 3 fit players.
Without Akanjis injury, I think he would have played at Boca until summer.
He's gonna get some time on the pitch, but it's more about including him and making him familiar with the club, team and everything.
By Bungie Go To PostThose players should take ownership of their careers and go to a club where they’re going to get games then. Simple as that I thinkI don't entirely disagree with you (I was not one of the dumb City fans who thought Sancho was making a mistake by leaving), but there are only so many players who are clearly at that level at that age. A lot of others still need time to develop to be desired by other notable clubs. If you're a kid at Man City or Man Utd who is 18-19, it's asking a lot of them to leave and join for instance a League One club permanently who may or may not play you since they've got more established pros already. The training they're getting there is probably not going to be as good so unless they're 100% nailed on right away to play, it's got to be a very difficult decision to make. It won't set them up necessarily for future success.

Across the Premier League, there are only 23 players under 21 who have played a single minute this season (7 of the 23 have only played in 1 game). It is not limited to big clubs -- there's not a huge incentive to play young players in any club in the Premier League because of how high the stakes are. 10 of the 23 young players are from the Top 6 clubs, for the record.

In the Bundesliga, only Bayern has enough money to buy instead of playing their own youth players. The rest of clubs give -more or less- priority to the youth players because is their only chance on getting good players with their budget.
Money ruined some parts of english football.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh. Tielemans 21, that left back Toure they just bought 22, 20 year old Faivre started playing recently as well, Pellegri who is 17 and already getting chances (and scoring), Rony Lopes just turned 23 and is playing a lot, Bennasser 22 and also a starter, and 21 year old Henrichs also starting. Last match they even started with a 17 year old Mukinayi, and 19 year old Serrano in their defense.
Just a week ago they started with a team, which exluding raggi, had an average age of 19. Maybe some experience can actually help them a bit.
The only redeeming part of being relegated is seeing players like Maja, Honeyman, Gooch and Hume come through tbh. And then they fuck off after a year like Asoro xd. Who can't even get a game for Swansea now. Nice trajectory, BITCH.

Probably their mistake was not getting quite enough ligue 1 ready players.

The bielsa thing is amazing. I like to imagine the guy infiltrating got caught metal gear solid style, but the escape chase was like Hitman where you awkwardly try to shoot someone a bunch before shit really gets out of hand and hide

Of course experience will help, but I doubt they're gonna continue the way they went with Jardim.

Apparently there was a bomb threat at my niece's school in Miami earlier today. Thankfully my grandma said nothing happened. Fucking country.
United on Sunday is on restricted sale now. If anyone wants to go let me know and can sort you out with a ticket via email. Meant to say this earlier in the week actually.
edit: should mention that it isn’t one I’m selling so you’ll need to reimburse me once I’ve bought it. Not made of money unfortunately

I'm going to be in London for a week soon (January 30-February 5) -- I'm hoping I can get up to Manchester to see City v Arsenal but I'm a little confused about the Virgin trains. The price seems exorbitant unless you opt for some sort of unconfirmed return at which point it's only £80. Does anyone know if that can be used on the same day or how that works? I'm pretty certain I can sort out a ticket but getting there seems a little confusing. Trying to find out about a City coach in the meantime.
Anyway, if I can't sort that out -- I'd be up for going to a Chelsea or Spurs game with any of y'all if there was interest or if someone has an extra. Looks like Palace also play but I don't think we've got any fans in the thread that I can recall.. wasn't there one at GAF?

This whole spygate Bielsa did is very common here in south america. Nobody really complains about it.

Edit: also, if you wanted to watch football teams that you don't support, you'll have a much better time watching lower leagues rather than trying to find another prem game.

My wife is going to be busy for a few days so I'm not especially interested in seeing a non-City match unless I go with someone.

Of course you could always wish for more, but even without the first team we got a shitload of players that ran through our youth, that are playing in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd league.
So the system works. Not everyone is going to make it.
Bayern said it themselves that they want more youth players and that the quality in the recent years wasn't good for several reasons. Scouting, coaches, players and the infrastructure. That's why they're investing that much. It's nothing that's gonna change overnight though.
