By rodeoclown Go To Post It's shockingly emotional, but as an entire movie, eh, it's pretty good.
I agree. It was aite.
To elaborate, it's fun, but there's no plot to speak of, really. Not that there usually is, but it's almost too mindless. It's a string of action scenes with stuff in between to tell you where the next dumb action scene will be. They got Djimon Hounsou and Jason Statham and then don't give them anything to do.
And I get it, Paul Walker's death threw everything into disarray and what they ended up producing is impressive under the circumstances, but it's not as good and fun as like Tokyo Drift or Fast Five.
That's exactly what I felt leaving the movie theater. It seemed as if they were simply moving from set piece to different set piece, and it felt kind of disjointed. Hounsou's dialogue was cringeworthy and I felt that both Tony Jaa and Kurt Russell were shoehorned in.
That being said, the callbacks to the previous movies did make me giddy.
Han. :(
Gal Gadot. :(

Basically, the whole movie has this running throughline about it being Brian's last ride. He drives a minivan now and is a real family man, but he says he misses the action and the bullets. Through the movie, Dom helps him realize that he has to get out of the game.
The last scene of the movie has what's left of the crew on the beach, with Mia and Brian's child there. Brian and Mia are playing with the kid and Dom gets up and drives away with this really sweet monologue from Dom playing over the scene. "You'll always be my brother." Dom stops at a traffic light, Brian pulls up aside him and says, "You didn't think you could leave without saying goodbye, did you?" They literally drive their separate ways, clips of Brian through the years play.
It's really sweet. Shockingly so.
Just came back from the movie theater. F&F always gets me too hyped and my poor car now smells of burnt plastic.
Movie was ok, I really hated the camera rotations during the fights and some CGI wasn't that good (like the house scene and a Paul Walker scene during the day).

Drift sucks bro.

Wrong.
Who needs to watch the kid from Sling Blade and Bow Wow in Japan?
Only decent thing about Drift was Han and he ended up dead.

Drift is probably my favourite of the series. The acting is just so brilliantly terrible. The characters so unbelievably un-realistic. It's just amazing. Love it.
