By the way, what alternate reality is that Twitter from? Eli Manning has been getting annihilated by the media. Dude barely gets two seconds to throw and the shock jocks are saying another rookie QB would do better? LOL. I'm not excusing Eli's play because he has been bad, but no one would do better behind that line.
Oh IT'S ON
It's surprising in that Haley seemed like the most obvious candidate to replace Hue Jackson, but it's justified and obvious based on the Browns' offensive performance so far. Although he was dealing with talent limitations, Haley had done a dreadful, dreadful job through eight games. Seemingly incapable of scheming for Baker Mayfield, Haley could not get Duke Johnson involved and seemed helpless as David Njoku and Antonio Callaway struggled. DC Gregg Williams is now the next man up to replace Jackson, but it's possible the Browns decide to go with senior offensive assistant Al Saunders. QBs coach Ken Zampese and Saunders will be candidates to take over the offense.
Vikings fans figuring out what Skins fans did regarding Cousins: Good player. Stats on paper much better than the reality of the situation. He'll always put up the kind of numbers where he can never take much blame, but then you stare at the fact that somehow only 20 points got put on the board.
Don't get me wrong, very solid QB. Very solid. It's just that percentage of the cap...he can't elevate a team enough at that salary.

WE BACK ON THE FITZMAGIC TRAIN
The Bucs have benched Jameis Winston and will move forward with Ryan Fitzpatrick as their starting quarterback.
It's a seismic move for a Bucs organization that owes Winston no guaranteed money beyond 2018. His 2019 team option is guaranteed for injury only. That creates a huge incentive to keep him on the bench for the remainder of the season. For his part, embattled coach Dirk Koetter insisted he's taking the situation one week at a time. "We’re just looking at this week," Koetter claimed. Fitzpatrick is no one's idea of a long-term answer at quarterback, but he has unquestionably been better than Winston. There's a non-zero percent chance Winston has played his final Bucs snap. Fitzpatrick, though uneven as usual, has stunningly cleared 400 yards in all three games he has played from start to finish this season. He will be in the QB1 mix against the Panthers.
By The Frankman Go To PostDidn't even bother posting for the Patriots game because fuck ESPN for scheduling that.ok
Texans acquired WR Demaryius Thomas from the Broncos in exchange for a fourth-round pick.
The teams are also swapping seventh-rounders. That's not bad compensation for a 30-year-old in what's essentially a contract year. Thomas has been in steady decline since the Broncos' Super Bowl 2015 season, but he remains durable and reasonably effective. He will certainly be an upgrade for the Texans in three-receiver sets after they lost Will Fuller (knee) for the season. Thomas will also have a much improved quarterback situation. He should be a more bankable WR3 than he was with Case Keenum. His arrival puts a dent in Keke Coutee's WR3 outlook. Courtland Sutton, meanwhile, could flirt with WR2 value in Denver. Amazingly, the Texans are traveling to Denver for Week 9.
Eagles acquired WR Golden Tate from the Eagles in exchange for a third-round pick.
Now this is a big-time move. Although now 30, Tate remains one of the league's best after-the-catch receivers and is a perfect fit for what the Eagles want to do on offense. He also addresses a drastic need for the defending Super Bowl champions. The Eagles will no longer have to run Jordan Matthews out there for 30 snaps per game. It is interesting that each of Tate, Nelson Agholor and Matthews are best utilized in the slot, though Tate is capable of playing outside if need be. Tate's arrival is unequivocally bad news for Agholor, who has had a poor season since Carson Wentz's return. As for the Lions, T.J. Jones will now slide into three-receiver sets alongside Marvin Jones and Kenny Golladay. #GolladaySZN is back on. Tate will be a free agent at season's end.
Seahawks released WR Brandon Marshall.
Marshall somewhat surprisingly made the 53-man roster after a strong summer, but the Seahawks began to phase him out after Week 3. Marshall's demotion coincided with second-year pro David Moore's rise. Moore just put on a show in Week 8 in Detroit, a game in which Marshall played only two snaps. Now 34, Marshall has had a long, strange trip career full of monster seasons, but he is near the end of the line.
Bills agreed to terms with WR Terrelle Pryor.
Per ESPN's Josina Anderson, Pryor is "traveling back to Buffalo with current intentions to sign." If Pryor was hoping for an offer from a different team after leaving his Bills visit, it did not materialize. Pryor, who averaged 16.8 yards on 14 Jets receptions this season, should see immediate snaps for the Bills' truly pathetic offense. We would suggest he should take some reps at quarterback, too. No. 3 Derek Anderson got wrecked against the Patriots on Monday night
Ravens acquired RB Ty Montgomery from the Packers in exchange for a 2020 seventh-round pick.
The sometimes receiver has one of the league's most versatile skill-sets for a running back but was seeing limited work in the Packers' backfield, touching the ball just 41 times in seven contests. Montgomery had a few monster games over the past three years in Green Bay but also had trouble staying healthy. He will add a new element to a Ravens backfield that has traditionally had a receiving threat but not this season. TyMont is a massive upgrade on Buck Allen. The move comes just two days after a Montgomery special teams fumble cost the Packers dearly in Los Angeles. It also clears the deck for Aaron Jones in Green Bay.
Rams acquired DE Dante Fowler from the Jaguars in exchange for a 2019 third-round pick and 2020 fifth-round pick.
The Jets and Packers were also reportedly interest, which explains the steep price. The odd man out of the Jags' defensive end rotation, Fowler will provide instant help for Wade Phillips' defense in Los Angeles. The No. 3 overall pick of the 2015 draft has made just one career start, but that could quickly change. Fowler registered two sacks on 165 snaps in Jacksonville this season. It's a nice addition for L.A., but there is no guarantee it's a truly impact one. Fowler will be a free agent at season's end.
Redskins acquired S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix from the Packers in exchange for a 2019 fourth-round pick.
It's not surprising in that the Packers had telegraphed they would not be extending Clinton-Dix, but it is surprising because he's been an every-snap player this season. Jermaine Whitehead, who just got roasted by Todd Gurley in Week 8, is the next man up for the Pack. With Montae Nicholson struggling mightily opposite D.J. Swearinger in Washington, Clinton-Dix will immediately slide in as a starter. The No. 21 overall pick of the 2014 draft is a free agent at season's end.

Unsigned Steelers franchise player Le'Veon Bell will not report by Tuesday's 4PM ET deadline and is out for the remainder of the 2018 season.
What a disaster. By not reporting, Bell forfeits the remaining $6.84 million on his $14.544 million tender. 26-year-old Bell has framed this as betting on himself and doing what is right for his fellow running backs, but this is money he will never make back. There is no guarantee a 27-year-old runner is going to cash in on the open market after sitting out an entire season healthy. Even if he does, a running back passing up $14.544 million guaranteed for one season of play in the modern NFL is not a sound business decision. It's not fair, of course, but it is reality. James Conner will finish out the year as a true bell-cow back/elite RB1. The Steelers could theoretically tag Bell again in the spring, but the sides will undoubtedly divorce.
The NFL is going to teach him (and everyone else who'd dream of doing this) a lesson this offseason once these offers come in way lower than he was expecting.
He'll wish he just took the franchise deal this year.
He'll wish he just took the franchise deal this year.
The funniest thing is if he reported... he was finally going to share the load with Connor so he wouldn't get overworked. The thing he was bitching about happened and he STILL didn't report.
Monday's Rams/Chiefs game has been moved from Mexico City back to Los Angeles due to poor field conditions at Azteca Stadium.Amazing.
It's surprising but absolutely the right call based on pictures and videos circulating on social media. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier Tuesday that some players were considering boycotting the game they were so concerned. Although moving the game was the right thing to do, it's an utter fiasco for the NFL, which continues to be confoundingly bad at ensuring neutral-site fields are in proper condition. The move has zero ramifications for fantasy.
I kind of get Bell's viewpoint. If he played this year and played bad or got hurt, future earnings could be done. Meanwhile, if he sits out this year and gets a decent guaranteed deal next year, he's at least secure.
Problem is I don't think it works out such that his new deal makes up for missing out on 14 million in salary. I could see him getting 3 years 45 million with 30 million guaranteed. The problem is he gave teams so much ammo to lowball him:
A. Missing a year. He might have lost something.
B. RB in Pittsburgh balling the eff out. Makes it seem like it's a Steeler thing and less of a Bell thing.

Can I get a Bills fan to tell me how Zay Jones does this?
I'm thinking the NFL might want to rethink these Fortnite skins

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Browns would "like to interview" former secretary of state and national security advisor Condoleezza Rice to be their next head coach.
What. This report was so wild and out there that we hesitated to post, fearing Schefter may have been hacked. He has not been. This is just the Cleveland Browns in action. The former George W. Bush administration official is well known for her football fandom, but aside from a stint on the college football playoff committee has never worked in the field. That makes sense since, you know, she has had bigger fish to fry. The whole plan is so crazy that we have a hard time believing it's anything other than a lark, but owner Jimmy Haslam was famously put over the top to draft Johnny Manziel by the advice of a random person on the street. If sanity prevails, Rice would probably be a better fit somewhere in the Browns' front office than on the sideline.
