By JesalR Go To PostDoesn't mean it isn't shit. It's just something fans have to get used to. What is the alternative? This was an inevitability based on how prevalent it has become here. These clubs and leagues are businesses -- they won't turn their back on money when they see how successful a competitor is doing the same thing. The sooner fans accept that, the better. They don't care about you. Money is all that matters.
NA sports teams change states. There would be, and often is, hell when that happens in Football
Interesting. Silva is very private.. he always would show up to events by himself and I've never seen him with a WAG. In all this, we've really heard very little about his wife/partner/"young friend" -- I guess her name is Jessica.
The alternative is to not chase every single nickel and dime
Not every stadium is named after a sponsor, shirts aren't yet collages of sponsor logos. At some point you're just killing your product in the pursuit of exploiting every single commercial option available.
Why don't Man Utd make tickets £60 at their base rate? They'd still fill Old Trafford.

By Hitch Go To PostThe alternative is to not chase every single nickel and dime.I am saying what is the alternative for fans not the clubs. You have to accept it or just walk away from the sport which frankly is pretty unappealing for most.
By Hitch Go To PostBoycotts are doable but they never actually happen for whatever reasonDidn’t Liverpool fans protest an increase in ticket prices a few years back and the club gave in?
Penny, it looks like a very promising American youth player (City legend Claudio Reyna's son) will be joining Dortmund. I don't know much about this guy, but by all accounts he is a Pulisic level talent and should become very good.
By Laboured Go To PostEl oh elThis doesn't mean he'll be magically okay after the treatment, ya goof. He's flying out to see a specialist who will take a look and probably poke and prod a bit and then fly back in the same evening if the tests can be completed, otherwise he'd come back the next day presumably. By all accounts, this is a multi-month injury. His agent said it didn't happen via a challenge so I'm actually more nervous that it's going to be substantially worse than the last knee injury he had.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostDidn’t Liverpool fans protest an increase in ticket prices a few years back and the club gave in?Yeah but Liverpool have generally proved more adept at that kind of thing than other clubs. Look at the difference between their protests at Hicks and Gillette and the tepid response of a Newcastle to Ashley.
The fans left 10 minutes before the end of the match iirc, Sunderland at home in 2016/17 I think
Would take a stronger protest in this case I think, a full boycott that actually hits the club in the pockets rather than threatening to

By Hitch Go To PostThe fans left 10 minutes before the end of the match iirc, Sunderland at home in 2016/17 I thinkUnfortunately the money they'd get for playing a game overseas would more than compensate for anything the local fans could do. The matchday revenue, shirts, etc. are a very minor part of the equation.

The matchday revenue, shirts, etc. are a very minor part of the equation. You underestimate it I think. Weigh up the gate and marketing boost of one game abroad compared to multiple games in a half-empty stadium. Suddenly you're trying to sell a product that is much less appealing, there is something inherently shit about sport played in front of very few fans.

It will not be fine. When a club moves in the US, it leaves behind a lot of 'not fine' situations. It disrupts communities, landscapes, and economies on both ends.
When clubs start deciding that it's perfectly OK to play matches all over the world, they edge closer to being able to leave their home location. What is the point of Real Madrid being a Madrid club, or Manchester United being a Manchester club if they play their games all over the world. Why not just move? They can make more money in LA, London, maybe even Laos.
Owners and businesses will maybe consider those locations from a financial prospect, but it absolutely will not be fine.
By JesalR Go To PostI don't think you can say this and also say 'it will be fine'You should probably prepare yourself for this possibility. But i don't think it will happen in your lifetime or not for a very long time at least. Not to America at a minimum. The market here just can't sustain it -- the thing that props up the soccer economy are the TV deals and that money isn't in place here because there just isn't enough of a general fanbase and if teams left the UK en masse then obviously those deals would get minimized.

Certainly as far as American sports go, there is a very good chance at some point that a perennially weak NFL team could get moved to London. Spurs and Fulham (with Khan buying Wembley) are certainly counting on the possibility. Khan is definitely at least giving himself an option to move the Jags in the future. I don't think they'd start one from scratch in London but that may be easier.
Either way, this sort of thing will start small and honestly almost assuredly remain small for quite some time. If only because the US market will ultimately get games from lots of leagues -- why bother to just have La Liga when they can get a few from each of the top 5 and before you know it have 20 games during the season from various leagues. China will be the same of course. You'll probably see it grow to 4 or 6 games total [league wide] in 10 years after it starts.
It is understood that it could be linked to a video on social media although that could not be confirmed.
Huge offside on the Copenhagen goal. They showed it on the big screen, making ståle solbakken so angry, that he gestured to where the guys controlling that shit by hitting his own head until it started bleeding. Absolute mad man.

Speaking of which...
SOCCER pervert Adam Johnson is hopeful of an early release from jail after offering to coach budding stars.
The paedo believes he could be home by October - five months ahead of schedule - because he has offered to ‘give back’ to the community.
The disgraced star has vowed to play football again - with interest already from clubs in India and China.
He's only 31. I'd take him at Cov. We've already had Marlon King, Lee Hughes & David Pipe.
