the league cup doesn't matter in terms of importance, but i think it's a good way to let your benched players and younger, talented players get some play time.
Afternoon, lads. Have we lost in another stadium yet?
By Vivalapizza Go To PostAren't FIFA already pitching a Club World Cup. I'm sure there were reports about it earlier in the year, $25b league/tournament backed by Saudi/UAE/Japan and United, City, Madrid and Barca are all reportedly on board already.https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/apr/23/club-world-cup-fifa-meeting-gianni-infantino
Just a matter of time.
By Vivalapizza Go To PostThis wouldn't work in practice. Moving to a super league would mean the teams that don't make the cut are cut-off from the gravy train. The amounts of money would be so vast that being promoted from a domestic league, or even from a B league to an A league, would be pointless. Those clubs wouldn't be able to survive and there is no way a super league will be established with any kind of equitable money sharing deal. But that's kind of like the premier league now. It shouldn't be impossible to balance things out if every other league can handle promotion and relegation.
And in any case as others have said, there's no chance the whole thing is not just the 16 richest clubs forming their own little club with no relegation and playing all their games in Dubai and Beijing.
By Hitch Go To PostI think I'm ready to let the League Cup go btwThrow the EPL teams out of it.
Shit competition.
By sohois Go To PostBut that's kind of like the premier league now. It shouldn't be impossible to balance things out if every other league can handle promotion and relegation.I don't see why they couldn't do this?

90% of the games in Europe...the odd game in the US/China.
By Vivalapizza Go To PostFor the wealthiest clubs match day revenue is <20% of overall income. I don't think the gate is such a huge concern anymore.
But I don't see clubs being too happy to play many games outside of CET which is where their biggest market is.
I know that, but you are not going to see Juve vs Barca in Vietnam with $10 tickets.
I see a Super League in the future, but never in terms of being played around the world.
By Kidjr Go To PostAs always this is about money, the premier league just generates wwwwaaaaaayyyyy to much money in comparison to other leagues. A super league is literally the only way to challenge the EPL financially and even then I dont think it would topple it (perhaps the aim is just to close the gap).Yeah, pretty much.
Lol, take away el classico and Loliga truly earns it's moniker
Would be interested to see what the response would be if the FA and PL joined forces to issue a 'once you leave you're not coming back' ultimatum to English clubs looking to join a European Super League
I wonder if there is a link between the PL and non televised games getting four times as much as those leagues who show all games often on multiple broadcasters.
I think Italy puts in just as much money as England for CL games, but the serie A rights are a shamble.

FA would ok it, just like they told United to play in the World Club Cup. If it was a UEFA Super League then they wouldn't want to risk losing European votes when they bid for the World Cup again.
By Kidjr Go To PostI dont know why I'm so against it, but I really dont want a super league either. Maybe I am a Brexiter after all.Easy to say when you already have the super league in your backyard, innit.
At least it isnt Bundesliga
Ex-Bayern player Stefan Effenberg: "If [Witsel] is one of the most notable new players, then it's clear: The Bundesliga is currently not attractive for top players. And that's why I'm sure the gap between the Bundesliga and the Premier League as well as the other top leagues will be much bigger"
By Flutter Go To PostAt least it isnt Bundesliga
Has the Bundasliga ever been attractive for the top non-German players?
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostHas the Bundasliga ever been attractive for the top non-German players? They beat Madrid to Lewa, didn't they?
By sohois Go To PostThey beat Madrid to Lewa, didn't they?
I deleted a second part of my post as I then remembered some other tops players who moved there, but I also realised they were all signed by Bayern. Vidal, Benatia, Costa.
Lewa was already there, not sure if Real wanted him when he was at Dortmund.
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostI deleted a second part of my post as I then remembered some other tops players who moved there, but I also realised they were all signed by Bayern. Vidal, Benatia, Costa.Well the reason that Bayern can get the big names is because the Bundesliga isn't the issue, money is. Teams like Dortmund and Leverkusen can never compete with the wages and transfer fees offered by the PL or a PSG.

By bud Go To Posta-are arsenal invited to any of these super leagues…? 😳Nope but think about it if all the best teams are off in their own super league we might actually
By Meus Renaissance Go To PostTo anyone who watched the Arsenal game in full…
Just how well did we do with the pressing?
It was clearly a work in progress.
Man City have extremely quick thinking players so when we over committed they took advantage.
First time the players have had to perform with that intensity and I think we willl see improvements in the next few gamea.

No excuses for most of the team, except Guendouzi. Not to mention he had at least a few good touches and passes.

you tried. it was shit but you tried.
I’m not really into the super league idea either but I think opinion will change on it if it does become a thing and the marketing engine starts up.
They’ll know that there will be a lot of resistance, so they’ll go heavy on making it appealing

By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostSerie A looking like it might be postponed.I don't like that. Of course I understand not playing on the day of the funerals but otherwise....
By Plasma Go To PostI don't see why the Champions League isn't enough nobody needs a Super League.Because you can't capture the Chinese or Indian market playing in the middle of the night in Spain.
Re: La Liga killing itself. How disgusting, this is truly sacrificing the sport for money, now one team will lose a home game to play in front of plastics on an unknown climate.
By Meus Renaissance Go To PostTo anyone who watched the Arsenal game in full…

Yeah work in progress, key thing that I realised city when beating the press dont play the ball into the man (all the time) they play into space cus you cant really press space.
When the press us, we played to feet every time so you can see the where the ball is going to go so pressing becomes much easier.
We still dont do it enough as a unit imo, time where ramsey would go no one would follow but thats teething problems that I'm sure will be ironed out.
By inky Go To PostThink a super league would just get boring after the novelty of the first season.i wouldnt be particularly thrilled having to look up every single kickoff since every match is played on a different country and then watch a Madrid/Barca final every year
By Xpike Go To Posti wouldnt be particularly thrilled having to look up every single kickoff since every match is played on a different country and then watch a Madrid/Barca final every year
It would just be like the CL right now and you get by ok with that. It will never be a league with clubs playing outside the base cities.
Super League sounds good form an international standpoint but I'm assuming that it would kill national leagues. It does seem like most European leagues are dominated by one or two team/s so it might make them a but more competitive.
By Plasma Go To PostI don't see why the Champions League isn't enough nobody needs a Super League.Yeah, it's the perfect european competition.
