Another example why ending the transfer window early was a ridiculously stupid idea. City were already arguably in need of another midfielder and now this. Would have had over 2 more weeks to get someone in.

of the season where there's 2 international breaks.

There is no team in the Premier League who couldn't buy another player in general, let alone if they had a key player go down for a quarter of the season. This is not 2010 or even 2015. Every single team in the Premier League has countless money to spend. Regardless, the point was that City already WANTED a midfielder and should have had weeks to correct that wish as is. Now they are down another midfielder for what might be 3 months and who knows, maybe longer.

Injuries happen in every month, not just in July

Just dip into your holistic super-academy and pluck someone from there, that’s what it’s for.
By Oddinho Go To PostInjuries happen in every month, not just in JulyThis is true. They can happen at any time. Which is why it makes precisely zero sense to take away any period of time you have to react to them.

The window opens again in January though, not like the big bad clubs like City can't go ahead and do their immoral business then.

Arsenal didn't sell players, so they opted not to sign replacements. Bournemouth just spent about £50m on three players, by the way. They're not exactly a low-spending club any more and they have no reason to be. None of them can afford to be, frankly.
If you are down a key player for one quarter of the season, it is not "overspending" to bring someone in. It is being prudent. Especially if you're one of these relegation-threatened clubs because their margin for error on the pitch is minimal at best.
kdb injury sucks :( but at least it's early in the season so it won't interfere with CL too much. hopefully he has a quick recovery. maybe he can come back in time to play vs spurs.

Speaking of Man City, this is a good article about what their noble owners (and others) have been up and is generally a good read if you're interested in MENA Politics and how football is basically an institutional hostage in that part of the world.

By Perfect Blue Go To PostMaybe if City weren't incompetent during the actual transfer window and bought in a midfielder this wouldn't be an issue. In this case it is City. But KDB will not be the only player to suffer an injury in the next few weeks. It was a bad decision regardless of this instance which simply *reinforced* why it was a bad decision.
Ah I'll think we'll be fine without KdB for a while. This just means he'll be at peak form after christmas with knock out CL rounds. The type of midfielder we need wouldnt really cover for KdB anyway. 2 Silvas, Foden and even Sterling can do that job just fine.
Poor unfortunate ManCity, how will they ever deal with losing one player. How will the best manager in world football deal with this crushing blow?

this is honestly one of my biggest fears in life. i've had actual nightmares of this being done to me.
play a youth player or something. you all have plenty of depth to get by w/o KDB.
unless you're a 1 man team after all.

At least we're in Pot 1 this season, but there will still likely be a very tough team in Pot 2 and this would include a second game against Pot 3 which could include Monaco or Lyon. It will be nice to see Foden get more opportunities but this could be a season-altering injury in the end. Either way, it guarantees even more miles on the legs of Fernandinho and David Silva which is a shame.
Yep. As much as I think KdB is great, this wouldn't be as much of a loss to City as say, Spurs losing Kane.
By FortuneFaded Go To PostPatrick Roberts is still at City. He's was in Barcelona to be loaned to Girona as of a day or two ago. I guess this could alter things since it hasn't been made official, but it's definitely better for him to go.
He's clearly their best player. Sure they have replacements but they're a weaker team without him.
Why wouldn't a City fan be concerned about it?
Strange.

Fulham
Cardiff

I suspect that they will do well without him.
