That Arsenal lad had a better game than Xhaka, Ramsey, Ozil, Miki, Auba.
Started off a bit shaky and didn't help with players giving him underhit passes. However, I thought he improved as the game went on and did well to press that City midfield when he got the chance.
Doesn't help that he had to play with Xhaka who is average and should be dropped if Arsenal want to aim for top4 this season. Let the kid play alongside Torreira and see how he does.

By Flutter Go To PostGuess this is what we should expect from United this season. Similarities everywhere.Says a lot that Mou hasn't changed his approach in almost 10 yrs.
By Officer_lool Go To PostSays a lot that Mou hasn't changed his approach in almost 10 yrs.Aye, basic play hasn't changed. Which is makes sense why he isn't looking for an RW. It's just not in his tactics.
To be honest though it could work. We are just not well equipped for this tactic and I'm not sure we should.
Whether we are well equipped or not I am sure the likes of Pep etc etc have definitely been able to work out Mous tactics because we are so predictable now and must surely have worked a counter plan for his tactics. It also explains why we struggle to break down lower table teams because we are the ones who have to attack then and Mous tactics are based extremely heavily on counter attack.
Though hopefully with Rui Faria not his assistant anymore maybe hopefully we will be able to come up with a new plan of attack though I doubt Mou trusts anyone enough to adopt their tactics.

By Killer7 Go To PostThat Arsenal lad had a better game than Xhaka, Ramsey, Ozil, Miki, Auba.I thought he was genuinely brilliant. The Afro kid. Proper rangy legs, loved a tackle, always passed forwards. Started nervously and missed the interception for Aguero’s 1-on-1 but other than that he was the only real highlight in what was a really poor Arsenal performance.

Naby Keita on the front of The Times’ The Game pullout today. Headline “worth the wait”. One game and we are already in #NK8 appreciation mode.

Not to mention a good defensive winger.

Right now on that side we have Lingard and Mata. Lingard can do well with his workrate but Mata... well he's slow as hell. Also need quality fullbacks for it.
On the attacking side, I agree with you that last season we were just horrible at it. A lot of lower table teams are pretty adept at defending deep and our modus operandi was to flick, overlap inside a very narrow area.
While it does look like we have a new plan of attack now, Rashford isn't really capable of challenging defenders to the ball and bring it to the final third, at least not yet. Not to mention most of our first teamers haven't gone into preseason to get it down pat.
Gotta hand it to Liverpool, Coutinho, Firminho, Mane, Salah, Keita or 'Keith' as my autocorrect keeps insisting. Are all quality signings and they didn't have to break the bank for them. That's a solid transfer ethos.

That's a solid transfer ethos.Even Van Dijk which we did break the bank for is certainly worth that money, which will become peanuts in the current market. If the likes of Maguire is valued at £60m then what we paid for Van Dijk is nothing. He’s already scored a derby winner and helped us reach the CL final, which there’s no way would have been possible with Matip and Lovren.

Recruitment strategy is so good.
Even Shaqiri looks a snip at £12m.
Aye.
Pessimistic about the chances of us actually working well with a Director of Football, considering Ribalta left in frustration because his choices kept being veto'ed by Mourinho and Woodward.

David Preece has done a great dissection of Kepa and Alisson, from athleticism to aerial agility, distribution and mental state. It’s a good read.
Interesting part is how Kepa is stylistically very similar to De Gea and Casillas, sitting deep on his line with an “A-Frame” body shape for blocking shots. His legs are set wide apart and he uses quick, small two footed jumps to reduce the chance of being caught out on the move.

There is much to be said about scouting as well, Manchester club has lost touch - not everything that glitters is made of gold. Going for the shiny shiny and getting swindled by super agents.

We really do have a lot of good prospects coming up, although most of them aren't really ready yet.
God if we keep having Darmian as an RB against Spurs with this average position against Leicester, it will be a massacre.
If you told me 2 years ago that Lingard is one of our best players and we are sorely missing his contribution I'd report you to a mental institution.

You can tell after teams press even once whether they've been coached on how to do it properly or not. If they haven't, playing out from the back is little risk, high reward.
One game into the season and Duncan Castles is already whinging about City time wasting. Don’t know how to post tweets but it’s not hard to find. What is wrong with that man.
