By sohois Go To PostIt's ridiculous to talk about players like Wilshere and Shelvey; no one can make a difference if they don't get picked. Delph and RLC were perfectly capable of linking up the play but Southgate just insisted on Alli.Delph and RLC are shite. Sorry to say.
The injuries to our more technical midfielders was ultimately our undoing. If Chamberlain, Winks and Lallana had been available we would have had much better ability to control the matches. You need more than just Henderson to compete properly against serious teams.
You lads are all overthinking it. The truth is simple, you can't expect to win a big game with that many Spurs players.

By Laboured Go To PostHave to say Kane looked gassed for two thirds of that match.Strange performance from him. Was a bit greedy on that ball that he ultimately hit the post with (could have squared it for Sterling) and then about maybe 10 minutes later, he received a ball with his back to goal right at the edge of the area and I was so sure he'd turn and shoot but instead he tried to play a diagonal ball to Lingard maybe but it was overhit. He seemed to be between two minds in the game -- couldn't believe how deep he was dropping late on. It was an odd second half and ET for England in general.

He's not a bad player at all
Feel bad for Rashford -- he was unbelievably shit but that was a tough environment to put him on in. Someone (Killer?) mentioned Welbeck would have been the better option and they're right. He's got experience and his scoring record for England is so good.
Continuing to use Dier as a sub throughout the tournament was also a little strange. I don't think he performed well at any point from what I can recall. RLC or Delph definitely would have been the better option IMO.

By Laboured Go To PostEngland’s problem is we have no passers in MF and so we rely on energy instead. Croatia just kept spreading play through Rakitic and Modric like it was nothing and preserved a lot of energy as a result. Their use of the ball was so much more intelligent. That’s a limitation of our player pool not the manager.
It's a shame Winks got injured because he showed he could do that job to a decent standard when he came in
It's kind of incredible how it seems that the more tired Croatia gets, the more that midfield of Modric & Rakitic impose themselves on the game and force it into the opponent's end. Neither was spectacular, but both sublime after the 45-minute mark.

Neither was spectacular, but both sublime after the 45-minute mark.Yeah, not an especially impressive performance from either of them, but every time they touched the ball in and around the box late on I was terrified they'd produce some magic. Don't think anyone for England today at least put any fear in the opponents.

I can see why Mou likes Perisic.

By Auto Simeone Go To PostDelph and RLC are shite. Sorry to say.But then, how awful are players like Strincic and Vida and Rebic? Croatia won with players that wouldn't even make it into a 50 man England squad, so it really shouldn't be too much to ask of Delph and RLC to provide some midfield cover.

By Hitch Go To PostIsn't Rebic a solid Bundesliga player?Pretty mediocore overall, but killing Bayern in the cup final and having an amazing work rate make him valuable. Not really great at crossing/passing. So yup he's solid, but nothing more yet.

Croatia is the first decent team England has faced in this tournament. Belgium are gonna be a tough customer based on this evidence
Thought England were the better side in the first half. Croatia the better team overall but Vrsaljko being quite harsh here.
By Hitch Go To PostIsn't Rebic a solid Bundesliga player?was pretty garbage can but turned it around this season.
Wouldn't say he's very good, but certainly above replacement level. All in all an above average player.
