By flinbad the flailer Go To PostWas logged off, and, for that reason, without an ignore list applied, I saw Kermit had replied to me. Of course. So I'll take the bait this once.
Christ, you use "better" and "best" in the same (comma-spliced) 'sentence' and still can't seem to conceptually link the two. If you can't do that for yourself by this point in your mental development, then I can't bother wasting my time trying to explain simple semantics and rhetoric.
Not sure why you felt the need to be a bile-spitting cunt here, when I responded respectfully, but oh well.
Anyway, in the context of our conversation (and really, in every other realm) 'better' (improving) and 'best' (ultimate) are words with such different meanings that semantics don't even apply. You said the sport is getting worse, which is fair enough, and I was saying that in the PL era, we are probably the best team. Those perspectives aren't linked.
Six is a self-servingly arbitrary boundary for your numbers. Add 8 more seasons, and you still get only four different winners. Remove the one extreme anomaly, and the numbers are even less flattering.
But... that's my point? I was saying the PL is more competitive than ever. For the first 19 years of the Premier League, there was only four different winners, and 12 of those were one team (United). Since 2011, no team has won consecutive seasons and we've had four different winners. We also now have a true top 6 race each season for the 4 CL spots, when, prior to City's rise, the top 4 race was only ever to see who could guarantee a CL place between Liverpool, United, Chelsea and Arsenal.
So, I'd be (now) willing to argue the PL is better and more competitive than it was pre-City's rise to title contender.
Remove the one extreme anomaly, and the numbers are even less flattering.
Fancy deriding the use of facts and then, mid-argument, suggest we remove a fact that dismantles your argument. Brilliant.
And back to ignore. 💁🏻
You ain't fooling anybody lad.
I admire Liverpool, they play fantastic football, the right way and half their players are likable
I cannot bring myself not to root for Madrid in the final.

i'm rooting for liverpool, but i know they're going to lose. madrid are too clinical, and ronaldo will score easily against that defence.
liverpool have also fizzled out towards the end of the season. salah's playing like it's already ramadan.

That’s my main worry.
My only shining light is that’s Madrid have only won 3 if their last 9, so they’re not exactly in great shape either.
By Oddinho Go To PostYou should all pull for Liverpool here, guys. Root for the underdog. Obey your heart. This thread has convinced me over the last year or so that Madrid are in fact always the underdog so it's only right we root for them.
I'd root for literally any other team against Madrid (except maybe Barca).
Even City winning would pass by like a fart in the wind. Liverpool winning is the worst ending.

By Unreal Champ Go To PostFrancisco Gento has said Real beating Liverpool in the final will be a piece of cake.He probably has about a 90% chance of being correct.
If Liverpool doesn't flummox them the way they did, say, City, then Madrid will almost certainly dominate the match and comfortably win.
I can see the first half being contentious and ending 1-1, but Madrid easily controlling the second half for a 3-1 victory.

Not that I think that loser mentality from Hugo should be encouraged, but the fact that it’s a disappointment when Spurs don’t win titles is indicative of how far they’ve come under Poch. Had qualified for the CL once before he come and now it’s three on the trot.

They're still the Harry Kane team, but you can't deny that Spurs are on an uptick and will only continue their upwards trajectory for as long as Poch and Kane remain. New White Hart Lane will only make them stronger too.
