The only player to score against Barca from Villareal was Sansone. He may be from Bayern's academy but Parma made him the great player he is today. #ParmaLegend
By Francis Go To Post40 goals in 70 games isn't exactly bad, but I was still expecting more from Higuaín. It feels like he's regressed since leaving Napoli. He regressed right back to his previous form, confirming that it was Sarri, not he himself, who made him 'world class'.
But he gets the trophies he wasn't needed for, and that's apparently all that mattered to him.
By batong Go To PostIs that the first Sevilla win since the United game? They beat Sociedad last weekend. They got the Andalusia Derby with Betis on Sunday with massive EL implications.

How did we lose to Sevilla? They lost 5-0 in the CDR final and looked like a Sunday league team, barely had energy to walk let alone run.
Zidane cannot be happy with our defensive 'work' this season, he must be furious af.
Imagine this game meant something for us, if something was on the line.

La Liga isn't like the PL where the top 4 teams are great and the rest are shit, any of the lower position La Liga sides would cruise the PL.

By Arnie Go To PostDo you have a manager yet PennyLooks like it's gonna be Favre. They had talks already and everything, but I suppose they didn't want to announce it during the season. Both Nice and us are still having an important game ahead.
We got 2 signings on the horizon and a couple of interesting rumors.
Hitz the keeper from Augsburg is gonna be the GK for the bench. Lichtsteiner from Juve might be joining us.
And we supposedly made an offer for Neres from Ajax. Oh and we're interested in Diadie Samassékou from Red Bull Salzburg.
Plus alot of other names that were dropped like :
Bryan Cristante, Mohamed Elyounoussi and a couple of more.

Edit: Thought Arsenal were unlucky to lose 3-1 tonight, they at least showed some sort of spirit and fight that they have been missing in most away games this season. Time to get Sunday out of the way and then focus on what is going to be a #massive summer for the club.

By Fergie Go To PostHe isn't wrong
Allegri’s track record over the past decade makes him the leading candidate among the more heavyweight managerial figures in Europe but, with Juventus playing in the Italian Cup final and then going for a fourth straight Serie A crown in Rome on Sunday night, has not yet been approached.
Arsenal do not want to approach managers in work at an inconvenient moment and so must wait until most of the major European leagues have finished before accelerating their process.
Discussions, however, are being held internally and majority owner Stan Kroenke was personally at The Emirates on Sunday for Wenger’s last home game as manager.
Arsenal are not settled yet on whether to go all out for an established current manager like Allegri or Monaco’s Leonardo Jardim or a younger head coach-style option. They want to conduct a full recruitment process and intend to make their appointment by at least the start of the World Cup next month.
A big, proven figure like Allegri would likely bring greater staff numbers and salary expectations but would represent less of a risk in a Premier League that is now packed with many of the main ‘galactico’ managerial figures in world football.
A younger, less experienced manager like Vieira, Arteta or Hoffenheim’s Julian Nagelsmann would represent a greater gamble, but the Kroenke family know that any appointment carries risk and may feel emboldened by their decision last year to hire Sean McVay, then aged just 30, to the position of head coach at their Los Angeles Rams NFL team.
Arteta, 36, is particularly well regarded inside Arsenal for his influence both on and off the pitch as a player between 2011 and 2016 but, other than the past two seasons as assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, has no senior coaching experience. Vieira is the coach of New York City, who have improved their finishing position in each of his two seasons in 2016 and 2017.
Is Jardim even any good?
It may shock you but I don’t really give a flying fuck about French football.
I remember making Kyoufu so mad once by saying that, when Newcastle were in that really lazy habit of just buying players from Ligue 1.

Looking forward to Mou leaving.
Team of individuals. Don't think he's improved us very much as a team to watch. You see the development of City (who have rebuilt their squad the last 2/3 seasons and invested wisely), Liverpool, Spurs and then compare that to us. Looking at the table there's been progress upwards, sure, but there's plenty of fans out there who have not enjoyed watching this team under Mou.
There's no identity. Just a bunch of individuals thrown onto the pitch who play off the cuff and look disinterested half the time. Mou definitely hasn't got the best out of players and maybe playing defensively just doesn't suit the players at the club. We've probably looked at our best when going a goal behind and chasing games as the team just has to go for it. Then there's a lot of them that probably play with fear too.
Have no idea which United will turn up tomorrow and how they approach the game. Just can't expect it'll be as bad as the last vs Brighton. Feel it'll get to a point that players will start to turn on him again. Just hope he can leave the club in a better position than when he arrived.

By flinbad the flailer Go To PostNeither he nor Juve have done anything since he arrived that wasn't accomplished previously and separately.Of course, but that doesn't mean our attack hasn't significantly improved since we signed Higuain, which is really all you can hope for when signing 90M€+ players on a 7M€+ salary isn't the norm for your club, but rather the exception. I'm still very happy we signed him.
Besides - and this is something a large portion of our fanbase doesn't seem to understand - maintaining our current level of competitiveness through the years isn't the worst fate you can wish for your club. If we keep this up, we're bound to win that damned cup sooner or later. Later.
By NinjaFridge Go To PostlolCalling anything from now or the recent past the 'greatest X in history' is so myopic and misguided as to be comical. The sport has perhaps never been less competitive or more stratified than it currently is, and the results reflect that. Three of Europe's five largest leagues are monopolies, and the trophy for the most prestigious competition in the world is merely passed back and forth between two clubs (increasingly, really, it's just one club playing keepy-uppies). Being among the top tier is the accomplishment of money, inertia, and the money brought in by inertia.
When the records fall, it isn't a sign of anything getting better; it's a symptom of football as a whole getting worse.

And on the personal side, his performances certainly haven't improved. It's apparent to anyone that the season before his transfer is the best he'll ever have - an aberration in a specific system that he abandoned.
I have been a bit surprised by the new Arctic Monkeys album. Completely different sound from the last one, interested in seeing what will be the reaction to it.
Halfway through it and I really like it, Alex Turner sounds a bit like David Bowie at times, definitely feels like Bowie was an influence in the making of this album.

The problem isn't Higuain, it's really our midfield and / or style of playing. We haven't really done anything to properly enable Higuain. Or rather, we went overboard on wingers (Douglas Costa has been an absolute delight to watch, especially in the second half of the season, Bernardeschi got injured just when he was starting to shine), but didn't buy the right players in the middle. Khedira is having an on/off season (still managed to score more than Insigne, somehow :D) and Matuidi, bless his three lungs, brings absolutely nothing to the game ball at his feet. Pjanic can't create much with these two at his sides, which translates to Higuain and Dybala having to backtrack a whole fucking lot. Replace Higuain with Kane or Suarez or Lewandowski, have them perform the same tasks Higuain has to, and absolutely nothing changes.
Signing Higuain was the right move, we needed a ST upgrade, it's just that we should've also signed an additional technical midfielder. Or two. Or kept Pogba. I believe the boy Bentancur will come good next season, but I'd kill for Milinkovic-Savic. We'll probably get Emre Can, if that. Fatturato and all that.

I didn't say it was getting better, I said we are probably the best team in the PL era based on the records. No other team has done what we've done.
I don't agree with your assertion the sport is more uneven than ever. Taking the PL in isolation, it's probably the most competitive it's ever been. Sure, City walked the league this year, but the next five teams are all within a kick of each other, and the last six seasons have included four different winners. It's much more competitive and entertaining than when it was a three-horse race in the late 2000s between United, Chelsea and, at a stretch, Arsenal. Liverpool were hardly ever in the conversation bar one or two great seasons.
Seems like your frustration is driving your argument, not the facts.
By Zabojnik Go To PostI'm of a slightly different idea. The problem isn't Higuain, it's really our midfield and / or style of playing.I never said he was a "problem" for the team; he doesn't detract except in a final. But he was never necessary for what Juve has achieved in the time he has been there. He might arguably be more effective than what preexisted him, but that isn't enough for Juve to reach the level of a Barça or Madrid - as you yourself have just acknowledged.
Signing Higuain was the right move, we needed a ST upgrade, it's just that we should've also signed an additional technical midfielder.
Whether it was the right move or not depends on what exactly the move was supposed to achieve. If the intention was to make an outsized purchase that wins Juventus their most sorely sought prize, then clearly he wasn't the right move.
And, like I've said, on the level of him as a footballer, he hasn't improved. He hasn't added anything to his performance, and he's putting up far lower numbers than what he achieved under Sarri. But, also as I've said, that doesn't seem to matter to him, so long as he collects the trophies he wasn't needed to win.

I didn't say it was getting better, I said we are probably the bestChrist, you use "better" and "best" in the same (comma-spliced) 'sentence' and still can't seem to conceptually link the two. If you can't do that for yourself by this point in your mental development, then I can't bother wasting my time trying to explain simple semantics and rhetoric.
I don't agree with your assertion the sport is more uneven than ever. Taking the PL in isolationIt's almost like England (and its Welsh bastards) in isolation isn't the entire sport.
the last six seasons have included four different winners.Six is a self-servingly arbitrary boundary for your numbers. Add 8 more seasons, and you still get only four different winners. Remove the one extreme anomaly, and the numbers are even less flattering.
Seems like your frustration is driving your argument, not the facts. My frustration is often with imbeciles who derive facile arguments from the misuse of so-called "facts."
