I hope Karius will never walk alone in a dark alley again. He's gonna get shanked by a half and half scarf.
By etc Go To PostThe balloon has escaped him already though :(Ronaldo didn't do much in the final, if Egypt has a good run there's still a chance.

I'll break my silence here to back up sohois - he's right, Benzema attempts to prevent Karius from distributing the ball as evidenced by him changing direction and sticking his leg out before Karius releases the ball. A lesser-known law of the game, admittedly, but a direct free-kick should have been awarded and a yellow card issued to Benzema for unsportsmanlike conduct. I've seen it given before.
Whether or not it would have changed the outcome, who knows, but I'm surprised how people seem happy to just ignore an obviously incorrect decision.

Good news for you Liverpool.
Napoli are in need of a keeper and they just posted a twitter supporting Karius.

I hope that stuff about Karius not being supported by his teammates is overblown bullshit. You’ve got to get around the lad, especially now.

FA Cup, EL, and 2nd would make a nice debut season.
Can challenge City seriously the season after.
Got to hope that Liverpool have a good player support system in place. Reactions on twitter are brutal.

I've seen forwards pip the ball while a keeper bounces it off the ground. The mugs arguing Benzema's goal isn't valid should retire from spectating this sport.
Tuttosport claiming Pogba wants to go back to Juve.
Don't see it happening unless it is part of a Sandro and Costa swap.

I am pretty sure you can't do that now.

You’ve got to get around the lad, especially now.Im sure Karius will be fine, its not like he is in an Enke situation, it's just a game. Will be tough for him to get over it however, literally the rest of his life - this could be his moment people think back to. For all the people telling him to kill himself or something else ridiculous, there'll be equal amount supporting him.
Liverpool almost definitely would have lost regardless, but losing that way would feel like shit.

I don't know if it was ever an international rule, but I remember in LigaMX there was one season where you could take the ball off the keeper while they were about to distribute. It was a very specific set of circumstances tho: the keeper needed to have his arm stretched out, with his hand flat facing upwards, and the ball resting on top (like when they are about to kick it). Then, the opposing player could only use his head to push the ball away, the ball had to hit the pitch at least once before going in goal. Only then it would be considered a legal goal.
I remember this very clearly because we scored two times in one game doing this. But the ref invalidated both goals and called for a foul instead. This rule was widely discussed and basically we were in disbelief 2 goals (and a win) were taken off us this way, even lodging an official complaint. There was a big media cry out with the refs association putting out a statement validating the rule (they didn't give us the goals of course) and apologizing for it. Then we scored again a couple of matches later and another ref invalidated our goal like he hadn't even heard of the rule. After another public apology from the refs association, the rule was walked back and never spoken about again. I wish I could find record of this, but it was a while ago.
This is why we love football lads.

That’s why I worry for him, he’s a young player and this will hang like a huge weight around his neck until he makes amends and wins a big competition, which will be incredibly hard to achieve given his situation. You see it with English goalkeepers... Hart, Green, Carson, Robinson, all promising keepers who had a horrow show in one game and their careers were never the same. It saps your confidence and belief.
Liverpool most likely still would have lost, but he will forever feel responsible and that’s a horrible burden to live with. Yep, it’s just a game, but so much of his self-worth and being is a centred around his exploits as a keeper, and when people consistently remind you that you failed on the biggest stage, that’s gotta be devastating to your psyche.
Hopefully the right support networks are in place.
