By Frustrated_me Go To PostI don't get it, why is this board so down on Emery? He's a great manager. Finishing behind the likes of Atletico, Barca, Madrid, Valencia and or Villareal to focus on a European title isn't unheard of - hell that's exactly what we were forced to do this year.
Some of the expectations here are creazy, Sevilla were never going to finish above the 3/4 power houses in La Liga, especially when those clubs were on some crazy runs.
Apparently, top four is the only thing that matters to some around here. Plus the usual La Liga hate.
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostApparently, top four is the only thing that matters to some around here. Plus the usual La Liga hate.Go read about what Klopp did at Mainz and Dortmund. I’m sure Penny can explain the scale of the achievement with the latter.
By JesalR Go To PostDid he actually correct it? He did effectively what was table stakes for PSG, having spent more in a single summer than any other manager has, making the two most expensive signings in football.
I don't think it has any real bearing on how he does with Arsenal, because Arsenal aren't PSG. I think he'll need to overturn some number of players at Arsenal, either through signings or youth, though. I don't think he'll be able to implement a large enough change in mentality, I can't remember the ast time that was done without changing a fair number of players.
I think he did do a good job this season. Winning a domestic treble is never easy, just got to look at Pep with Man City this season.
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostNo, but managing the likes of Valencia and Seville compared to that of a club of Dortmund’s status is laughable. You should take a look where Klopp started with Dortmund.
I do agree that in Emery’s very first season at a top club he disappointed, but he corrected it.
The club was almost bankrupt in 2004 and sold nearly every decent player we had. What followed were alot of youth players and shitty positions within the league.
Before Klopp took over, we were 13th within the league.
He rebuild the squad, made players better and we were slowly climbing up until we won the league. While Klopp was manager, we cleared a debt of over 200m € and build a great squad, played some amazing footy.
The club is more than healthy now and without Klopp, we would still be in the middle of the table.
We now live in a universe where a 'managerial correction' is receiving the two most expensive purchases in football history and having your nearest competitor disemboweled through sales.
Fucking hell.
Can't someone just post more United twitter rumors?

I know what he did with Dortmund after their troubles, but we gonna act like Dortmund are on the same level in Germany as Valencia and Seville are in Spain?

For as much as City are huge spenders in the Prem, the distance between their squad and the amount they are able to pay is nowhere near as pronounced as in France (and Scotland)
Nottingham Forest are bigger than Burnley
I don't expect them to finish higher than them in the league pyramid any time soon though.

By GQman2121 Go To PostWhat would Bayern realistically ask for a 30 year old Lewandowski?Uli already said Alaba and Lewa will be staying.
His scoring rate is outstanding but that's obviously been a bit tinted with the quality he was surrounded with and facing.
If he's positioning for a move, it's clearly all about that last big payoff, which makes sense. Things have changed a lot with contracts since he signed that extension a few years ago and he's really, really good. But no one should be entertaining some of the numbers being tossed around for him. €80-100m+? Get the fuck out of here.
Bernat, Thiago and possibly Vidal are allowed to leave if a good offer comes

By inky Go To PostLOL, he's a decent human bean. He didn't even kick up a fuss when he really was a level above our team. He scored 30 in a year for us, which is unusual even for this shit league.Rip in peace inky
We are replacing him with fucking Iturbo m8, pls have some respect. And people say karma doesn't exist… :(

I always said Rodgers would make a great Arsenal manager.

Shanks is arguing that Emery can easily guide Arsenal to the top 4 and even mount a title challenge in his first season. Yet they are the 6th best team, with the 5th largest resources. Nothing in Emery's history remotely suggests he can overachieve the way a Pochettino has, for example, even if he's won a lot more than Poch.
Just looked at 'my on this day' feature on Facebook. Apparently on this day in 2010, I was excited about Gigi Delneri potentially becoming Juve manager.
Whoops, I hope in 2026 I don't look back at the same post about Emery and have the same regrets.

he lost a 1 team league. that takes some doing.
not impressed by him winning it this past year when their only challenger was gutted like a fish and they took their best player.
i think he'll be fine to get arsenal back up to 4th place but thats about it.
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostI know what he did with Dortmund after their troubles, but we gonna act like Dortmund are on the same level in Germany as Valencia and Seville are in Spain? At that time we were FAR below the likes of Sevilla or Valencia.
We spend like 1m in total on the squad. We had 1/3 of our current revenue and that with parts of the debt, that I mentioned above.
It's not like Klopp was a saviour and he deserves all the praise, but he was the biggest factor at the time.
With the alternatives that were willing to take over the 13th in the league, it would have taken alot longer to rebuild the club.
He's certainly not without flaws, but he's easily one of the best managers out there. Knows how to win the fans, press, sponsors. Knows how to motivate a team to win important matches, willing to develop young and talented players and creates a tremendous team spirit.
Finding a coach that got all these points is incredible difficult.
Just look at Tuchel, he was the better coach in terms of tactics, flexibility and some other factors, but he utterly failed as human, to build a teamspirit (instead he choose to split the team).

LOL, I never said we would challenge for the title. I even said the same thing about Allegri. I don't think Allegri would make this team compete with City.
I don't think he needs to overachieve. Wenger under achieved constantly. That is why we are 6th. The players and resources of the club are not the problem.

I know Klopp did a great job at Dortmund, and the recovery is a magnificent story that without him would not have happened. But Dortmund once recovering for that were always going to be in a much stronger position than Emery's sides.
I like Klopp, and I think I have said that several times, I just don't rate him highly compared to other managers.

I would be beyond ecstatic if the Alex Sandro deal actually happens, like more than reasonably so. I remained unconvinced it will, though.

By Unreal Champ Go To PostI wouldn't mind Rabiot at Liverpool. Although I do wonder how well he would do in England considering you know Ligue 1. Also why do the people at Arsenal FanTV think he will be joining Arsenal? I'm quite sure he he didn't really get on with Unai. No, fuck no. You don't want Rabiot. The guy is a diva in a team full of diva players. It's a player no club should be interested in unless desperate.
Alex Sandro will happen and Mou will then freeze him out of the squad halfway through the season. #madman

Most likely will happen. Really bad attitude this season. Looking at his face when he went to get his winners medal I am surprised he did 'Willian' Allegri out of the picture.
