I would be very surprised if Arsenal finished below Liverpool next season.
Think Emery can do some very needed cleanup and defensive coaching, plus the new GK and CDM. Winning the EL would be the cherry on top.
Then maybe we can start thinking of finally getting out of the CL Ro16 again.

So you expect Liverpool to get inexplicably worse over the summer despite keeping our best players and adding in the likes of Naby Keita and Fekir or whoever else we throw on?
Oh right, you think Salah is just a flash in the pan, in his fourth season in a row of upward trajectory.
next year will be interesting, at the very least I expect Liverpool, Arsenal and City all mount a decent title challenge.

I think Keita will do well, don’t think Fekir is all that.
I liked Salah at Roma, I still like Salah. But he will need to show that he can keep this for more than one season. I watched almost all of his Roma games for nearly two seasons, and his consistency was poor. There has never been any doubt about his talent, just if he can keep it up.
I think Klopp is not all that as a manager. I think his sides are too weak defensively and he is not tactically good. Three years as Liverpool manager and I still haven’t seen any massive improvements. Sure you play wonderful football, but when teams sit back and defend Klopp shows little tactical nous to break them down. And don’t say it is always hard to break those types of teams down because that is what top managers are paid to do.
Liverpool might win the CL, but I still think over the course of a season we will be better. If Conte didn’t alienate his players, and Wenger wasn’t such a shit show then Liverpool would have arguably finished sixth.
In other words “if only Klopp wasn’t a good manager, Liverpool wouldn’t be doing so well”

By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostIf you were to pick the two teams I would not want facing each other, then Liverpool and Madrid would be them. If Liverpool win then the Shanks anti-Klopp spin will need to go into mega drive ;p. If Madrid win then we will have to listen to Ronaldo go on about how he is the greatest. Plus, this has been arguably the worst performing RM side of recent years and they are still in another final. Just ain't fair lolAnd here I am watching some video highlights of Liverpool's pressing and counter attacks. Shit is insane.
I don't know if we'll make it, however, I hope we put up a good fight.
One thing I'm hoping we do well is handle the press well early on, which if the Juve/Bayern games were any indication we don't seem to be able to. Conceded in the 2nd and 3rd minute respectively against those teams as they were pressing high and fast. Personally I feel like if Modric, Kroos and Casemiro handle the press it's game on for us, if not we're screwed.
We must be patient. We must suffer. It's the Zidane way.
Is Salah and Mane fasting for Ramadan during the game?

Gotta wait for the transfer window but i think we have a decent shot at top 4 next season already.
Really excited with Emery.
salah's iftar will consist of a couple of dates, an energy drink, and scoring the winning goal in the champions league.
what a way to break fast.

Arsenal’s squad is way off being close to the top four and Emery is two bad results away from a club-wide prolapse.
I can see Arsenal somehow crawling to a top-four spot but it will largely depend on other top clubs fucking up and Arsenal players not having their usual mental breakdown at the slightest hint of adversity.
The only chance we have of finishing above Liverpool is if they completely implode next season. They already have a good squad and they're bringing in players that will strengthen them.
I think there's a decent chance of competing for the top four next season but it depends on how quickly Emery can get this team in shape, who we sign over the summer and what Chelsea and Spurs do to improve their squads.
I still think the best chance we have of getting CL football is to win the EL.

My take is Emery is a gr8 coach and Arsenal will make top 4. But so will Liverpool.

Bruce said: “I genuinely hope he [Terry] triggers it. All those phone calls to him last summer, he hasn’t been disappointed with it. From the training ground, to the stadium, to the support, it has all the makings of a big club.Watch Villa now get beat in the playoffs.
“He has been one of the great defenders of our country. He is a great leader of men, which we don’t produce many of any more. In a quiet way, he is not a ranter and a raver, he is not one who puts heads through doors. He hasn’t exceeded expectations, I just knew what he would give.
“I’m sure he will give it a good go if we get promoted and enjoy the challenge of it. We’ll not pick him against Chelsea if that’s he wants.”
Any team that is largely reliant on one player to get them out of the shit could easily fuck it next season, which puts Spurs, United, Liverpool and Chelsea in a slightly ominous position. Arsenal just aren't good, however.

WTF talk about total disrespect for a person's religion.
By Arnie Go To PostSuch a bizarre thing to say.
This team had an amazing home recond, second best in the country. It is only because of an absolutely historically bad period of away games that we did not secure top four. All the problems that away from home were down to wenger’s poor tactical flexibility and set up.
We had eleven losses away from home. We currently only need to turn four of those into wins to be fighting for the top four.
I don’t know if we will be as food at home as we were this season, but there is no way we will be as bad away from home.
I think we have a better manager than Liverpool now and that Klopp, just isn’t good enough in the league. Liverpool don’t do well against teams that defend and I think that reflects poorly on Klopp. After all that is his job. To beat all types of teams, not just the other top teams that tend to play more attacking football.
I don’t just think we will finish above Liverpool, but I think we will finish second. Jose is gonna have a squad that hates his guts, Chelsea is either gonna have Sarri or Enrique, and Spurs have a manager who won’t ever win anything because he is mentally weak.
Arsenal need a bit more depth, but our squad is completely fine to be competing with the current teams in 2nd-5th, because none of them are that amazing. I envy Liverpool with Keita, but that is about it.

I don't think Arsenal's gonna make top 4.
I've explained this before, but Arsenals home/away record is just random noise and you can't expect to just win a few away games and suddenly improve.
Stats wise, Arsenal are not bad by any means, only a short way off fourth in an expG table and ranked as 4th best by 538s model. Their EuroClubIndex ranking isn't bad either.
However, it's hard to see them doing enough next season when the teams around them will spend so much more.

I think we can make top 4 next season, but it will obviously be extremely tough. Maybe Emery can get us over that psychological hurdle in European games, really excited to see what he can do with the team.

I do think Arsenal can get back into the top 4 next year but they’ll have the hardest road back in of all the top 6. It’ll be guaranteed to be really tight between Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs fighting over those two spots like we did this year.
Emery has Aubameyang and Ramsey but beyond that it’s a squad in desperate need of revitalizing.
Bro your new manager isn’t even as good as your old manager, who isn’t as good as Klopp. You aren’t finishing second.

I'm reasonably excited.
It is such a pain that Pogba and Sanchez both thrive in pretty much the exact same attacking area on the pitch. Pogba left to dominate that left hand inside wing position with Sandro making the overlap for Juve was a joy to see.
Can’t say I am too happy about only selling him for 45 million, but then Yurt would say that is the Juve way. When a player wants to leave the club won’t block his exit.
I don't think Sanchez and Pogba essentially occupying the same attacking area of the pitch is ever going to work, tbqh.
Our record against big teams in the league this season has been poor. It's the results against teams that just defend that allowed us to finish fourth, polar opposite of how things turned out in 16/17.
It's so presumptive to assume that arsenal's home record will be just as good next season, and the away record will improve that this isn't a debate worth having.
It's so presumptive to assume that arsenal's home record will be just as good next season, and the away record will improve that this isn't a debate worth having.
This is the time of season where everyone is being highly presumptive (and optimistic) though. Such as Liverpool fans assuming they can rely on Salah and co maintaining heir scoring rates, or United fans assuming DDG will maintain his form etc and so on. Everyone thinks all the good stuff they did last season will continue and the team just needs to improve on the bits they didn't do so well. Every team will have new problems next season.
The issue with this debate is that there is six teams that need to get top 4 to not be written off as failures. Every year, two teams will be regarded as having done fucced up. Even if there is a point or two between 3rd and 6th or whatever, optics dictate that two of these clubs are probably going to change manager every year because of how important the CL is.
No way we don’t get Euro Super League soon.

My reason for bringing it up is because the narative is that we are a million miles away from the top four. When I don’t see that to be the case. We have a good, but not great squad just like all the other teams. Where we are lacking has been the tactical ability of the manager and work on the training ground. All areas I expect Emery to improve the team.
Odd and many others think Emery is a bum, completely forgetting the amazing work he did at a cash stripped Valencia. I think they were consistently third behind the big two during his time there. The guy brings more winner’s medals to the PL than anyone other than Carlo, Pep, and Jose.
I just feel like you're not really bringing the quality of your players into this equation. Emery is fine for the most part. However, a lot of your players don't make the grade, and the assumption seems to be that Emery will breathe life into them and they'll become top players. But the fact is they are nearly all stagnated as fuck and many were never good enough in the first place. You've got a few of genuine quality that I'd build a team around (Auba, Ozil and if I'm being kind, Mkhi) and the rest fall into the categories of past it, not good enough or so stagnant that he needs to leave the club.
I'm getting nervous now, 2 days to go until the match. I'll be at Anfield for it but I think I'll have my eyes closed for the whole thing until the final whistle is blown.
