By batong Go To PostAt least you'll dominate the EL with him.
I would take him, not my ideal choice, but a very good coach.
Not that I doubt Arteta is a good coach, but would arsenal be going for him if he hadn’t played for them? Smacks of sentimentality more than anything.
Of course he’s clearly got a good reputation from working under Pep, but it’s a big risk when you live and die on top 4 qualification when 6 teams expect it.
Bundesliga seem to have no issue going for young coaches - Schalke, Leverkusen, Hoffenheim etc - but is the pressure on them less because Bayern are always expected to win?

I just spent a stupid amount of money on FA Cup Final tickets and i've never seen Chelsea win at Wembley, enjoy the cup United :(

I don’t know our ex-Barca guy that well, but I feel like if two of the top names for Wenger’s replacement have a City history(Vieira being the other) then maybe he has good dealing with City’s Barca guys and they have recommended the two as good candidates.
But fuck me, I didn’t realise he is only 36. I thought he was 39.

Schalke went with an interesting one, Neverkusen as well (even though he's a former player and knows the club), Hoffenheim nearly always went for solutions that came from within the club (the others didn't work out). Dortmund would have done the same once they got rid of Bosz, but our U23 coach went to Norwich during the summer, and we didn't want to burn the new one right away.
Overall we've seen alot of young or inexperienced coaches delievering alot of good results.
By Dan Go To PostApparently when Joe Hart got the call from Southgate his wife threw his phone to him but it slipped through his fingers and went inside his near post.
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostBut fuck me, I didn’t realise he is only 36. I thought he was 39.That's six years older than the last head man Kroenke appointed to manage one of his clubs.
I wouldn't be concerned with what Arteta brings to game management or dealing with players. It's everything else that Wenger handled behind the scenes that he's going to initially struggle with. And that could honestly be a good thing. It might allow more people to get involved and take a load off, which may have been something Wenger wasn't able to do because he was so ingrained into the system for so many years as the club expanded. It was pretty clear by the end that he was stretched thin. This could be a good thing.
Is Xabi Alonso in a job at the moment?
Can’t help but think there are some openings at City and Liverpool that would be ideal for someone at the stage of the career he is at right now.
Also, just played the Detroit demo. Surprisingly pretty good.

Penny please comment on this lad if you know him.
I was thinking about Alonso when they were talking about Arteta on Football Weekly
Alonso has always seemed like a top class manager in waiting somehow, he just exudes it. Surprised he's not popped up as a coach somewhere yet, would very much like it to be with us if it happens. The kind of guy you want at your club in any capacity really.

By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostPenny please comment on this lad if you know him.Really talented lad, but I think it's to early for him to go to a big club yet. He got the right body as a defender, is fast enough and knows how to tackle and position himself. I haven't watched Freiburg enough to judge his creation and his long balls.
The problem he still has, is the lack of concentration at times. Every once in a while you got the feeling that his focus isn't 100% there and that often results in a dumb foul. In general he collects quite a few cards.
So that's something that needs to be worked on, but nothing really substantial and he's still incredible young.
Another point is the language barrier that might need some work, when he arrived in Germany he could only speak Turkish as far as I remember.

Cheers. So a work in progress still, not exactly what we need right now if Arteta gets the job. Especially as we already need half the squad to improve their concentration.

Proven defender, both in the league and CL. Rather cheap and everything.
With a new keeper, these two might make a pretty good couple.
Götze is left at home, while Neuer who didn't make a game for ages will get his nomination.

Sokratis sounds good from what I have read. I don't really remember his team in Italy plus he was really young.
I am not willing to give up on Mustafi yet. Having 4-5 defenders is key to a good side, so would be nice to see them both arrive.
By Feorax Go To PostEmre Can not in Germany’s World Cup squad. Not surprised, Germany is stacked.
By Laboured Go To PostCan will be fine. He just needs to wait for Reus to get his customary injury. They would get another winger or Götze in.

A new coach could also lead to a different situation, not that I'm a big fan of him, but alot of players should have the chance to prove themselves again.
CL kit. The best one yet.

Bin him
More time to train with Arteta
By recon_zero Go To Postbottling that Barcelona lead is not a good look. They hate him in Sevilla as well
Emery?
I am sure Sevilla does have some RM fans in the town, so they would hate him
By Oddinho Go To PostI tend to be optimistic toward signings that feel clever but I dunno about Arteta. If he is the new Arsenal manager I think he won’t be for very long. It’s a poison chalice, like the one Ferguson handed down at Utd. As much as everyone hated Van Gaal’s football, a manager of his type helps the transition, and Arteta is too green.
Odd you keeping saying this but the situations aren't remotely similar at all.
- man utd had just won the epl
- Fergie was getting a poor team to overpeform we are performing probably at our level
-Fergies power hadn't really been diluted yet, ours has we've changed our entire football model, many many backroom changes have been made
-expectations, arsenal fans have zero
By Perfect Blue Go To PostWhy isn't Jonas Hector at a bigger club?We tried to sign him last summer (or was it the summer before? I can't remember.) Think he ended up signing a new contract.

Dortmund wanted to sign him, once Cologne got relegated. They were quite far ahead, but he decided to go into the 2nd league to get them back into the first.

Sevilla fans hate RM for some reason. Shame, as we have been brother clubs for so long

Honestly wonder if we're only getting Arteta because he bought Gazidis an expensive watch before he left.
