What a way to finish the season. Hugs all round blues. Incredible season. Not sure we’ll see anything like it again as a City fan!
Was a phenomenal ride. Now onto the WC!
(Imagine being a City fan and then having to support Australia in the WC. We’ll be lucky to score. We’re gonna get fucking battered.)

By Arnie Go To PostAbsolutely. The general strength of EPL clubs is paper-thin. Embarrassing, really. Makes the strength of something like Bayern so impressive because the general strength of Germany but be quite good if CL teams are hitting 55 points.Leverkusen can play incredible footy, but they're also still incredible young and shacky. They got no depth and lost alot of steam towards the end of the season.
I saw Leverkusen a few weeks back and was certain they’d piss almost everyone outside of the top four.
In general I already said it a couple of times here, this season has been absolutely abysmal nearly everywhere.
Usually CL spots are around 60+ points and to avoid relegation you need about 40+ points.
Alot of shitty decisions overall.
Dortmund appointed the wrong coach and made mistakes on the transfer market, plus the aftermath of the attack on the team.
Leipzig played their first CL games and from my experience those teams always drop points as they have to get used to it.
Hoffenheim lost 3 crucial players to Bayern and hardly replaced them.
Neverkusen is slowly getting better after their horrible performance last year, but they still need more consistency.
Gladbach got a shitty coach and made some bad transfers.
If you've seen how badly Schalke plays and still managed to secure the second spot, it tells you quite a bit about the situation.
Anyway alot of news piled up.
Favre is pretty much done. 2 year contract with an option for another.
Sokratis, Guerreiro, Castro, Sahin and Schürrle will be let go, if we recieve an offer.
Sokratis got offers from clubs in Italy and England, but it looks like Arsenal got the best chances. He will be rather cheap for proven player with 20m €.
By Pele.gif Go To PostHopefully Sokratis won't turn out to be a Mustafi mark III'm sure you like him.
He's known for great tackles and having the right mentality, allthough he doesn't seem to be a leader off the pitch.
Just don't expect any form of quality with his long balls or creation of great attacks.
He's a great defender who had a rather shitty year, but he's not the type of player that is able to deliever a fine ball.
I don’t think it will happen but if we do end up appointing Arteta it will be a disaster imo. A huge risk considering he has no managerial experience whatsoever. Sure, he’s been working with the best manager in the country for 2 years, but Arsenal need a winner and Allegri is the type to take the club forward. Vieira and Arteta just seem like fanfic dreams :lol

What reasons do you reckon it would be a disaster? I'm thoroughly ignorant on arteta

Zidane.
Some Castilla experience as well as working alongside Ancelotti. That's about it. He took over after a disastrous Rafa Benitez appointing, nobody expected any of this to happen.
Who knows with Arteta?
By Arnie Go To PostI haven’t done the maths on number of teams but it feels far tougher to qualify in the CL in England as opposed to other countries. In Germany (less teams) they qualify with around 55-60. Italy seems to be around mid 60s (still one week to go). In England you’re needing mid 70s to get there.
Is this just me being a bit #brexit?
Pls go look at the Serie A table lol

By Frustrated_me Go To PostZidane.Thing is that for Real you already have the talent, and you just needed someone who the players respected enough to fight for, and who better than a living legend than Zidane. Plus Real Madrid is structured to allow manager changes.

Arsenal has a lot of rubbish that needs proper development, a manager that has to more or less reteach tactics to most of our players, and a system that has not seen a manager change since 1996.

Every player we got from Dortmund so far has been good so i'm hopeful he will also be good :)
Arteta is exactly the type of manager we dont need atm.
The club is a mess, we have deep problems tactically and mentally. We need an experienced manager. Anyone with a brain can realize that. Hopefully our board will make the right decision.
But, if we do sign him, i'll give him time. At least 2 seasons.

By Facism Go To PostCrossing fingers you get the right man, peleinhoI disagree. For all the shit that has been slung at Wenger, I hope they get Pardew. Give the fans some humility.

By Pele.gif Go To PostArteta is exactly the type of manager we dont need atm.We have a great attacking force at the moment and need someone who can utilize it while also able to organize a damn defense. Arteta didnt step up when Pepinho was sent to the stands. We need someone with grinta.

So after Newcastle once again punched far above their weight and knocked Chelsea on their asses, surely you guys have to take notice of the significance of Rafa’s work there.
When he went to Chelsea and Real the fans didn’t want him and the players of both teams didn’t give his methods a fair shake. Now you’re seeing what happens when the team actually gets behind him. Newcastle play with the determination and confidence that only comes when you fully trust your manager. Their squad is easily in the worst three in the league, yet they finish 10th.
I’m glad he found a club where the fans and the players appreciate what he brings. The problem will be if the powers-that-be don’t show the same appreciation. I’d like to see Newcastle still around long enough to see Sunderland claw their way back into the PL. There aren’t many juicy derbies these days.

I think Rafa's days at the very top are done. He hasn't got it in him to stroke the required egoes, and focusses on the back of the team and positional discipline first and can't help but criticise the board. Needed doing with us and Newcastle, but still.
I'm just happy that he's somewhere he's loved, probably my favourite person in football.

The difference between Pep, Zidane and Arterta is that 2 got great players to manage, while the other could get Arsenal.
It will be fine if the EL qualification is the minimum for them next season.

I don't understand how managers like Moyes keep receiving job offers in the prem. Are clubs all in on the closely guarded secret that managers don't matter?
By Baconsaurus Go To PostI don't understand how managers like Moyes keep receiving job offers in the prem. Are clubs all in on the closely guarded secret that managers don't matter?Of the ~15years Moyes has had in the Prem, he's had 10 very good years at Everton, a flop at United, a disaster at Sunderland and now a solid recovery at West Ham. It's really not a bad managerial record at all. Pardew is the great deceiver.

He did great at Everton and did fairly decent at West Ham as well, at least considering how they were doing before him. Kind of makes sense for clubs like that, to at least keep offering him jobs, even if he is a hilariously tragic figure.
