Avatars are missing because we just imported the database, not the file server. This is unfortunately still the same crappy software, and the other components (server and, particularly, database) aren't as beastly as they will be, but this should be an improvement inasmuch as it shouldn't go down when someone breathes on it.

Cookies should now be fixed. The cookie root was set incorrectly. Note that for whatever reason this doesn't seem to be an issue for the new forums (at least, I don't recall having to explicitly set anything like that), so I'm guessing it's a phpBB-ism.

Redirected over here as soon as it's back up, because we can't access it right now.

A few other issues (namely: new user registration wasn't working and the base URL was still set to the old site's) have been resolved. Old posts have incorrectly cached bbcode pointing to the old site, but I am pretty sure that is another phpBBism and would be nontrivial to impossible to fix.
