I hear Joe Hart is going cheap.
Reading back through the thread now. Ran my first 10k yesterday, City won (start of the 2nd half was genuinely the worst I’ve seen us plays in years, I was furious), Utd bottled it, spent a few hours doing the Pokémon Go Community Day today. What a weekend.

Watching the Leicester city winning season and man did Vardy score some bangers, he was such an explosive player that season. No team really had an answer to the "hoof it to Vardy" strategy.

City have now entered the Champions League or failure part of the takeover process. Anything less from here on out is not good enough no matter what anyone says. They have to win the CL at least once before Pep departs - so within the next three years max.

so failure then.
City will win the UCL in 10 years when they have a DiMateo moment against Bayern. Bayern always bottle it in finals.

By Vivalapizza Go To PostWe created one clear chance against the bottom team in the league.Sums up my thoughts. Mou relies on individual talent to create chances with the condition that those talents retain their defensive shape and do not neglect their defensive duty. It's almost the exact opposite of Van Gaal who did not let players have any freedom.
And there are probably still people who think it's an issue with the players rather than the inability of the manager to coach any kind of attacking play.
At least one more year of this crap, dear me :(
You can't keep blaming the players when this type of attacking display is the norm the last 2 seasons. There is nothing wrong with being a counter attacking team, just get the attack to look like they have any chemistry. It doesn't take 2 years to achieve that. Why would an extra year all of a sudden change that?
Also, if you think spending more money will solve that issue, think about those players you're blaming. How many of those are Mourinho bought players? If you complain about Pogba, Sanchez, Lindelof, etc... why would you expect those same Mou signings to make things better?
You guys are second in the league, you’ve won some big games and had some big scorelines. I don’t understand why Mourinho has to stir shit, create rifts between himself and players, and constantly upset those around him. You’d think the club is in crisis with the way he talks about his own team, but nope, he just isn’t satisfied when there’s peace and everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet.

I think we've rode our luck quite a bit and are very fortunate that Arsenal and Chelsea have had a terrible go of things. All we have left is the FA Cup, and I wouldn't bet on us against Spurs at Wemberley.

Meh. It's the hardest thing in the world to win a CL and it gets harder every year. I know he'll be judged by the haters no matter what he does (despite constructing a season of beautiful, almost impeccable football, people still deride him), so I really don't think it's a surprise. I think we'll be good enough to do it next season, and will be disappointed if we don't, but we have no right to it.
I'd be more worried about your tin-pot club which has spent about the some money as us and is so irrelevant this year it's almost comical. Goes to show that you can spend all the money in the world, but if you have shit culture and idiots in charge, you'll quickly be 30 points off the leader and almost doing as bad as Arsenal. And, unlike Chelsea, our owners have built a sustainable model for City and its worldwide brand that will ensure the club's relevance for decades to come. The takeover was a stunning, stunning success for our club, our owners and the fans. The biggest losers (United, Chelsea, Liverpool) are the ones that whinge most, and it's incredibly satisfying. Don't be bitter, do better.

And the reason they were critical of those tactics were due to their time with the Spanish team where they were proving that they could play that kind of football. Eventually he clashed with Iker (who was that Spanish representative) for that reason, and also because he was being a shit goalkeeper. Ronaldo was on Mou's side and eventually got tired of the negative football too.

However, I find it hard to make a final judgement on players that have only been here for 3-4 years when they've only been playing under shit attacking football. Something to think about is how those very same players would look under a Klopp, Tuchel, or Jardim.

And 2nd place to me is meaningless when we outspend so many clubs. It's not like we challenged for the title like how Fergie lost in 2010 and 2012. We didn't mount a title challenge on the level of 2011 Arsenal who hung until January. 2nd place means nothing. Just look at the Wengy boys who got 2nd just 2 years ago.
I don't disagree especially when considering how much spent, and while second place is far from guaranteed, its not any way secure.
My assessment of Mou is nearly complete, all I wish is to see what his team looks like with actual fullbacks and a solid midfield.
I don't think he can win this United side the league, a few cups here and there, but he can't seem to Coach a cohesive attacking unit, not one that can play well for more than 45 minutes.
I hope that players like Martial and Pogba can wait him out.

I think when we look at the results and placement, we have to also look at the past for more perspective.
A lot of United fans want Mou out. I want him out because while I love pragmatic managers, the way he makes us play is boring, and how he loves his players too much to make important changes. I dont ever see him buying a RW for United when it's clear to everyone we desperately need the width up top.
but we have made more strides in a year than the last 4. Granted, we have spent 300 million this year, but it's also important to remember the recent inflation on the cost of players to take in account. Lukaku costs 75m pounds, almost the same with Pogba when the other was even more highly regarded. Not to mention some disastrous transfer seasons pre Mou with us buying Depay, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteinger, Di Maria, and Falcao (loan) who has since left the club. Not to mention Darmian, Blind and Fellaini is on their way out. That left us with only Mata, Rojo as the transfers that worked out.
Special mention to Rooney where we had to deal with him being our key player when it was obvious he was past it and tried to fit him anywhere we could with dire results.
United has also managed 71 points with 5 games remaining and barring anymore shit results (which unfortunately could happen) at a time where it was regarded to be the most competitive EPL race in years.
Also Arsenal finished 2nd in a year where every other top team stumbled. Leicester managed to get 81 points where in the past 10 years they would only get 2nd barring one season in 2010/11. I think I've read many posts by Arsenal fans that it seems like they handed the title to Leicester that year by being shit when it should have counted.

And that City celebration video, with old fellas drinking water and a stamp your feet if you’re happy song is so quintessentially City it hurts. It is everything that strikes a rotten chord with non-City fans, and is exactly why The Pig has become such a symbol of ridicule.
Dan and Meier and Mang are quality lads, and Pep is brilliant, and fucking hell there’s tons of City players I’d want, but that club is a distorted mess. The “celebrations” yesterday or the fact the fans booed the Champions League anthem is so at odds with what football should be.

I think it’s important to get 2nd for United’s recruitment if nothing else. If United do fall behind us (or Spurs), your then go into the summer as legitimately the 3rd best team in the league at best.
At least in 2nd you can make an argument to any potential signings that City’s season was an outlier and Utd are positioned perfectly to have a strong challenge for the title next year. That’s a much harder sell if you’re behind 2 teams, potentially 2 teams that have spent much less and performed much better on the European stage.

I really don’t think any players will care about that. As always it will come down to the money.
What might make United seem less attractive is Liverpool winning the CL, not the league placing within the top 4.
I think Liverpool is already more attractive than United for young players who want to make a name for themselves. Money is obviously a big factor in the decision, and Liverpool can’t match United there. But players will definitely be looking not just at the style of football but also the atmosphere in the club, and how the manager treats his players.
Jose's here for another year at most, any young players will wait him out.
The visibility at United is immense, if the lad take their chances.
Imagine the follows on insta.

Not like Liverpool, Untied, Spurs are going to be going for the same players anyway. United don't need second to compete with League rivals, they need it to compete with the Madrids, PSGs and Bayerns. They've already seen Griezmann fall through to one of these

Prestige plays a big part and on that front United are still very attractive. It's not the right mindset to have but that seems to be the one that a lot of younger players have.
A player like Sessegnon should stay where he is format least another 3 seasons. That'll never ever happen but it would be the most sensible decision.
Idk who I even want us to sign. All I know is that if we don't sign a RW then a lot more people are going in the incinerator than previously envisaged.
It is funny seeing all hate Pogba is getting.
People saying he is not committed to United, but that says a lot to me about what is going on in the locker room. I don’t ever remember feeling Pogba didn't give it his all on the pitch.
None of this shit started until the beginning of this year. Now people are calling him out for his haircuts and social media.
If there is any problem with the lad thwn it is on Jose. Playing him out of position and throwing him under the bus.
Pogba needs a manager who isn’t a grumpy old has been.

Why does Sessegnon need at least another three years at Fulham when he could come to Tottenham and play from day one?
That’s like saying Rooney needed at least 3 more years at Everton. Or Alli needed at least 3 more years at MK Dons. Completely unnecessary just because other worse players have failed to make the step up.

I wouldn't say Pogba was halfhearted last night. You don't attempt a stupid handball if you're half hearted. I think it was another case of him trying too hard to prove his worth... Again.
It's a mentality problem that I was hoping doesn't happen again this season, but it still did. Boy needs to grow up in that regard, and I think he will, in United or in another club.

I just couldn't quite believe how stupid it looks having three players playing on the left who all like to cut in on their right and don't even know what a byline is, all while there is literally one person standing on the right wing who is a 32 year old fullback. It is monstrously stupid.
