Just a bunch of people trying to build up their GamerCred, either that or they watched a “what’s Shenmue” video on YouTube after the Kickstarter was announced at E3
Remind me never to pre order a game for Steam ever again. Unpacking the download is taking longer than the actual download.
That’s too accurate.
I had a Dreamcast when I was kid, had about 6 games for it and only ever played Sonic Adventures. I enjoyed it back then, but that game is trash to play now.
I’d never even heard of Shenmue till I saw someone fawning over it on one the early 2000’s gaming shows.

DC as hardware was pretty damn amazing. The first proper online gaming on a console and my first introduction to MMOs, KB/M controls for games like Quake 3, alot of fantastic pieces of hardware peripherals (lightguns, the microphone for seaman, the maracas for Samba de Amigo, the fishing rod and so on).
It's not like the console had the best lineup in history, but it was pretty damn good and for people who had minimal exposures with arcades before, it was even better.
Shenmue was outstanding back in the day, because you never had a mixture of genres being blended together so damn well on a console. The game had alot of standards that are the norm today, but they weren't back in the day. People tend to forget that..
I still play it from time to time and still enjoy it as much as I did back then.
I had a DC and Shenmue when it came out. It was overrated then and proceeded to age like a steak in the hot sun.

a steak was good once. lets say aged like macaulay culkin instead.
Dreamcast was awesome because it graced us with Jet Set Radio, Skies of Arcadia, and Soul Caliber. God I spent way to much time in SC's mission mode unlocking art.
Origins is overstaying it's welcome. I really enjoy it, but this shit is stretched out Shonen style and I'm ready to move onto another game
Ready 2 Rumble Boxing was such an amazing launch showing, and an amazing launch game overall.
Dreamcast was just an amazing console, bar none. I can't believe how ahead of its time it was.
Really puts into perspective how lucky PS2 got with a DVD player and The Matrix, and how a generation later the PS3 basically Saturn'd itself.

My post wasn’t meant to shit on the DC, more that people pretend to love all these games they never played.

i don't think that's true. i mean there's still 10 million DCs out there sold to mostly hc fans so i'm not surprised many people in forums remember it fondly. Also Shenmue came out on Xbox too.

By RobNBanks Go To PostWe all know how much Xbox gamers love their Japanese gamesScaleBound coming soon
By Smokey Go To PostThat shit happens on the regular. Great when they cause enough distraction for you to get a breather and heal up. Sucks when one of them finishes off a weakened monster you were intending to capture. They also fight for way too long making it dangerous to engage either of them so you need to keep some dung on you to fling at the one you want to go away so you can finish off the other in peace.

kingdom come getting pasted by reviews but steam opinion is more friendly. then again, most steam people probably want a white ethnostate and so even if the game's trash they'd support it.

Played some of it this morning, seems about as janky as Skyrim or Fallout 3. Optimisation is terrible, like really awful. Worse than I anticipated.
The core gameplay seems completely sound though, as far as sandbox RPGs go. It’s a big step up from the melee combat of TES/Fallout.

Are you visigoths really in here questioning the Dreamcast's bonafides? SMDH go play GTA some more with the plebs.
All Sega games! Dreamcast would have been undisputed GOAT if Peter Moore AKA history's greatest monster had let it live a couple years more.
OG Xbox was hands down my favourite MS system though. J.Allard knew what he was doing, they should have let that guy keep the keys in perpetuity instead of handing them over to a stream of corporate cyborgs.

Even just the aesthetics of the Dreamcast hardware were just so fine. From the dimensions to the logo to the colors of its chassis and packaging, I loved that console.

Vividly remember the first time I was with a group of friends in highschool and we played NFL and NBA 2k on Dreamcast. It was just before Thanksgiving. We were looking at each other like, What. The. Fuck.
Live died that day for a group of fifteen year olds. And it's been dead ever since.

I'm interested in that rumoured spyro remake. Not because the games are better than Crash, they're both trash, but because i have some nostalgia for them.

I remember walking into a Hollywood Video, seeing Sonic Adventure running on a real Dreamcast and thinking I was living in the future.
