"Omg the poors are eating shrimp! They're taking advantage of MY tax dollars."
It's an aquatic roach. Who gives a fuck. Not to mention that they are paying taxes as well. The purchase rules are already arbitrary as hell, in spots, as is.
Exactly.

Just more shiiting on the poor for not sticking to grains only. Live the class warfare bullshit. Care that some people dare enjoy cigs, whiskey, soda, steak, whatever in their stressful existences. Meanwhile we let assholes write off their luxury jets. Id rather pay for someones fucking whiskey than fuel up some douches luxury jet that he can well afford to gas up himself.
By Smoke Dogg Go To PostI used to work in a grocery store… truly a shitty weekend job… but I learned something.Ok Ronald Reagan....
I learned that a lot of these people with EBTs are out here driving Escalades.
"Fighting to survive" … quite a few of them just redirected their own personal wealth, what they didn't have to spend on food.
But anyway, I'm not trying to argue. I'm not trying to take the discussion into the direction of tangents. All I'm saying is there are definitely some peeps who deserve the food stamps more than others, because the system is definitely abused, I've seen it myself.
By DY_nasty Go To PostHe ain't lying lolIt is a strange quantifier...That has little bearings on anything.
Not saying that's the norm tho
To be honest the biggest food stamp cheats are FLDS folks. All those "single moms." I'm glad the kids can eat but it allows the dudes to basically skirt supporting their families and harbor wealth.

The ability to look at something and say "how that person on benefits" is dumb. You can find designer duds at Goodwill, you can get a top of the line phone off Craigslist, etc etc. Also I used to save up for some things with just better quality to 'em precisely because they last longer. Still do really.

I hate when people are so simple that the only rational response you can give them is mind your own fucking business.

You can't expect people to NOT see that type of thing, argue around it by slapping with the 'anecdotal!' sticker on it, then moving forward like it never happens. It doesn't need to occur at least X% of the time to be real. Everyone can think of something they witnessed that's fucked up that occurs within a system that they wholeheartedly support. Not talking about it at all is dismissive long before it becomes counter-intuitive.
By DY_nasty Go To PostMan just said he saw it lol.But stating it like they got a caddy while on welfare as a fact is the problem... people might had had a life before that

I KNOW it does happen. I know first hand it does. I won't condemned someone for having an iPhone when they are on welfare unless I know they aren't doing shit to better themselves
The problem with those anecdotal evidence cases is that it's used to paint a wholesale brush to condemn those that do use it legitimately as well. It takes on a life of its own within the "one bad apple" mantra and its used as justification to cut those programs all together. A few people are scamming, therefore it's not necessary and abused, right?

Same mentality regarding drug testing SNAP recipients. Fools would rather spend more money stopping those few than just giving them food.

Maybe this is splitting hairs here, but there are just different ways to looks at an economy and judge success. Unemployment is absolutely a metric used to judge health though. It's the reason the feds will raise interest rates while we're pumping more money into the economy and heating it more. I stated this on the other page, but U6 is actually better than pre 2008 now.
That being said, GROWTH is treated like it's some economic panacea and it's really not. The social progress index tracks other indicators of a societies progress such as freedoms and happiness etc.
https://www.ted.com/talks/michael_green_what_the_social_progress_index_can_reveal_about_your_country
Basically GDP increases match the social progress index increases to a point and then has diminishing returns as a countries economy grows in size. Basically, the US should currently be considering policy that increases its social progress index at the cost of some GDP.

Well, tbh w u, I've come to realize something.
Democrats only get elected when everybody is willing to admit that their Republican predecessors really screwed the pooch on matters like economy and failing to secure swift victories when at war, etc. Even the racists needed some of Obama's hope.
That's why Bernie should've waited, if indeed he really wanted to move the nation forward with the highest chance of success.
If I could've seen Trump coming, then knowing what I know now, I'd have donated to his campaign my damn self, as I'd be making a Faustian bargain of ensuring the election of the next great "Hope" and "Change" President to do absolutely jack shit about public option universal healthcare.
For now, we bide our time, and vote as we normally and authentically would in local elections.

NEW YORK (AP) — Stormy Daniels, the pornography star whom President Donald Trump’s personal attorney acknowledged paying $130,000 just before Election Day, believes she is now free to discuss her alleged sexual encounter with Trump, her manager told The Associated Press Wednesday.
Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, believes that Trump attorney Michael Cohen invalidated a non-disclosure agreement after two news stories were published Tuesday: One, in which Cohen told The New York Times that he made the six-figure payment with his personal funds, and another in the Daily Beast, which reported that Cohen was shopping a book proposal that would touch on Daniels’ story, said the manager, Gina Rodriguez.
“Everything is off now, and Stormy is going to tell her story,” Rodriguez said.
