Bittersweet. The senate losses have fucked up that part of congress even if a Dem gets voted in to the WH in 2020. Any Trump Supreme Court nominee can get through without an issue.
But Winning the house is important and I don't think it should be understated. The House is responsible for a lot of the investigation committees, as well issue subpeonas. With full control of the Congress, Trump already had massive issues getting anything done in the legislative sense. Without the House, its going to be even more difficult. Its not a blue wave, but at least there are more tools at our disposal.

I know it feels shitty right now, but speaking as someone who lived in VA since 2012, I never thought I'd see a day when a statewide race in VA would be called literally minutes after the polls closed. I'm confident we'll get there with GA and TX.

i'm not sure what should be gained in all this other than it shouldn't be this hard or surprising to meet the lowest of expectations
That last thing I would want of a Democratic House is to go with impeachment proceedings even if the Mueller investigations come up with the most seedy of stuff. The Supreme Court and Senate are overwhelmingly stacked against us. Best strat would be to introduce bills that are popular with the general population (expansion of health care, reduction of taxes for middle class, student loan protections, etc) and if the Republicans/Trump vote against it, then frame the 2020 campaign within that scope. There is also the potential between here and 2020 where the economy is not booming as it is now. This election proved that Trump, as disgusting and as racist as he is, will not change the mind of his base specially if the economy is doing alright.
