in what context exactly?
Like culturally and language wise, I'd suppose.
But I was wondering if the parallels go deeper, too, like maybe Ukrainians are also more reasonable people than their counterparts, as well? More socially liberal yet somehow more economically dependent on the other, ironically?
Idk, just spitballing here.

i wouldn't get on too high of a horse considering how first nations people are treated and that whole Highway of Tears shit.
By Random Ass Username Go To Posti wouldn't get on too high of a horse considering how first nations people are treated and that whole Highway of Tears shit. There is no high horse. The only people who ever try to associate Canada with America are Americans. The reality is Canadians don’t want to associate themselves with America and they see themselves as distinctly different from Americans.
I’m not sure comparing atrocities is a road you want to go down.
canada really doesn't go that hard to separate itself from america

Anyway my initial point was more about culture and identity but I realized now I could have been clearer on that.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostWell, you got me there. 🤷🏻♂️canada resonates with the disingenuous goals of our hypocritical and wishy washy left. our assholes have been louder than usual the last few years but its still pretty much a plucky buddy cop duo

Oh, well I thought I was paying you guys a compliment with a modicum of empathy thrown in. My bad.
But anyway, I wonder if you're just helping me prove a point further. Don't the Ukrainians not want to associate with the Russians either?
I always got the impression that you guys like to dress up as Brits when going to work, but at home you like to dress down as Americans. That's why you're in our NBA and your Vancouver trynna be Hollywood North and so on and so forth, idk.

Have you ever heard of NNDB?
It was/is an offshoot of rotten.com, designed as a NSFW encyclopedia of bad things that bad people got into.
Not sure if either site is still around, I don't go to them anymore, but I remember that they used to have a lot of esoteric information, almost like they were their own private intelligence collection firm.
You might also like to check out Everything2.com as well. Sometimes I get good pieces of context from there. I still visit that site regularly, as it's very safe for work, mostly text-based.
Anyway, sorry to digress. I think you would be best served starting a history thread on a subject you feel most knowledgeable in. Maybe that's the history of Japan for you. Then I can come in talking about how crazy it is that the Fukushima thing happened.
I think the History thread should replace this Politics thread altogether in all honesty tbh.

When people talk of civil war, collapse, etc - this is the kinda shit that gets it done in 2018.

Great thread on a spectacular self-own by conservatives over the last decade+(as always), but i really enjoyed the punchline.
wait Sargon's I don't know basic fucking history ass is actually still popular?
It was an article on Jordan Peterson I was reading but the author had a very poignant message about all these politically and historically and whatever else vapid youtubers who just throw bullshit to the wall and now have these cult like followings, and how fucked it all is.

By Smoke Dogg Go To PostHave you ever heard of NNDB?First of all... no a history thread will not replace poli... talking about current events vs any point in history from Fukushima to the Roman empire aren't the same thing.

Being a Japanese history major does make Japan my start point but don't want to make a Japanese history thread, of course we can talk Japan in there but trying to figure out if we should just randomly talk about stuff or if we should have themes for some time and stay on topic...
