Late to the Party: Oasis.

I've long known about the band. Always intended on listening to them, just never got around to it. But one day a few months ago, "Wonderwall" came on at a local bar and man, there was just something that clicked with me. So I dove in a few weeks ago, and I just wanted to say I could definitely see what the hype was all about. The songs have this blend of melancholy and attitude, and some of them are damn catchy too.
Theyre the new Beatles!!!
But seriously, I like a few of their tunes. This song is suuuuuper cheesy but I like it.

By livefromkyoto Go To PostI like their first two albums alot. Pretty much all of What's the Story is great karaoke fodder.Yeah, but besides that they're ehhhhhh
If you like Oasis you should check out The Stone Roses. Just their first record. The best Brit Rock record of the late 80s to mid 90s with The Bends.
But yeah Oasis is dope. #TeamNoel

By s y Go To PostIf we're talking great 2000s bands, nothing is touching The Strokes' first LP.Funeral is better than Is This It.
Fight. Me.

Fuck yes. The whole Madchester movement kicked ass tbh, but they were the kings. This beat is still straight fire:

My man. Storm in Heaven where they were full-on shoegazer was epic AF. Like, I spent a whole weird dark winter in 3rd year just listening to Already there -> Beautiful mind on loop because those two songs are like drugs. Slide Away from that album...the bassline is so damn good, and the main guitar riff is just stadium-destroying humungous:
When they start doing the bluesy thing in their next couple of albums they lose me a bit, but they have a lot of great songs on them . The Drugs Don't Work always makes me misty eyed; Ashcroft would have ascended to rockstar godhood if he'd only been able to take his own advice. History is one of those great think-about-life songs, it gives me chills:

O Look, 5 records that are better than Is This It.
By s y Go To PostHot Fuss > Any Oasis albumHot Fuss falls apart in the back half. Those opening few tracks, though, whew.
Jenny Was a Friend of Mine, man. What a banger.

By HasphatsAnts Go To PostFuneralI'll give you Kid A. Since that's far and away RH's best album. I wasnt including them in the comparison though, theyre in a tier of their own.

Sorry Psy, invoking any Radiohead from The Bends through Kid A is like the dim mak of rock album arguments.
Everything in its Right Place is the sound of a man with a Prophet 5 playing the song that undoes the world:

OK Computer is right there imo. Fitter Happier + No Suprises -> Lucky is like, this unfair life shattering sequence to ever play to someone trapped in a soul-sucking office job. It's like the spiritual cage of modernity in audio form.
Also, the wikipedia page for it is a trip:

Fight. Me.
By rodeoclown Go To PostBloc Party's Silent Alarm is an absolute classic. Shame about everything they've done since.Agree on Silent Alarm but I also thought A Weekend In The City was good.

Yeah, I'm surprised myself that The Verve didn't ascend to God status, either. The neo British invasion of the 90s and 2000s was getting seriously heavy. Helped me discover a lot of great stuff outside of Nirvana, Weezer, The Offspring, etc.
I know they may not be everyone's cup of tea, but The Darkness is still one of my favorite bands to come out the whole wave. Obviously, they not a serious band with melancholy undertones like Radiohead or The Verve were, but for pure kick ass rock, they were almost unrivaled. And what they put out today is still fucking great.

This silly song has been in my head for days now.
