Just as I thought, the front looks a lot better with blacked out grille. Can't wait for the M4 reveal.
The back does a bit for sure but the front is a nice evolution of the F30.
I bet the 4-series will have a slightly different rear.
I bet the 4-series will have a slightly different rear.
Eh, looking at the IS again it's got some similarities but there's quite a few differences, particularly the fact that the outer sides slope down into that sharp edge:
If anything it feels like BMW is re-imagining the E30 and E36 rear for modern times.
If anything it feels like BMW is re-imagining the E30 and E36 rear for modern times.
“It has to beat everybody in the segment in driving dynamics because all the Australian, UK and American journalists say ‘ooh the E46 CSL was the last real 3 Series’,” Frohlich told motoring.com.au.
“I do not want to hear that shit anymore.”
Faced with increased dynamic competition in recent years from the likes of the Jaguar XE and Alfa Romeo Giulia – as well as its traditional rear-wheel drive rival the Mercedes-Benz C-class — BMW has made numerous changes to the new 3 Series.https://www.motoring.com.au/bmw-is-sick-of-bad-3-series-reviews-115073/
The most fundamental is the adoption of the stiffer new CLAR — or cluster — architecture, a reduction in weight up to 55kg despite the new generation car being bigger than its predecessor, a 10mm lower centre of gravity, wider tracks and the adoption of new passive dampers which BMW variously dubs stroke-dependant, travel-dependant or lift-related.
Well well well
Why is there not a M4 GC ffs
Pls God
Probably gonna pay off my Honda by end of this year. 8k remaining, and a year ahead. Then let my wife pick out something, probably an Audi, she's been flocking that way. Lease it since she doesn't drive they much at all, then come back to what I'm getting.
So we'll have the Accord coupe paid off, most likely a leased car, and I'm still undecided on mine. Never getting rid of the Honda. Shit may fuk around and be my son's car 😂

If you notice there's no RS4 sedan anymore (rumored to make a limited return, but nothing so far), and Mercedes doesn't even bother with an AMG C-Class in a gran coupe body.
Speaking of Honda's, how did they get the new Accord design so wrong especially compared with the Camry.

The Accord will probably outlast you, too. Incredible machines.
By Smokey Go To PostSpeaking of Honda's, how did they get the new Accord design so wrong especially compared with the Camry. In certain colors and from certain angles I think the Accord looks pretty good. But then I see it other times and I think its nasty. It's like that Seinfeld episode where Jerry is dating the girl who only looks good in the lighting at the diner but everywhere else she's yikes! looking.
I sort of wonder when (or if) Honda will make a truly good looking car again. The NSX is mostly good but, as with most Japanese car brands, they aren't there yet.

The slow-selling F-type will be replaced in 2020 by a roomier yet lighter sports car, CAR magazine understands. We expect both bodystyles to continue: the coupe (pictured above) and a soft-top roadster will again be offered, as Jag mops up sales in different parts of the world.
In the biggest clue that Jaguar is gunning even closer to Porsche 911 territory is the move to make the next F-type a 2+2.
The new architecture underpinning the next Jaguar F-type is no longer called PLA-D6a, according to our sources, who dub it the D7b evolution. It will stick with the aluminium-intensive architecture made in Castle Bromwich - and this one will be even lighter, according to our moles in the supply chain.https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/spy-shots/jaguar/f-type/
So-called Project Jennifer is the codename for the BMW-supplied 4.4-litre 560bhp twin-turbo V8, which is due to kick out the long-running supercharged 5.0-litre V8 originally patented by Ford.
Hrmm.
Don't see too many of them around here but the F-type is just gorgeous. Going to be interesting to see how they go forward.
My gut says I'll pick up a used one sometime Q1 2019. Used 911s are still quite a bit pricier for decent equipment, but a 991 and especially a 991.2 would be excellent, just not sure if it's within a budge for a reasonably used one.
These changes have allowed an increase in compression ratio from 10.0:1 to 10.5:1, which pays dividends in both power and efficiency. The 992 Carrera S output increases from 420 to 450 horsepower, without any change in today’s 16.0-psi boost pressure. (That's the same output that today's GTS produces with 18.1 psi.) Expect another 30 ponies or so in the new GTS. The base Carrera, however, gets a smaller bump, from 370 to 385 horsepower, with unspecified reduction in boost pressure from 13.1 psi in the 991.https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2020-porsche-911-992-preview

Hrmm.
Jalopnik and this article drive me nuts. They both mention the Jag motor being a Ford one. It fucking isn't, you journo hacks.
It is understood that company product planners have produced an outline strategy under which Jaguar’s conventional vehicle range would be phased out over the next five to seven years, to be replaced by fully electric vehicles.
And with no replacement for the F-Type in the works for when it dies in the first half of the 2020s, an electric Jaguar sports car is also a possibility.https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/jaguar-considers-transformation-ev-only-brand
Wait what? Pretty much just yesterday we had reports a replacement is coming in 2020. Wtf?
I don't believe a word of it. All that Jaguar has stated is that all future cars will be hybridized or electrified one way or another. Meaning, there will be an electrified gasoline car with a 48V setup (like the Audis), and that electric cars are very much a part of their future, but not exclusively like this article states.
https://www.jaguarlandrover.com/2017/going-electric
https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/jaguar-land-rover-18-billion-investment-electrification/
Basically, we should be seeing Jags with petrol motors and batteries making tons of power, in addition to a range of electric cars too.
So there could be 3 variants of one car, essentially. Petrol 48V, Hybrid, and Electric.

Right? And killing off the F-Type after they made the decision to source BMW's V8 makes no sense for them, either. It's basically their halo car at the moment.
I think the F-Type is being killed off in favor of something in the same niche that won't be called an F-Type. That's what I think.

They'll make the F-Type a 2+2 to better compete with the 911 and introduce a nicer interior.
Pretty sure the lock cylinder in my car went to shit. Went to the gas station and when I tried to turn the car off, it was really hard to turn the key at first. Thought I messed up or something and didn’t think of it after until I tried turning my car on. Key wouldn’t turn anymore and the steering wheel wouldn’t lock which I found odd. Messed with it for about 20 minutes and nothing. Steering wheel ended up locking up but twisting didn’t help at all either. Spent two hours or so until I gave up and called the tow truck.

Porsche has offered new hints about the upcoming Taycan electric sedan's pricing. Instead of turning it into an exclusive range-topping model, the Taycan will slot between the Cayenne and the Panamera. Automotive News calculates that Porsche will price the Taycan somewhere between $86,500 (75,000 euros) and $104,500 (90,600 euros) in Germany.RIP Tesla
That is quite near to the price range of Tesla Model S on the German market, as the 75D, without taxes, costs 74,580 euros and the 100D costs 93,780 without taxes. The range-topping P100D is priced at just under 125,000 euros. Porsche Chief Financial Officer Lutz Meschke sees Porsche offering a more expensive, high-performance version of the Taycan costing up to 200,000 euros.
In the U.S, the Cayenne starts from $65,700, while the most affordable Panamera is priced at $85,000. It will be interesting to see if the U.S. market Taycan also finds itself between those models when it's released next year.

By Smokey Go To PostThis doesn't make sense.SUVs are most definitely target to women, and more broadly, families.
By Smokey Go To PostThis doesn't make sense.Does it make sense that trucks and sports cars are aimed at men? Women see the utility in having a large people mover and also it gives a sense of security being in a larger vehicle.
Wait are we talking about like Range Rovers? Cayanne's and the like?
I think they're aimed at families or just maturer people in general, I think they're totally gender neutral.

Nah homie, you're off. SUVs are seeing a shift to being targeted at millennials about to have kids. There's even shit like the "purse problem", where SUVs like the Expedition are designed to be able to support large purses.

I don't know how it is in your neck of the woods but here in the South SUV's seem to be driven by everyone, man and woman alike. And when I say SUV's I also mean crossovers as they are fairly ubiquitous at this point. Trucks, and especially BIG trucks are still solidly in the male domain but Explorers, Expeditions, Tahoes, 4-Runners, etc. have all become pretty gender neutral.

Steering lock issues on VWs? Check to see if there's a fuse you can pull to disable the steering lock. All earlier 370Zs, last gen Maximas, and earlier GTRs had this issue. You could pull a fuse to disable the steering lock and that was that.
Adam, what happened to your car that required $2K of work?
Also, yes, SUVs are highly targeted at the female demographic. They are designed to be used and driven by all, but built with utility, function, and comfort that appeals to women before men. The female demographic urged their husband to buy an SUV because it was safer for their children occupants in the event of an accident. This is now nonsense, because the playing field has been leveled...but females were responsible for the SUV push.
One funny example: if you've ever sat in an older Infiniti from the mid-2000s, specifically an FX, the seat controls were located on top of the seat right by the center console. This is contrast to being on the side, between the door and seat. Why? Infiniti's market research noticed a few women mentioned breaking nails searching for seat controls down there. So they devised a solution.

Shout out to mashoutposse. Nice seeing you again bro! You're pretty well known among the scene. Everyone knows how sick your car sound.
Over 4000 miles on my TTRS now since June 22nd. The more I drive it the more I think that it is a very unique and underappreciated car. It has that Audi RS edge and style to it but it's also fairly lightweight and nimble for an AWD vehicle and of course the interior is top notch. It's doing everything I want it to do and I am extremely glad I bought it.
I found a little side street in the town where I work where there's a metal warehouse building sitting fairly close to the road and I discovered I can do a nice pull next to it and the reverberation of the exhaust sound is just mental. I've altered my route more than few times to go pick up some coffee and then head down this side street (where I drop my window, of course) and it always puts a big grin on my face. It's a great way to start a work day, I'll tell you.
