25% is absolutely bonkers. Is he off his rocker? (OF COURSE HE IS.) The retaliatory tariffs on this will be absolutely brutal.
Out of all the tariffs this one and the steel one are a big deal. On the upside, it should keep the value of my import cars up quite a bit since it'll dry out the used market.

Not only will the cost be passed down to the consumer, the higher sales tax hit at many state levels due to the higher sales price will also be awful.
Most domestic cars use some parts manufactured over seas, so I've read that this could affect domestic prices as material to manufacture goes up.
Yep. And just wait until the price across all the competing brands normalizes around the tariffs regardless of whether the car is "foreign" or not.
By reilo Go To PostWelp gents, buy that new import car ASAP or just buy used:

I really feel as though he thinks that these tariffs stand on their own and don't have other consequences. This is going to be disastrous. The steel and aluminum tariffs have already led to issues for domestic auto manufacturers, despite getting most of their materials from the US.
Everything is just going to get more expensive and the government is going to be siphoning the 25%. This is not a recipe for growth.

The hit in 2018 from the steel and aluminum tariffs enacted in March is larger than the first quarter tax savings for General Motors Co., Ford Motor Co. and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV, according to data compiled by Bloomberg and estimates provided by Nomura analyst Anindya Das. Assuming approximately the same tax savings from a lower corporate rate each quarter, the steel and aluminum tariffs could eat up anywhere from about a third to well more than half of the tax benefits in 2018, the Bloomberg analysis shows.
“The steel and aluminum tariffs hurt,” said Ed Cohen, Honda Motor Co.’s vice president for government and industry affairs. “The tax bill was intended to spur economic activity and this will have the opposite economic effect.”

I'm ready for a video of dem POP POP POPS.
Having test driven the "regular" F-Type R and seen how much car it is the SVR has to be completely mental. What a thing!
So Porsche updated the spec page for the Mission E/Taycan and it apparently has more than 600hp, 300+ mi range and 0-62 MPH in under 3.5 secs. Sick.

In other news I dropped the TTRS off with my trusted mechanic friend who is going to drain the break-in oil and put in fresh along with a new filter. Additionally I am going to send off a sample of the original oil to Blackstone Labs for analysis. No real reason to do this other than it just being geeky cool but it's something I've always wanted to do with a new car so I am.

What would this tell you?
By Adam Go To PostWhat would this tell you?The level of particulates in the oil as well as the condition of the detergents (which can help you determine how often you should actually be changing the oil). Here's a sample report from an Audi 3.0 engine that shows what it looks like and what they recommend based on their findings. https://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/420208-Blackstone-Labs-oil-analysis-report!-Great-results! Also, the standard test is $28 so it is fairly cheap!
Ordered my first performance mod for the Z today. Normally, a totally newb purchase, but the Z platform has come a long way with this mod: INTAKES!
In this instance, true cold air intakes that sit in an optimal position just behind the bumper and are not susceptible to water, unless the front is submerged. They are Z1 intakes. Gains? 22WHP. 30WHP with a tune. And probably next month I'll get Motordyne ART Pipes too, to get rid of the terrible cats on the car. Then tune. Should be in the 375HP range thereafter. I'll decide if I want to push it to 400HP, which will require a full true-dual exhaust. I do think it is likely I will get an X-pipe or a Y-pipe done at some point, but I'll see. I don't want to push the sound cabin levels of the exhaust too much.
My 600HP tune is also awaiting to be installed. :O

Pulls out eyepiece... yep, that's a 911.
Still as handsome as ever, although I'm not sure about the body panel layouts for the trunk and hood. Seam location seems semi-unattractive.

Is that a revision or what
It will have an all-new interior though, similar to what the Panamera has today. There'll also be a plug-in hybrid with the 992.2 revision.
I love it though, I think it's a nice evolution of the 911 (as it should be!) especially since the 991 and on were such huge upgrades in terms of styling for Porsche.

Time must be warping as I get older. I feel the the 991 came out just a few years ago? Now onto 992?

I must be thinking of the turbos being implemented throughout the 911 line.
Really though, I just want to see a standard interior and tech that’s on par with other luxury models. If it matches the Panamera, should be good enough.
If the base model is really 390 HP it’s gonna be bonkers quick, not that the current 911 is even remotely slow anyway.

I flirted with the idea. And have a terrific guy who will do the entire install really cheap. But I decided I'd rather keep the car N/A, since I already have a boosted beast anyway. And now that the tuning hardware is finally in my possession, I absolutely cannot fathom what 600HP is going to feel like in this thing.
But yeah, Zs are picking up more power now because tuners and the tuning software makers finally figured out how to properly adjust the car's timing and also found a way to play with the VVEL system a little too.
Shoutout to the the Z community as a whole, especially in Florida. Infinitely better than the BMW community, which is just littered with egos and assholes, albeit some really great guys too.
But the moderation is terrible. I got kicked out the Central FL BMW FB group...because I posted a classified listing of an E46 M3 from the area and asked if anybody knew the car. I asked because it had some mods, so I thought the enthusiast circle may recognize it. Nope. Banned by the egotistical cunt that runs the page who thinks she's all knowing and smarter than everyone because she has a PHD.
The 992 Porsche is going to be glorious. Look at the deck lid, it almost looks like the whole thing is going to rise up as a spoiler, instead of just being a simple engine bay access door.
Can't wait to drive the 992 later this year!
The employee training events for the 911 are always top notch since its the brands halo product.
Some of the guys that have been with the company longer were telling me they were flown out and put up in 5 star hotels and all given 911s for a week at the 991 launch. For the street drives, they had police shut down sections of mountain roads so the cars could be tested without fear of traffic or getting pulled over. For the track drives, all the other top sports cars from other manufacturers were brought out for direct back to back comparison.
Btw, we have already started taking deposits for the Taycan. Not sure about the other sales guys, but I have 7 orders already myself. If they pull off what they are planning, its gonna be a huge sales success. A lot of people switching from Tesla. I will be driving that as well in a few months.

I know what you mean about the boosted beast. It's insanely addicting just ramping up the boost and doing mods for big power. When the torque hits the rear wheels it's like a drug hitting your bloodstream.
I'm trying to talk myself out of upgrading my turbos, but 700 hp is just a turbo upgrade and retune away...
Debating on if I should make a Cars and Coffee video since I got there late... besides all you need to know about today is this:

Lol tbh these C&C videos are pretty good practice for me to do different kinds of editing. At work, we have a set template that you can't really deviate from so being able to edit non cookie cutter stuff is interesting to say the least.
Have fun at Quakecon... I wish I can go but I'll be flying out to LA on Friday for KCON lol.
Speaking of, if any of y'all are in LA and are free Monday(the 13th)... come hang out with me at the Petersen. My flight isn't until 6PM so I'll probably head to the Petersen around lunch.
