By AlphaSnacks Go To PostKibs needs to reveal his purchase. That's all I'm saying.Fine, then. :p
It will be a 2019 Cayman Base with the following options:
- Exterior in Guards Red
- 19" Cayman S Wheels
- Sport Tailpipes in Silver
- Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM)
- Porsche Torque Vectoring w/Mechanically Locking Differential
- Extended Range Fuel Tank, 16.9 gal
- Bi-Xenon™ Headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System
- Sport Seats Plus (2-way) in Black Leather
- Seat Belts in Guards Red
- Seat Heating
- Seat Ventilation
- GT Sport Steering Wheel
- Automatically Dimming Mirrors with Integrated Rain Sensor
- BOSE® Surround Sound System
It's not nearly as heavily optioned as it could be (because that would be too much money for me to justify lol). The only purely cosmetic things are the tail pipes, seat belts, speakers, and probably the steering wheel. The 19" wheels require rear tires that are the barest bit wider than the stock 18" wheels. The 20" are the same width as the 19".
I wanted those headlights because there are a lot of really sharp curves and turns with minimal lights where I will be driving it and being able to see that bit further ahead in the turn will be useful. Similarly, I wanted the dimming mirrors because the contrast of how dark it is outside and people behind me with really bright highs on is painful.
If you guys remember me asking about seat ventilation a week or two ago, you will know why I need that down here. :p
Oh, some renders from the Porsche website of what it should most likely look like with those options:

By Kibner Go To PostFine, then. :pGreat spec! I played with almost exactly this same configuration back when I was seriously considering the 718 although the exterior color would change daily, hehe. That will be a crazy fun car and covers all the bases in terms of enough luxury to make it usable on a daily basis. I especially like the extended range fuel tank and wish more manufacturer's would offer that option.

The allocations are supposed to be coming in September, I believe. Haven't fully decided where to receive it, but it's most likely not going to be LA or Atlanta as they are just too far away.
That extended fuel tank is only an option on the base Cayman. It comes standard on the other versions, much like the 19" wheels.

Just bought an E36 M3 with 90k miles for 3300... Highly recommend it as a fun car/project. Hard as hell to find a good one though.

I used to have one of these as well. '89 325i with S50 and transmission from '95 M3 in it. One of the best cars I've ever driven. It's not a hard swap at all, the M5x/S5x motors slot right into an E30 with OEM mounts. Just need an E34 oil pan for clearance and even then you'll be at big risk of oil pan breakage without a protective plate/skidpad, that's one of the only downsides. Had a/C in it too so it was a really fun daily. About as fast as a stock E46 M3.
By Facism Go To PostI just looked the m3 up. Like minimum 7000 for a used one with 95k mileage lmao.
Yup I got super lucky on this one. One of my landlords had it sitting at his mansion/house, undriven...Not sure if I should just flip it and put that money into an E92 M3 or keep it.

Yep, this is more or less what it is. It's also got an entirely redone interior with Recaro buckets from an M3, and I'm pretty sure an entirely refreshed suspension setup as well. Wish I had some good pics of the thing.
Almost a year later and I'm still not used to how my car handles at the threshold of grip. That VAQ differential is some black magic sorcery.
The moment you hit that threshold of grip and it kicks in, it basically feels like the car suddenly turned RWD coz you feel the rear of the car just wanting to slide out lol. It's such a weird feeling coz my brain is telling me to start countersteering but you can just apply more and more gas until you start understeering and I'm like wtf.
I was expecting bronze or copper tbh lmao so I'll take this.

im a basic bitch car guy so apologies if any of what i say is noobish.
my lease is almost up on my 2015 328i. i could renew and get a 330i but i'm not really feeling how spartan the features of the 3 series are unless i drop big bux for the options, especially compared to the competition. also my dealer has downgraded their warranty from 50k miles to 36k so im erring on a switch. been looking at the a4, q50 or gs350 as replacements. any general thoughts on these models?
im thinking of buying this time around since my commute is pretty long in terms of distance, im already well past 50k in my 328 in less than 3 years. is the german reliability stereotype true for newer models? the new a4s seem dope and have a solid mix of tech, performance and fuel economy. my other idea was doing a cpo on a q50 or gs---my local lexus dealers have a couple fully loaded 2016 f sport models in the 32k-35k range.
i love the fuel economy and driving feel/turbo 4 of the 328i but im willing to discard those plusses for long term reliability of a japanese model.

I think the Q50 3.0t (300HP or 400HP model) are both great buys. Extremely affordable leases and reliable cars.
Yes, German cars are still notoriously unreliable after all this time. I've owned plenty (numerous Audis and BMWs) and they are hilariously unreliable even when new. My dad back in NYC just leased an E300 and I warned him not to. He's regretting it already. He loves the interior, but he's had some issue with it after only 2K miles.
For all the shit Jaguars get about being unreliable, those have largely turned out to be fables with Jags newer than 2010. None of my 3 Jaguars have ever had major issues, apart from a manufacturing defect on my '16 XF where it shipped with a bad AC compressor. But Jag customer support reimbursed me $3K for the troubles. So I'd put the Jag XE on your list of cars to drive - it's the sportiest of the bunch by far.
GS350 is a great car and will probably outlive you with general maintenance.

A friend of my brother's back in NY has over 60 supercars in his fleet...and his 991 911 Turbo S has OEM GT3-RS front fenders made to fit the car. :O
That collection is godly. Wow.
On a personal note, I got my car back from the detail shop after 2 days. Full paint correction and Modesta coating so its looking clean af. Paid extra to have the engine bay detailed and it looks amazing now. Truly a showpiece.
I am also going to tell my Ferrari dealer to order the Michelin PS4S tomorrow morning. It's still on it's original P Zeros from 2013. They already performed a full annual service on it 5 days ago so its in tip top shape otherwise.
Earliet today, I took it to a friends garage and we removed the diffuser and pulled some vacuum hoses to keep the exhaust valves pinned open. Took maybe an hour start to finish and I love the more aggressive and consistent noise. I've got the sport exhaust option from the factory and it screams. Not sure I would want it any louder.
Went driving after with his GT3 and another friends Aventador SV Roadster. Good times!

It's got the best interior and tech (and probably gas mileage also) of the three you mentioned and on a 3 year lease I seriously doubt you would run into any issues with it. Every single Audi model is recommended by Consumer Reports right now and the A4 is their favorite overall sedan because of how strong it is in nearly all categories. I myself am in love with the interior on my TTRS and the virtual cockpit and B&O stereo are fantastic.
I owned a G37 for a while and enjoyed its performance but the transmission performance of those cars (as well as the overall gas mileage) will be behind the German cars. The Lexus is an interesting choice. Still not as good on the tech or mileage front as the Audi but, in my mind, better overall than the Infiniti if it is comfort, stereo and reliability that you are after over everything else. I plan on keeping my Lexus GX until the wheels fall off and it's still happily doing its thing going on 15 years now.

Never seen a black F50 before this one. Seeing it in action, coming up aggressively in your rear view ... Wow.
Yeah, I'm also team F50 > F40. It just looks leagues better. And it's an NA V12 that revved to just over 8000 RPM, over the turbo V8's 7000.
Funny though, neither car is faster than the other. Both 1/4 mile times were basically the same. But I'd bet that top end the F50 would be faster because it's a 6MT, over the 5MT of the F40.

I dropped my car off with the detailer this morning for the Xpel installation and Ceramic coating. I decided to add fenders to the protected areas so I will end up with full front, hood, rocker panels and fenders covered with Xpel while the rest of the car will be treated with the ceramic coating. As I was dropping the car off the detailer commented that Audi has been doing great paint work recently and that he was really impressed with the factory paint job and prep work (which makes his job that much easier).
I will post pics when I pick the car up in a few days.
