By reilo Go To PostNothing for now.
I am going to move into a place with an attached garage so maybe I will finally get that E30 project. I want one in stock/good condition though that's drivable.
Please get a e30 m3 ....
LOL can't afford an E30 M3. Would rather get a 964 911 for that money.
I think I'd prefer a S52 swapped E30 anyhow. Much cheaper to do with greater benefits.
I'm just sad I won't be able to find a M-Technic 2.

Car allocation update: The California dealership initially signed off on the trade to my local Audi dealership but then wanted them to take 5 additional cars before they would let the TTRS go so that cause the whole thing to go south. I spoke with my salesperson yesterday and relaxed some of my criteria and also suggested a car I had seen on the internet at Audi Huntsville. It's in my second color choice, which is Ara Blue and is this car: https://www.audihuntsville.com/new/Audi/2018-Audi-TT+RS-huntsville+al-433597220a0e0a176b99821137192d71.htm
It still has the important bits although lacks the interior with the red accents (which was optional for me anyway as long as the carbon fiber inserts were present and this car has those). I also like the fact that it does not have the black optics pack which makes it somewhat unique and I prefer the blue with the silver accents over the black anyway.
My salesman responded this morning and said Huntsville had approved the trade and they were working out which of their cars to send over so as long as that goes smoothly I might actually be in a TTRS fairly soon. Send some good luck my way if you think about it. ;-)

Speaking of my future car endeavors: best resources to look for an E30 besides BaT, Craigslist, eBay, etc? I'll probably make a WTB ad on r3v, too.
Also debating whether to buy a E36 M3 Coupe? If I want to do a S52 swap, that's about as good of a source car as I would have. They're also so easy to find and would be extremely daily drivable in the short-term. Decisions, decisions.
I hate E36s.
I will stop responding to any text you ever send me. I don't care how urgent.

Hnnnngggg. That is the best color I've seen on a TT-RS for sure.

E46 is out of budget.
You need to look outside of BMWs. The maintenance will be cringe worthy on an E36 and E30 parts are becoming more and more difficult to find with time.
I've wanted an E30 forever though. I wouldn't even know what other car I would want? 964 911? Those are crazy expensive.
By AlphaSnacks Go To PostThat's your second color choice?!Hehe thanks. Heard back from my salesperson and the car will definitely be in sometime Friday. Unless it comes in early in the day I will go and get it on Saturday. Hype!

Relio, check out BMW CCA classifieds and the various Bimmer Forums. Should be able to find a decent one through that avenue.
I'll keep my eyes open locally too.
They're far more reliable with fewer major issues than the E46.
Parts are super easy to come by, and cheap, for both. Just take a gander at ECS tuning.
*Edit* though I support a Porsche purchase too. Only thing I'd trade my M5 for is a 911.

E36s are highly sought after as track (and LeMons) cars due to reliability and low consumables. They're a great platform that gets little love here in the states cause we got a shit engine compared to Europe.

He'd start looking to engine swap the E36 though. That shit's gonna add up in $$$. Fuck that noise. USDM got the shit motor, as you said. (Balanced my ass, E36M apologists). If he's going to look into a swap, he's going down a rabbit hole.
I'd be swapping tbe E36 M3 engine into the E30.
Although I could probably source the engine itself pretty easily.

I used to own an E30 with an S50 swap + full drivetrain. One of the best cars I've ever driven. Also driven an S52 swapped one. Highly recommend it if you can find one already swapped.
The timing of this is strange as I just drove an E36 M3 today that I'm buying off a landlord for $4k. It has 85k miles, manual seats (!), Lightweight wheels, some other goodies, 5 spd manual coupe. Should match up well with the other BMWs in my collection. E36 M3 is a wonderful drivers car, one of the best of all time and the S50/S52 are a lot less finicky than the S54 or Euro E36 M3. They also respond ridiculously well to boost.
It responds really well with just a few mods.

Check out the "Intake Breaker Mods" section. Great power and loves to rev afterwards. The only major fault with it is cooling overhead, and you'll need to beef up the radiator as well, which that thread goes over. It's a very solid engine.

That's a great link. And man it cannot be overstated how excellent the E36 M3 is at any situation you could ask of it. Daily driving, track car, boost monster... It's a jack of all trades, master of all. Shame that the new BMWs aren't as soulfully crafted.
That reminds me, you also own the best BMW ever. The E39 M5 can't be beat, everyone should be scrambling to get one before they're all gone and E30 M3 priced. I love mine to death. I've actually considered buying a 2nd one just because I know they're going to go way up over the next decade.

Well, yesterday was the day! First, some pics!
That last picture is the little red box that the keys come in. I think it's very cool! Anyway and as you can see, it was a beautiful day for a new car delivery. The car actually arrived on Thursday evening at Audi South Atlanta so I was able to head down Friday morning for signing the paperwork and taking delivery. And I can't say enough good things about the folks at Audi South Atlanta. They had to search far and wide to find a car for me, gave me an excellent deal and were some of the nicest and friendliest bunch of car folks that I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. There was 0% BS with the transaction and at no point was I pressured for any reason. It was, truthfully, a very easy and low stress car buying experience!
As for the car itself I am still processing and coming to grips with it because it is so far above and beyond anything that I have ever owned before. It goes from mild to wild at the touch of a button, the sounds it makes touch my happy places, the seats and interior are wonderful, the stereo and MMI have me in awe and the overall quality and attention to detail throughout the entire car are just first rate. I am sure that as I get to know the car I will have some gripes and niggles because nothing is perfect but, as I said before I even purchased the car, the TTRS just ticks all the boxes for me as far as I what I was looking for in a new automobile.
Once I get it broken in properly I will do some GoPro footage and, I am sure, have some more thoughts to share. Right now all I want to do is get out there and drive!

Just went for my first night drive. Epic! And now I am geeking out because as I get out of my car at my house I see this:
Audi Sport puddle lights! How cool is that? Likely only .000001% of the world's population would even care about something like that but I think it's the bomb and I love it when enthusiast cars have little details like that.

The funny thing I noticed in that pic is that Audi still uses the same mirror knobs and window switches since my 2005 A6 4.2 hahaha. :p
Those TTRS sure are something special. Congrats and enjoy that car, it's definitely one of their best ever! That thing has to be a blast in any scenario the way they are setup.
It really is blowing me away and in an entirely different league than anything that I have ever owned before. I'm not used to having seats that are supremely comfortable but also hold me in place for sporty driving (go, go adjustable bolsters!). I'm not used to having such a sophisticated MMI and the RS specific Sport Displays on the Virtual Cockpit are stellar (and are going to take a while for me to learn in depth). I'm not used to having this kind of power underfoot and the car has already surprised me a few times when I pushed my foot down a little harder than normal. I'm not used to having such a good sounding motor that I can blip anytime I want with the paddles. I'm not used to any of it but the learning process sure is fantastic!
congrats matmanx
did you buy or lease? Asking because I can't recall seeing a ttrs in the wild. Curious if they're something that holds their value well or what.

Had some time to kill before the furniture store opened, so I visited the local Porsche dealership to browse and maybe talk with the staff. Sadly, they are closed on Sundays and, of the cars on display, they had a single Boxster (GTSversion) but no Cayman anywhere. Lots of Panamera and Cayenne, though.
I got new tires on the Jag XF. Pirelli P Zero Nero GTs. Terrific tire, and surprisingly not that expensive for the 18s the car has. Extremely quiet, fantastic dry grip, and been driving through massive puddles on purpose during out crazy Florida rain storms, and not once did they catch water and pull left or right. And this is a summer tire too. Much better than the Goodyear Eagle garbage the car came with stock.
By Smokey Go To Postcongrats matmanxI purchased. I will be driving enough and putting enough miles on it that I didn't even bother to check the lease rates. Ideally it is a car I will be keeping for at least the duration of the warranty period (and maybe longer depending on reliability) so my plan is to get it paid off in about 4 years and then determine what I want to do with it.

As far as holding its value goes I think the TT's in general are decent but not great. The RS might be better because of the rarity (only about 600 for the 2018 model year) but ultimately it is up to Audi Finance as far as residuals and all that.

And speaking of Pirelli tires I thought that all of the TTRS cars with 20" wheels came with Pirelli's from the factory but I was mistaken. Mine came with Yokohama Advan Sport 105's and I really like them. According to Tirerack's professional reviews they are nearly as good as the Michilen Pilot Sports (but not the PS4) and I have been impressed with their grip, noise level and comfort considering they are a 30 aspect ratio tire. I won't go back with them simply because they are special order Audi OEM and $350 a pop but for an OEM tire I am well pleased. When these wear out it will most likely be the Michelin PS4 in a 35 aspect ratio.
