By AlphaSnacks Go To PostNow that's a worthwhile proposition. The detuned 540HP V10 is literally just throttle being programmed to not open past 80% at WOT. Nothing more than an ECU flash required to achieve all 600HP. Same as the last R8 and Gallardos.See, even better!
Man I missed a bunch of stuff this weekend while I was busy not checking the site. I don't even really know where to interject but I will say a few things:
Jongkookie regarding detailing - Ceramic coating is a must for my next car and I don't care how much I love it I will never go black again on a car. It triggers my OCD too much so I feel your pain with your black GTI. Good luck brother!
Alpha on the Jag thing - This weekend the idea that I should not discount Jaguar from my car hunt seriously popped in to my mind. They make good looking, good driving cars and their warranties are second to none. 5/60k with included maintenance on the new models and 7/100k on the CPO models is just crazy. And of course the F Type V8 makes me weak in the knees...
NSX vs Lambo - of course the Lambo is more special and better sounding. If you want exclusivity then it doesnt get much better than that.

+1 for Lambo
But what about the Spyder Performante? A topless Superleggera would be my choice.
My only nitpick would be the roof not being aluminum like the 458/488 Spider.

By zfzmikey Go To PostPer the bolded above, I think this basically the issue with most modern cars. The capability is almost pointless outside of a track. I'm not talking E30 M3 vs F80 M3 kind of a difference, but the sharp change that started happening in the late part of the 00s through now. If I were a member at a track like Thermal and that kind of use was my weekend joy, then it's a different thing entirely. I think that's a fairly small demographic for owners of exotics, let alone sports cars.
Perhaps as that performance gap continues to widen, I'll change my mind. But the speeds one can carry with performance cars from 10-15 years ago was already a bit over the top for canyons and back roads.
Totally agree with the Superleggera purchase for all the same reasons.
Precisely. The only new generation car that offers a wide enough delta from the much more fun and visceral old guard is the 720S.
NSX and 570 are cars for people with limited exotic car ownership experience or a track focus. Compliant, easy to maintain, built for regular usage, technically sound, approachable. Fantastic upgrades over cars like M4, Corvette, 911, and GTR.
I’m glad Acura makes the NSX. It is underrated - that was my main takeaway from my first drive last year, and still is. First-time guys will be thrilled. Lots of fantastic choices if your bankroll goes to $150-200k.

With the option it will still be way more than my budget.

I prefer coupe.
This will be for the preLp superleggera MK1
Clunkier egear, less refine and raw. Best sounding Gallardo. Very limited edition, especially the one I have in mind . 1 out of 8.
The LP supperleggera MK2
More refine, way better egear. Doesn't sound as good and not really limited. Kinda like an inferior version of the huracan.
That's why I lean towards the MK1,...at least it's a huge contrast to a huracan.
By shinshoryuken Go To PostPapers signed….Lambo?!
By reilo Go To Postaahahah aye goddamn, congrats
Thanks FedEx the paperworks today....probably won't get shipped to me till next month.
Ain't the most comfortable or practical car....but it's the most raw version of the Gallardo.
It's like the Stradale of lambos...

We will require an exhaust vid as tribute.
Getting kind of tired of Doug's schtick.....
Hard to tell when he's being honest, or if he's holding an opinion to be edgy/for clicks. He's like the cable news talking head of car journalism.
Car looks overbaked, just like the new Camaro.

Excellent choice. Always tick your personal boxes when you have the chance. :) Congratulations!
PS - John Hrad is great; hope you’re working with him.

Thanks for your feedback. It really helped me decide on which car to choose.
The Pre-LP superleggera ain't the most popular choice ..But its a unicorn!

I've been on that boat for quite some time now. His cornball and faux edge baked in with faux laughter is simply grating.
And yes, the new ZR1 is ugly.

When are we going to see your brother and his beautiful Performante on here?

Never liked him from the start. Everything he do seems forced. Things he nitpicks about are things I never even think about.
By mashoutposse Go To PostWhen are we going to see your brother and his beautiful Performante on here?
Never, he doesn't do forums. He has an IG for that, I suppose. His philosophy of anymore downtime is that it's wasting money.
Can't say he's wrong.
Hahah...Johan sacked from Cadillac. Not trying to laugh at a man's misfortune (then again...dude's probably richer than I'll ever be). But I always said the guy was a shit CEO:

Any excitement over the competition pack M2? I'm sort of waiting to see some first drive previews and reviews before I decide if I want to seriously look into one or not. Looks like it is getting some nice upgrades but I still don't think they are addressing the one glaring omission (lack of adaptive dampers) versus its competition.
Very excited. It's actually NOT a competition package. The M2 Competition fully replaces the old M2. And it includes all of the comp pkg hardware from the M3/M4.
The only question is of course price...but I don't expect more than a 10K jump in price, since the outgoing car is relatively cheap. But yeah, it is a pretty awesome M car. But if I were an M2 owner, maaaaaaaan would I be mad as fuck.

Yeah I thought about that. The M2 hasn't been out that long and has been fairly supply constrained which gave it a little bit more panache than maybe it would have otherwise had. Previous M2 buyers are likely to be salty with the new and improved version. I wonder if BMW is going to make it more available or if it will still be fairly tough to find one on the lot.
Anyone have any experience with a 2016+ (C7.5) Audi S6/S7?
Thinking about getting an S6 as a daily driver before they discontinue the twin turbo v8.

Wat, is the TT v8 confirmed to be gone?
By burgerdog Go To PostWat, is the TT v8 confirmed to be gone?
Just speculation at this point.
Rumor is that the 2.9T from the RS4/RS5/Porsche applications will replace the 4.0T in the S6/7 :(

I can say that my old 2012 A6 3.0T (Supercharged) had a number of issues, such as burning oil, failing thermostat/overheating, electrical gremlins (no heat in the dead of winter on a 25-degree day)...all within 12K miles of ownership. After I left the car back in NYC with my dad, he went and got a 2015 when the lease was done. It still burned oil and lost a sensor or two that required replacement.
If you got a 2016 S6, you'd have quite a bit of warranty on it (especially some extra from the CPO). So you'll likely be visiting the dealer here and there, but it'll definitely satisfy you as a car. Audi's V8s are awesome.
Congrats on the Superleggera! Think you made the right call.
The R8 RWS seems like an interesting proposition... Gonna call and see if there's any allocations at dealers near me. Seems like a bargain at msrp, especially since 600+ glorious N/A horsepower is an exhaust and tune away.
In other news, Porsche sets another record at the Ring for N/A RWD sportscar with a 6.56.4 in the new 2019 GT3RS. Watch the full lap here:

That engine has a shit load of torque and a good amount of hp but my god that sound it makes is horrible. The ftype is the only v6 that sounds pretty good to me.

Damn...the new Navi not fucking around
About time
Think of full-size, high-end SUVs, and what names jump to mind? Probably Cadillac’s Escalade, Lincoln’s Navigator, Mercedes-Benz’s GLS and maybe Lexus’ LX and Infiniti’s QX80. Each is massive, well-built and basically drives the same. Their mission is to transport you and a ton of friends smoothly and comfortably.
While so far this year the Escalade is the best-seller out of the group, the Navigator, new this year, is catching up and doing it quickly: Its sales are up 63 percent in 2018 (63 percent!!). Last month a Navigator lasted just 10 days on dealer lots, according to Automotive News, while the high-end Black Label models spent only about seven days in showrooms. Meanwhile, the average Navigator price is up about $25,600 from a year earlier.

So the new Navigator has some serious momentum going. To try to give the Escalade the proverbial shot in the arm, General Motors is offering $10,000 discounts, hoping to keep potential buyers from wandering off to a Lincoln dealer for a hot-selling new Navigator.
Automotive News says the deal is nationwide and lasts until May 31. Lease customers ready to turn in their 2016 Escalades can get the $10,000. If you bought an Escalade and trade it in for a new one, you can get $7,500.

Saw a brand new white Navigator in front of me in the parking lot today. Panel gaps around the tailgate were not consistent. FoMoCo gonna FoMoCo. It's like now that I know how inconsistent their QC is I cannot un-see it. =(

By AlphaSnacks Go To PostThat video is from 2014…is that how long it's been sitting? That can't be.
Of course not.
Gave you the wrong link ..but it's the same car.
Took this recently after the wheels came back from being refinished (properly this time, blasted down and baked). Car needed a bath and it just looked too slick after the wash.
I also ordered a few parts for it...vroom vroom and aesthetic. Car will be making 620HP with 2 little pieces: tune and pulley. It's running 11s now in the 1/4 mile, and after the tune it'll be 10s. Pretty exciting stuff.
