Fixing more than a dozen paint chips and/or rust spots on my Sonata is proving more work than the incredible amount I thought it would. I also didn't do a great job at it, but oh well. I'm just trying to stop rust from appearing or spreading so it's not that big a deal.
Sanding is by far the worst part. Wish I had a tool so I didn't have to do it by hand. Uggh.

Anybody here in Atlanta?
Gonna be spending about 10 days there this week for work and I'm staying in downtown, close to the World Congress Center/Aquarium.
Any recommendations on spots to hit? I'm definitely hitting up the Coke museum and maybe tour the CNN Studios. I've looked in to visiting the Porsche HQ but it doesn't seem like they have openings for tours or anything like that, just the driving simulators are available lol.
Also if any of you are up for a beer or two, lemme know!

By jongkookie Go To PostAnybody here in Atlanta?Jong definitely do the OPD VIP Tour (One Porsche Drive). It's a 90 minute guided tour of the facility with a hot lap at the end driven by one of their instructors. I think it's $50 or $75 but here's the link and you have to call to book it. https://www.porschedriving.com/porsche-experience-center-atlanta/experiences/opd-tour---vip

Edit - Forgot to mention you absolutely must make a reservation and eat at the Restaurant 356. It's delicious, classy and overlooks the track so you can watch the action while you have your meal. Have fun!
It's finally time to get my Macan Ceramic coated. On the advice of my detailer who did my TTRS last time I am going for the Ceramic Pro silver package. Dropping it off with him Thursday night and will pick it up Saturday morning, hopefully in time for the Porche's and Coffee being held this Saturday. Can't wait to see it completed.

Oooh, I actually just got in Atlanta today but missed reading this until now. Unfortunately I start work tomorrow and won't get off until the 4th, which is also when I head back to Dallas.
I'll give them a call tomorrow and see if I can do the VIP Tour on Thursday coz the website says it's unavailable. If not, I'll at least definitely make a reservation for lunch before my flight in the afternoon.

It's worth going to at least eat there and walk around the facility and you can see a lot of cool cars and memorabilia that way even if you can't get the tour.

Fortunately, I was right. It was spark knock and reverting the ECU back to stock fixed the issue. I've driven it quite a number of times since, especially when it's the warmest out, and it hasn't made a noise since. Spoke to the kid who tuned the car, he refunded me half of his labor for the tune (I keep the license). I'll be taking the car to another tuner sometime later, but I'm enjoying it for now. Getting a suspension clunk looked at today - sounds like an end link by the sway bar has gone dry or bad. That's usually a cheap and quick repair.
And need to grease up the brake shims to stop squealing. Once the car is sorted, I think I'll keep the work going on it. It needs new wheels and tires.

Nice! Glad you figured it out.
Would have been a shame to be the only Z owner on here again.
I'm not ballsy enough to get my car tuned or anything 😂.

Spotted this 4C yesterday at the gym. First time I’ve seen one in person. This one had a few track oriented mods, bucket seats with 5 point harnesses. Very cool.
So, yeah, Autocross is super fun.
Great place for car spotting too, even saw a GT2 RS but it was on the track so no good photos.

If you join your local Porsche Club America chapter they hook you up. It’s unbelievably cheap for how much cool stuff you get. Well worth it to say the least.

Call center team manager telling you that "X company has given me so much. I don't know why you won't stick around now that we've elected to not work with your school schedule any more" when you're entering your last semester in college type of car for sure. It's a weird insect-fish hybrid that still somehow manages to be painfully boring.
Ahh, you hit it on the head! It looks like a catfish! Which are tasty sonnabitches, but ugly as all hell.
Can’t seem to book a tour at the Porsche experience. :(
Booked a seat for lunch tho at 356 lol.
I’ll see what I can do after work.

had my old car booked to be scrapped and the guy turned up and tried to haggle the fucking scrap price. Safe to say the car's still sitting on the drive lol
Lease brehs
I'm probably going to lease a high performance car in 2020. Got like 5k left on my Honda. That'll get knocked out this year. Then my wife will get a car, and me in 2020. Was always the plan to have 3 cars with at least one paid off . With that setup I feel comfortable leasing as I have a fully paid off (reliable) car in the stable.
I'm thinking M5/E63s/Panamera type range, although with the later I think to get the same type of perf I'd have to go up in the range and idk about all that price wise. I've sort of got the M5 Comp in my eye right now. Regular M5 looks to do 2.8 and the comp 2.6-2.7 which is ridiculous af to me. On the other hand a M550i also has a V8 and is 35k cheaper than a M5.
Thanks to kibner-san I know what I should be looking for in the residual, but gonna have to read up on everything else.
I've always financed so any other advice/tips from some of you lease gods would be welcome.

High residual can be offset by shitty money factor (lease interest rate). So residual is not the only thing to look for. If you have a residual in the high 50s or in the 60s, that's a good to great residual. You then need to look at the money factor and make sure it's in the 'triple zero' range. Meaning, it's 0.00099 and under. Anything with triple zeros past the decimal is essentially an interest rate of 2.5% and under (money factor value divided by 2400).
A lot of leases can often have poor residuals in the mid to lower 50s, but can be countered by an almost non-existent money factor of something like 0.0002, that ends up making the lease very worthwhile. Jaguar is often an example of this, as are Acura, Infiniti, Lincoln, and numerous other American luxury brands.
Right now, one of the absolute best leasing vehicles are Volvo XC60s. Money factor is 0.00066 + 58% residual + $2000 rebate. So you've got a fairly high residual, a very low MF, and money on top. That's the trifecta. Shrewd negotiating will get this car leased at $1500 below invoice price (Negotiate to $500 above invoice before rebate, then apply $2000 rebate to go $1500 below invoice). This also lets the sales rep make a little money for a hassle free experience.
Also look for rebates. Sometimes BMW has a hard time moving cars like M5s and can toss in as much as $10-15K. They have such an overabundance of 750is right now from 2018 that they're throwing $20k in rebates at them to get them out the door. My best friend leases cars to clients every day, and normally a 7-series would be $1000, he's leased out 3 overstock vehicles earlier in the year for $700. Even a pair of M3, $727 each.

By rossonero Go To PostI need to google residual and money factor it seems. You often need to get those numbers straight from the dealer. This article can explain those two numbers and what they mean pretty well: https://www.edmunds.com/car-leasing/four-ways-to-spot-a-good-lease.html

Residual is another word for depreciation. Depreciation is the money you pay in your lease. The higher the residual, the less your payment should be.
Money factor is the interest of your lease 'loan'.
You can get residual and money factors from Edmunds' forums. If you Google search something like: "Lincoln Navigator Lease Edmunds", you'll get a result from Edmunds' message boards of where the admins and moderators keep threads ongoing with the latest numbers every month and answering prospective leasee's questions.
I really hope Jaguar comes out with an Ingenium I6 variant, because I would love to pickup a 3.0T XE with AWD and the new interior as a daily.

2019 World Car of the Year.
Which is what happens when you release an EV with great looks, usability, and....build quality. It's funny what aligned doors and a nice cabin can do for a car.
Does anyone know any good alternatives to nextzett Kristall Klar Washer Fluid other than the somewhat shady looking Sonax Clear View Windshield Washer? Porsche says they require phosphate free windshield wiper fluid and those are the only two products I could find that meet that description. From what I gathered when searching, Porsche dealers use nextzett product but relabeled.
I ran out of fluid today and couldn't find anything in brick and mortar stores so will probably call up the dealership tomorrow to see if I can get it filled as part of my warranty or something or just buy straight from them until I can order a batch for myself cheaper online.

370Z Update: New brake pads done today, the brake squeal is gone. New Michelin Super Sports have arrived for it. Gotta take the car to a local dealer though for a backdoor hookup that I have (I think the car needs its keys relearned, but also needs a small recall done too). My hookup will only charge me $40 for the keys, as opposed to $120. :)
Oh, and Pilot Sport 4S have arrived for the XKR-S, as well.

Man why would a car like that be out on a public road? It's rear end got super tucked up, looks like. Can't tell you what it is, though.
